Ahhhh thank you for this video!!
My man, you killed this one.
Lovely singing my dude ❤
Austin, just...INCREDIBLE. If you guys ever tour Europe, I'm all in. 😀
Austin you did amazing as always! You killed it!
Big time HF fan, for a long time. You got pipes, bud! Nailed it! (I'm Air Force retired, living in the P.I., and you have a LOT of fans here!). I'm so into acapella now. Amazing what all you guys are capable of. Don't split up the group...ever! Do your own thing sure, but pls don't break up the "boys".
All of that percussion is Adam. We like to call him the human drum kit.
There is a YT video out there showing him doing a drum solo. With no drums.
All the other guys pitch in as percussion
Most of the percussion is Adam, but they all get in on the action from time to time. When they do "Ain't Going Down til the Sun Comes Up" live in concert, Austin helps out with the harmonica sounds, just to amplify it.
Percy Sledge did it before Michael Bolton. But Austin has knocked it out of the park!!! Absolutely jaw dropping!
Schnell, Percy Sledge actually did it 1st in 1966 :)
And the version most known!
I actually hadn't heard of any other version because it's so famous.
oh Percy was a beast.
Percy didn't do it like this.
No disrespect and I realize Percy did it first, doesn’t mean Home Free didn’t do it better!! Just saying! In my mind this is a better version but that’s just me whatever.
This arrangement was perfect for Austin. I feel that he did a better cover than Bolton or anyone else.
check the orginal by Persy Sledge
@@level600a Austin's version is so much better.
Schnell, Austin is unrivaled in modern acapella music, and is one of the best voices in the industry. Tim told him several years ago that he needed to do this one !!
Schnell, the look on your face at 3:39 says it all!
@@dannytomen5512 it sure does !!!
This song was first recorded by Percy Sledge back in 1966. Michael Bolton did a cover of it in 1991.
Austin was the perfect guy for this song. You can feel how he feels when he's singing. His girlfriend Amberly was in the studio when he sang this. Your reaction was great.
Percy Sledge performed this right after his girlfriend dumped him. Walking on stage, he told the band to play something and created the song in the moment. They took it to the studio, polished it up, and released a classic song that stands the test of time. You really should hear it...
This version here is better than the original, by a whole bunch, it's not even close....
LOL 😂😂 I have no idea where you came up with this story!! 😂😂 the song was written by Calvin Lewis and Andrew Wright
On Wikipedia Percy Sledge has two versions of the story.
It wasn't on stage, but before they were going on stage. After performing
their regular gig, they all three worked on it for weeks. At first Percy was
angry the song writers got most the credit but later said it was a group project.
Most great songs are. Each of the artist's influencers and co-workers usually
add something even if it is only a suggestion.
He recorded it in 1966
Austin was (and is) an amazing vocalist and this song was a perfect showcase for his talent and hard work. I was glad to see Adam get some notice, that man is a one-man band and a darn good singer on his own. He is such a key part of Home Free’s sound.
Tim talked him into it !
Austin's voice is tremendous - brings tears to my eyes.
Percussion is entirely Adam. But on a lot of these studio productions for utmost clarity and work-ability he records individual drum sounds on multiple tracks and then they are layered into the final mix. Not to say he can't sound almost identical to this live though, the guy has a beyond incredible talent.
Oh my Lord, I may be 75 years old, but God have mercy, Austin has "bedroom eyes". HOLY WOW", AND HE CAN SING THAT SONG PERFECTLY.
I’m 67and every time I watch this I just melt!!
You need to listen to the videos of Adam showing off his beatboxing skills during their shows. You won't be disappointed!
You're going to love it , Austin kills it in this video man his voice is amazing it was so good I went and got my wife out of the kitchen replayed it and dance with her in the living room❤❤
Home Free is amazing! They never disappoint, Austin kills this!❤️🔥
THE GUY IS SLAMMIN' IT IN HIGH TENOR ROCK POWER ..... and then ACTUALLY BRIDGES UP A KEY .... damn !!!!!!!!!!!
The original classic is by Percy Sledge. Michael Bolton did a great remake of it and now Home Free has also hit it out the ballpark.
Austin, you are such a flirt with those brown eyes of yours you cutie!!! You know you're flirting, all of us ladies know it too!! The band is great, and this song was made for you, what a beautiful voice you have!!!
