RESORT 2025 FASHION WEEK ROAST (it was a rough one)
Vložit
- čas přidán 12. 06. 2024
- The Resort season is one where the major luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, Balenciaga, and Gucci whisk their major clients off to romantic and beautiful locations and present a fashion show that is usually inspired by the place! It's an interesting shift from other fashion shows that are usually held in Milan or Paris where the brands are based, and usually are more of a luxury shopping experience rather than a influencer, celebrity, buyer, and press display!

" I'm sorry for the sheep who got shaved for... those." 😂
I don't know where rich people are going on holiday, but I think they're going to be a bit hot in all these big coats 🥵
They are so skinny, they often feel cold. And after a long day at the beach or on the sailong ship, dinner at the sea feels cold on the grilled skin…
Ski resorts, the southern hemisphere like Argentina and Chili, New Zealand
@@duchessedeberne3909truly will never understand why some ppl spit mean shit like that out of their mouths
I love when you include historical context. I could watch a whole series breaking down historical context/references for each brand.
Dior…In what universe is any of this resort wear. Am I vacationing in Mordor?
This comment killed me 😂😂😂
Ahh I live for the history and context, it helps us understand your perspective and critiques. Love you, Luke!!
I need more long form videos of fashion history.
im so with you on it! can't believe this channel is in hundreds subscribers and not millions
NOT THE HOBBY LOBBY WALL ART LMAO. this is why i love watching you😂
I posted my favorite quote before he said this. I don't regret my choice, but seriously! 🤣
Sorry for your loss in your family Luke x
The Balanciaga collection with the sky-high black chunky boots and long black clothes... I can't help but think of how a fashion show would look like if created by the Star Trek's Kligons.😨
Love that!!!
😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣☠️
😂Or like, Neil Gaiman's Sandman: make it fashion.
@@RishaBond 👍😅 Yes!!! With his style of long black coat and silhouette!
😂😂😂
"I have been to one cruise show...after party!" 😂 OMG. Luke, this 60 year old lady absolutely adores you and your reviews!!!
I’m another fan in my 60’s who has been watching Luke since his first video. I see him as the clearest and best voice in fashion today. He’s goin’ places.
Lace can go wrong? Lace can go wrong. I need to say this to myself a few more times. Lace _can_ go wrong.
true, perhaps you have to have "special" ability to make lace garment lose at every point. surprisingly so very ugly!
everytime I see chanel I let out a deep sigh ir's now an automatic response from my body
I hear ya.
Watching this enlighted me on how poor I am. Then an ad for discounted furniture showed up and I thought - what kind of ads do rich people see? Well at least those who don't have premium.
The cream Dior dress with word embroidery looks like baby's first cross stitch sampler.
Demna's Balenciaga is repulsive. Balenciaga will do well to move on.
Maria Grazia should stay at Dior forever just so I can hear Luke's shade....🤣🤣🤣
Time stamps:
00:00 - intro about Resort
04:04 - Chanel
12:24 - LV (dnw, but I loved most of it!)
17:11 - Balenciaga
21:50 - Dior
thank you, my dear. Good job, as always. Greetings from Brazil.
I absolutly adore the black outfit used to exemplify "clunky layering" (23:46). The whole silhouette could almost be straight out of one of Holbein's Tudour portraits. And as that period in fashion history just has a special place in my heart: I love it!
These are mostly hideous. I loved Gucci pleated skirts and the dress that Elle Fanning wore. Louis Vuitton looks a bit better than others. But Balenciaga and Chanel hurt my eyes. Can’t believe people paying thousands of dollars for these…
That Balenciaga show was just heinous, those super shiny poly looking crumbled ballgowns? No, those gowns deserve to be in the thrift store bargain bin the the 1980s and not on a runway.
😂 THIS GUY IS AWESOME. The truth that rolls out his mouth helps me understand why I don't like and like fashions. I don't know why you don't have more followers. So refreshing. I would love to see episodes where you pick one celeb and expose their fashion facade.
