SuMetal has such a powerful voice, and she's really good at getting the audience involved in the songs. Fuki is great! I love her voice and she's incredibly beautiful, also. Doll$boxx had some performances this year, which is, of course, Fuki performing together with Gacharic Spin. Speaking of Gacharic Spin, shout out to, relatively new, lead singer Angelina 1/3. She has a very unique voice which I love. I'm surprised LiSA isn't on your list. She's incredibly popular, not only for performing, but for her opening themes in several Anime.

When it comes to control I would give Su-Metal the top spot, dancing while singing in metal music is difficult, and when she sang monochrome in one take, her voice gives more power.

Saiki and Miku, Band-Maid. The perfect duo for the perfect band.
Rina, formerly Lisa X Band. Everything I could ever ask for in a vocalist.
Yuko Suzuhana, Wagakki Band. Captivating performer.

That's a tough one. My honorable mentions (whom would have been in my own top 10) would be Rina, who sung for the Li-sa-X band, and Uyu, who sings for Hagane and a Baby Metal cover band. Also, this is tough because Mayu's (Nemophila) "clean" vocals are probably one of my top favorites.

  • @musicaconqueror5477
    @musicaconqueror5477 Před rokem

1 - Eye (Destrose, Mary's Blood, solo) - strong, original timbre voice. She sang so that Mary's Blood never sounded sweet, never sang like a high-pitched flapper or a diva. Always feminine, elegant rock/metal, never a princess. And those cat moves.
2 - Rami (Aldious, Raglaia, solo) - beautiful clean voice. Reminds me of Annie Haslam (Renaissance). He can sing louder. The first two Aldious albums with Rami on vocals are brilliant. The music is somehow sharper, more metal than later.
3 - Maki Oyama (solo, concerts with Asterism, Aldious, Rie a.k.a. Suzaku, Fate Gear). Beautiful clean vocals. A very big expression.
    4 - Keiko Terada (Show-Ya) - legend. Like Eye, rock/metal soul.
5 - Asuka (mixx) - the only "typical Japanese vocal" I like
6 - Yuko (Hanafugetsu, Wagakki Band) pure, traditional singing
    7 - Rina (Li-sa-X BAND) - beautiful clear voice
8 - Yako Ikuta (RIO - Mary's Blood, solo) - very pleasant female vocals, cheerful and joyful way of singing.
9 - Saiki (Band-Maid) I'm slowly getting used to it and I think Saiki will advance strongly
    10 - Marina (Destrose, Mardelas)
    11 - Kimi (Bridear)
I don't like "typical Japanese vocals" (teenage, sweet, girly singing), I don't like too much "opera vibes" and pathos. There is a lot of that in Asami, Fuki, ... I value them very highly (for Fuki's skills she would probably be #1, but I don't like such singing, and the list is what I like.

  • @krauser3885
    @krauser3885 Před rokem +1

    Hey Frank, what's up
It's your list, I'll just talk about one singer that is one of my favorites but I'm not a huge fan of the "recent" changes she's been doing with her singing, not so much in studio but in live situations. I'm talking about Fuki
If we're talking about Fuki from 2010 till 2018, I could put her in a top 3 with LiSA and Yuko all day. Her voice was pure power, her lower vocal registers sounded strong, full and powerful and her vibrato wasn't this screechy really high pitch style she does now at the end of some verses/measures, it was more contained, wasn't as "impressive" but in my opinion, it sounded a lot better.
Opfer is a good example. The 2017 live show had her singing this song and it sounded like a 1:1 from the EP. But in the 2021 live show, she sang it again and the differences weres notorious. She doesn't go as low as she used to anymore and she goes really really high on the vibrato, sometimes sounds out of place to me. I don't know why she keeps doing it, it looks harder to sing that way and doesn't sound as good as before. Wish someone that knows about vocals could explain why this change in her style. Seriously, in 2017 her voice was absolutely stunning, I would say her peak was right there.

I decided to try and make a top 10 list but that was too difficult so I cheated and have a tie for #10. Since I have only 4 favorite female harsh vocalists, I decided to put 2 of them on this list since I enjoy their clean vocals very much also (the two not on this list are Yukina and Yuna).
#10 Tie between Miku (wasn't on my guitarist list so has to be on this list because she is one of a kind) and Angelina 1/3 (on my list because really good now with incredible future potential)
#9 Suzuka (I surprised myself that she is this far down)
#8 Hana (She has had a place on all of these lists because she is an unbelievable musical talent with great clean vocals and is good with the harsh vocals as well)
#7 Eye (I have listened to her new album several times and it is very, very good)
#6 Yuko (I hope The Wagakki Band comes to the US soon)
#5 Mayu (The first Nemophila video I saw was their cover of Iron Maiden's Aces High and Mayu sang the hell out of that song, making me an instant fan)
#4 Keiko (Still going strong after 40+ years and I hope they someday erect a statue of her for all she has done for female artists in Japan)
#3 Asami (Lovebites would not be Lovebites without the soaring vocals of Asami)
#2 Saiki (I was able to see a Band-Maid show a couple of months ago and Saiki was absolutely amazing)
#1 Fuki (Not only my favorite but I believe she is the best Japanese female vocalist - simply a star)

Some more clean vocalists that I would be remiss if I didn't mention:
Kotani - Bray me - She has a very unique quality to her voice that really shines in the songs Evidence Road and Marley.
Nao, Kaede, Hinako - PassCode - All 3 clean vocalists for PassCode can actually sing very well even if most people will not be able to hear them through the vocoder.
Hana, Angie 1/3, Oreo, and Tomo-zo - Gacharic Spin - All 4 are great but my preferred singing arrangement is Hana and Angie harmonizing.
Uyu - Hagane - She has vastly improved from when she has started singing and is one of the best power metal vocalists out there now.
Haruna, Rina, and Tomomi - SCANDAL - Haruna does do most lead vocals, but Rina and Tomomi do get lead on some songs.
Matsuri - Hanabie - Matsuri provides great contrast to Yukina.