The best cover of that song that I have ever heard .... This is the greatest vocals gathered in one place that I have ever heard period !!!
It's better than the original and Bolton's cover. Doesn't happen often but it's just better.
I remember very well when this hit in 1966... Percy had that soul for sure...
Here Austin's sound makes me think of a cloth falling onto an apple, where other tenors in this range make me feel that they are standing on tippy toes trying to pluck that same apple. He sings this with so much power that you always feel he still has more left in reserve.
Brains over popularity hands down. This is an iconic Percy Sledge song from the 60's. Percy's opening line blew me away back then. Austin's/ Home Free's version is tops for an A Capella group. Still..........Percy's voice has been burned into my head for 55 yrs and still trumps Home Free, but Kudos to HF. Thx Schnell for your reaction..
Don't forget the amazing harmonies by the rest of the guys from Home Free, they are absolute FIRE!!!
Have you heard Austin Brown sing Unchained Melody. If you like this, you gotta hear him sing that. WOW!!!!
Austin's so amazing. He makes you feel like he's singing only to you
Oh my goodness, all that goodness!!! The voices that just come and melt together yet so incredibly strong!!! They reach into your very soul and become part of you! The lead singer, Austin is amazing talented and so very easy on the eyes!!! ❤️
The first time I heard this version..it gave me chills and tears...as a drummer myself..when I hear Adam's percussion..my jaw dropped!
The face you made when Austin chimed in at first was priceless! Loved it! He knocked this one into the stratosphere with his vocals. Yes, Adam is a phenomenal beatboxer/vocal percussionist. He has progressed by leaps and bounds since they won the Sing Off and continues to add effects to his already expansive set of skills! The harmonies were amazing, and Tim holding the bass was awesome! On to your question: I definitely would choose to be smarter than popular!
Tim (the Bass)...said when this came out...”In 9 months, I’d bet there’s a few little ones being born “...LOLOLOL.....HES probably right 💖🙃‼️
Austin also has a new solo...”AT LAST “ ...an Etta James cover...he Slays it 💖🙃‼️
He loves people so much and wants peace and light in his life.
Yes all of us ladies feel that Austin is serenading us!
Austin met the boys on a cruise ship. This stuff was his bread and butter. There's a live concert where he tells the story.
OMG girl..as a 53yr old married man of 26 yrs with 3 grown men you have such influence & I applaud you for your reviews!!!!!!
Austin Brown's cover of Unchained Melody 2nd to none. He makes it his own.
Cover is fine. The original belongs to Bobby Hatfield
@@bbwng54 agreed , yes!!! No Doubt!!
Adam is not the only "beat boxer" in the group. It's the best clue that I can give.
Percy Sledge, the original on the song would be proud. Never thought anyone could match Percy. Percy Sledge wrote this song on stage after having trouble between him and his girl.
I believe most of it is Adam all of them have their capabilities to assist him.. He is an awesome vocal percussionist / beatboxer. Have you seen this live drum solo I'll check out your library. Love your reactions! You are so sincere!
Bolton, covered this song look it up, Percy Sledge did this song in the mid '60's
Austin Brown is a great Tenor.
omg!!!! never heard such amazing stuff before. Home Free has definitely found another fan. Lovely presentation Schnell. U are the best!!!!!!
Smartest, popularity is an illusion that leaves when it's fickle audience changes. In 15 minutes , 3 days or 10 years popularity may well be gone, but smarts...that stays. Austin's voice is incredible in this performance. Percy is smiling! Adam = one bad beatboxing boy!! This is now my fav of theirs. Ok went back 5 times to hear that ending...wow.
I saw another comment from another reactor it said Austin's girlfriend was in the studio when he did this no wonder he did it like he did. I really love your reactions I've seen you do several of Angelina and so young so I'm constantly looking forward to any reactions that you're doing. Keep it up!
Actually per Austin he has not had a girlfriend since his breakup from Olena.
@@thomaswatkins5574 this is false but thanks for speaking for me 😝
@@AustinBrownMusic I do appreciate that you attempt damage control but you're going to be like the proverbial one-armed paper hanger trying to keep up with all the rumors/false info/fakes. 😜
Do love your music, both solo and with Home Free. See you in concert!
Hello Ms. Schnell. My name is Dale Pettit. You asked the question about smarts versus popularity. It brings me back to high school on scholarship night. We had a brilliant Indian student who could have had the world this fingertips. Long story short his popularity and his smarts in high school, on scholarship night he received nothing while everyone else did. My mom and I felt so bad. It has been almost 30 years from that night and I still feel bad. He was popular due to his smarts but that night he was left with npthing.
This song was made famous in 1961 by the great Percy Sledge . Love this song from my youth it was written by Calvin Lewis and Andrew Wright . GREAT MUSIC
Yes, Austins voice is perfect for this song !! He can sing anything actually. I was lucky to see Home Free live in concert in Wichita Kansas, We were in the first row and the theater was an older venue with a shorter stage. We were able to be very close to Adam and we could see how hard he works to makes those impressive sounds !!! Amazing to see Adam throat working non stop, I dont know how he is able to keep it up for so long. It was an unbelievablely good concert experience and we are all hoping life gets back to normal soon to they can start touring again.
Thank you so much for giving a me new group to listen to. Soooo god, love the sound of those guys and would like to hear more of them. Greetings from a Norwegian friend.
I just melted when he started singing this !!!!! Austin has his u tube channel where he does his own music ( since Home Free had to cut short their World Tour because of covid ) Austin has had the time to do some of his own music and NO he's not leaving Home Free... Check out Austins " Unchained Melody " and some of his originals there. Great reaction and keep them coming...
The female power version of him is SoHyang. "Bridge over troubled water" she does you would think were 2 different singers just listening from her soft to power voice. A tidbit about SoHyang... Sony reached out to her and offered her a contract...... and she told them no. LOL
Absolutely be the smartest person. Because being the smartest person you could figure a way to be the most popular person. But to be the most popular person you can't be the most smartest person LOL
Which would I rather be? Smarter or more popular? Neither, I would rather be kinder. That is world changing, or at least your immediate world. And a more positive mindset. It cost nothing to be kind and respectful.
This song is a classic by PERCY SLEDGE !! It was just an OK cover by Michael Bolton. Just sayin'. The drums are all Adam, but their sound in the recording is treated like real drums. But it's all vocals.
agree
Love Percy! Not enough people reacting to his music.
Right... from 1966. This cover is more like the original than being a cover of the Michael Bolton cover.
ya wish. I saw Percy in person live and Austin killed this.
@@protonneutron9046 agree !
Schnell you are the most Beautiful Human on CZcams. I just watch Your reaction through the whole video .your facial expressions are the best.!Great reactions.!
They always bring their A-Game & Austin was exceptional!
Adam Rupp does the drums on this, Tim does the bass line, and Adam Chance does some fills also as Rob does the back up ....
Home Free never, ever uses instruments in their group songs. They will if a member makes a solo recording. They only time they have ever used an "instrument" that I know of is when they do Man of Constant Sorrow live. Then they use a "looper" because there is so much going on but everything you hear even with the looper is their voices. If you ever get the chance to attend one of their concerts, GO! You will never ask that question again. Tim has a solo recording of I Can't Help Falling In Love. It really shows his range.
Home Free is the best. Great reaction
Adam Rupp is a 2 time world champ Beatboxer/Loopstation Champ. He Only got better with age.
Austin's EX Burned him bad so he has the Soul and Heart to pump into this part.
She still works for HF.
Popularity is fleeting, intelligence is lasting.
Hi, I love your reactions. So honest and genuine. If you haven't seen Adam's drum solo, you should really listen to it. It is fantastic. he puts on a real show.
I rather be the smartest in the room, just because you have popularity doesn’t mean it’ll necessarily take you to places, you ultimately get yourself to where you want to go in life.
And this is my favorite by Home Free because my parents recently celebrated their 46th anniversary and this was their wedding song, originally done by Percy sledge. I’ve listened to this song ever since I was brought to this planet called Earth. Also this song itself is one of my all time favorites and they did the damn thing on this one 💯🙌🏼
Great video my friend! All love ❤️
Totally agree with your choice. 100%
At my age it I can't help but chuckle when I hear someone so young and vibrant relate that it had been ages sense they have experienced something. Perspective truly is relative. Enjoyed the reaction.
Love your reaction! Smart is forever, popularity is fleeting.