Nana is a good shout, but this is a list of clean vocalists, Nana does screams as well, so it is possible that she would be disqualified from this list, and be in the next one with the screamers. The same goes for Mayu from Nemophila.

Saiki's voice is unique and even better in live, and her voice is sexy as well, she's my #1,Not as a fan,i like her voice, all of them in your list are good, but saiki is different, she is not the best i know but i like her..yuko is also absolutely amazing in her line, she has unique voice as well, asami and mayu are great vocalist, but ....,.!!!?? SU has a voice like no other..in my opinion, saiki, yuko, and SU metal have originality,I think they sing like no other..I know that in every songs there always some similar and even the singer sang like other sometimes, its impossible to sing completely like no other, but here my list(Japanese female singers) are all uniquely sing mostly,I think you get my point, and i respect miku, wouldn't talk about her and thanks for putting(add)in your list,i think she deserve it,she is not a good singer as compare to other, but she is one of the best backup vocalist, she put the BM songs better by her backup vocals,in my opinion...... i am a fan of nemophila...but band maid is amazing as i listen to their songs, they play like no other and do their own thing..no offense, and i heard their fans are called maidiacs, right? They are Humble and loyal, bandmaid fans are best, sooner Or later i think i might be a bandmaid fan..he2,becoz if i listen to their songs, its not impossible to listen again he2 this band is amazing, I like lovebites and listen to their music often, but sometimes I'm tired of asami's voice, sorry asami, you are not bad,but i wonder why i cannot tired of listening bandmaid songs, he2 i think I'm a fan of BM,but its ok, I think becoz of their uniqueness.. And kanami cleverness is she never put a guitar solo too long, but always sweet also make me hungry, this clever idea surely make me want to listen again, what a genious lady, hands down kanami,i think u r shy but transform to a monster on stage, alot of shreder often do a silo and put a long nice and brutal solo in their songs,it's okay, but the reason why i love kanami solo is that she never put unnessesary thing, but its sweet and emotion sometime,,but always too short, she is one of my favourite and saiki is my favourite too,but don't think I am a BM fan..

Yuko is very similar to Fuki and I think I like Yuko more (I don't listen to UM), and Saiki is good too, their vocal and singing style accompany their music super well.
But my #1 is Suzuka, she's the most unique and has the cleanest vocal, no throb, no vibrato, pierce through heavy instruments and make contrast with them instead of just accompany the music, her singing sometimes like straight up through music and speak directly to listeners and make me can't get enough, she's very versatile too.

Even Saiki only caught a glance which means you probably ought to have found a better example because she is a stand out and we all know it. 😊 Or maybe I’m just very used to her voice? Miku made me wake up too but probably because she’s 50% talent, 10% insanity and 40% pure attitude!

Dear Frank great to see you do a clean vocals chart- can't stand growlers, screamers or shouters. The top 5. For me- No 1 too much operatic vibrato- needs to be used sparingly, No 2 Too much hight pitch and the dancing stuff does me in. No 4 nearly gets there but not enough range and No 5 Most traditional Japanese, but messy arrangements don't help. That leaves anyone from BAND-MAID, but you knew that all along, didn't you. Really enjoy you reaction shows.

J-rock/metal female cleans? For me, not in question (despite the deep pool of talent): Fuki. Fortunate enough to have seen her live several times (Doll$Boxx twice, Unlucky Morpheus once). I also love Yuko Suzuhana, Uyu (Hagane), and for all I think of her as a screamer, Nemophila's Mayu has that wonderful, charismatic "smoky" clean voice. I've previously been slightly ambivalent about Asami in Lovebites (that is, like but haven't loved), but she's absolutely leveled up with their new single, Judgement Day.

I think Asaka from Trident should be on top 6 or 7, she has good clean vocal especially on the couple of last Trident's song she sounds more mature & powerful than before. But this list of female vocalist are awesome, I like it a lot.
My top 3 for this Japs female vocalits are Fuki (#1), Su-metal (#2), Asami (#3), these 3 were absolutely on the top tier best vocalist in the world, their vocals are just so amazing especially Fuki. Before I heard Unlucky Morpheus I just think that Su-metal were the best vocalist from Japan but when I listen to Unlucky Morpheus it changes everything. I just feel addicted to Fuki's voice because of her operatic technique & her vibratos just make me fall in love with Japanese metal scene.
I also recommended Minami Hoshikuma from Wagamama Rakia to be on the top Japanese female rock & metal vocalist. She has a good voice & also powerful compare with Saiki & Asaka.