First bought this was one when Percy Sledge put it out in 1966, first had the vinyl first then recorded it to 8-Track in early 70's, now it's digitized to a MP3.
Amazing and he’s sitting down
Had to come back and see your reaction, once again, to this song. IMHO, you are the BEST reactor on the Internet - and there are many. We all love watching you as you listen to this group. I so enjoy them as well. You, Ms. (now Mrs. I guess :-) are such a lovely woman - we just love seeing you as you react to this wonderful music. Thanks.
Actually, Michael Bolton covered this song by Percy Sledge. Percy was a black singer in the 60's. Have a look at Percy's version. It might give a fuller assessment of the cover versions. I think Home Free caught the spirit of Percy's version most accurately. Just like Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa covered Etta James' I'd Rather Be Blind, this rendition is superb. Home Free really brought this song into the 21st century. Cheers from Canada
SMART every time. It lasts longer.
Wow! I didn't expect to enjoy that but it was soulful and beautiful.
I love the way Austin serenaded you and you liked it !
Who in this world would not like to please you?
For your next Home Free I still think you should check out their cover of John Meyer's "In The Blood"
Austin is just awesome
Honestly
I feel the beauty of this song from Homefree..
AWESOME
Austin is killing it and yes it is Adam "Mr. Percussion" himself is the human drum kit!!!
The way Austin held you, I'm gonna tell! Haha
Your face when he started singing is priceless!!
It's Adam, and the charisma of Austin.
I'd be Smartest person.....great response to this amazing song.
Hands down, the BEST cover of that song I've heard (and there have been many - full orchestra, band, and a capella.) The man's voice is perfect for this one, and the harmonies were spot-on, as one would expect from Home Free. Regarding your "question of the day" though - I don't think you have to be the "most" anything, but smart (if you're well-intentioned) will make you popular, popularity won't necessarily make you smart. So... smart with a healthy dose of caring is the answer. BTW, we always look forward to your reactions. You're doing a great job here.
Every word of this song is true
Song by Percy Sledge! Recorded in Muscle Shoals Alabama! Listen to it.1966
Its A cappella - every thing is done through the mouth and vocals ONLY! Look out for Adam Rupps drum solo video - you'll be astonished!
Nice reaction! This is a fine example of "blue-eyed soul" - an unofficial sub-genre invented to describe The Righteous Brothers!
YUP...you can be all like WOW!! 😉
.
This song was actually originally done by Percy Sledge in 1966.
Every one of the Home Free group can do some beatboxing. Tim does the bass guitar most of the time.
Goosebumps!
They say it's all Adam. Go rest high on the mountain home Free
Adam is the drums and pretty much everything else
Great reaction, they are great! Thanks for sharing with us!
Smartest! Every time!
Found you by watching Righteous Brothers reactions and I'm happy to see you've discovered Home Free like so many others.
I own the business so I can honestly say that my wife is the smartest and most popular person in my workplace. 😝
In all of the other places I’ve worked, the smartest person was the one that was mostly quiet but kept their ears wide open. Taking in the good and throwing out the bad. Eventually that person climbed the popularity ladder because they were a good listener as well. Win/win. It’s best to be a blend of both because no one person knows everything and you want the person that does know to be willing to help you.
They all can beatbox however this is all Adam Rupp with Tim Foust carrying the Bass. Chance and Rob are the harmony
This is Dale Pettit again. My apologies for the lack of introduction. I started college as a music major but graduated with an exercise Science degree and I can tell you have an ear and a heart for music. Just want to thank you for your youtube channel and your honest video reactions. Keep up the great work and congrats on your first born. Look forward to many more of your reaction videos. Look forward to them but always keep family first.
They all can contribute different sounds...and Adam does use a looper sometimes to layer...but for the most part, Adam does all the percussion...for instance, in the Butts Medley, when Adam is doing the DJ Scratching sounds during the "Baby got back" song, Tim was doing the basic beat boxing, which you can see while he is standing next to Rob and beatboxing into his ear.
This was a song first done by Percy Sledge, check it out
Smart, popularity is fleeting and ethereal, brains you get to take with you!
It's all vocal, yes, not necessarily only Adam, they all help fill in every now and then, with bass, and percussions, but yeah, Rupp is the main artist behind percussion and rythm (beatboxing)