I am shocked at how ugly almost everything was.
The clothes may not have been the best but Luke, you absolutely sung!
Hilarious and educational! I come for the side-eye and stay for the knowledge.
I love to hear your critiques. All of the items were so terrible this time , and you were so politely brutal. I loved it. 😂😂😂 you always make my day 💕💕💕💕
Luke, sending condolences and a virtual hug for your loss
Not the Flint Lockwood spray-on shoes 👀
Always great to here your perspective on new collections. Really appreciate the background of resort shows too
We need to see Galliano as the creative director of Chanel that would be wicked
Luke, your script's intertextuality, informed reflection and analysis are breathtaking - and definitely delivering in a way the resort collections are not.
I'm from Spain (for context) and it's been so weird but interesting to watch my country's fashion being analyzed from an external point of view. I sooooo appreciate it. I really love your point of view and wish many designers shared the same passion for this craft.
I can’t help but feel that if the models weren’t directed to have constipated expressions and fast walks like they’d rather be anywhere but the runway, it might do better at selling the escapism/vacation fantasy of the clothing. When the pictures of the confident and elegant models from the reference looks are shown it’s such a stark comparison! I get it when it’s haute couture high fashion, but resort is about telling a story and encouraging people to adopt this persona. Such a shame that models are rarely allowed to show any of their personality anymore.
In rare form today babe love it
please make fashion week roasts a regular thing!
“And toDAAAYYSS video…” always music to my ears 💙💙💙
Young man on YT single-handedly teaching me EVERYTHING about haute couture, that Vogue would NEVER say, back when I used to buy this mag. I adore your commentary. So smart of you, to select this internet niche:)
Thanks for being here! I appreciate your unabashed self!
My first comment to your channel. Hi Luke I love your witty / cutty / humorous talks.
For one so young you have it all to become iconic fashion commentator and journalist.
You tell it like you see it and for the most part I do agree with you.
You have really kept my attentions with your uploads so far.
😂your honesty is brutal yet hilarious and I'm here for it patiently waiting for more ❤ then facts and history starts flowing from your lips and I'm intrigued
Brining back gucci looks as before in 70s 80s n 90s n tomford era
'Most people agree with me even if they won't say it.' 😆 I mostly agree with you even if I don't say it.
I honestly like the history lessons I learn from you! These fashions are just not fashioning to me!😊
Love hearing about the history of resort shows to give some context
Chanel was beyond piss poor and there wasn't much better after that. I think you made some frank and honest comments. Really loving your views. ;)
i LOVE these videos, esp when there's historical context!
Omg- your Chanel roast is savage…. And I loved every minute!!!!!
Lol this was a rough showing - fun for the fashion roast though
Luke, thank you for sharing your smart and sassy self with us! I appreciate you :)
FYI, Ghesquière did not do the costumes for Poor Things. It was Holly Waddington and she won an Oscar for it.
I swear the happiness I feel when *luxdups* uploads a video is beyond!!!!
Thanks Luke… good to have you! I love seeing all of these shows through you and love your comments and knowledge and passion…. you are great fun!✨☀️✨🌸✨🤩✨
I love your videos! They are witty, so well research that they always teach us something. I always look forward to listening to you. Thanks!
I’m OBSESSED with the Chanel knit cardigan/cover ups and the funky chunky big ol platforms a la the 90’s on ‘roids!! I didn’t mind the jeans and suede coats with the sheer scarves and the “Diana bomber coat” with the see thru skirt too… and that Gucci coat with all the daisies… I LOVE a print tho. I’m a child of the 90’s and really miss a good “baby doll dress” tbh. ❤❤❤
Amazing work on this!! I feel a channel binge coming on!!
The history mixed with your commentary and snarkiness just really makes me happy. ❤❤❤
Such an educational pleasure, as always. Thank you so much!! I’m so sorry for your loss, as well.
Loving all the background/historical details ❤
I've really missed the fashion week reviews! YES!
Your videos are packed with fashion culture knowledge etc thanks ❤
marie grazia at Dior attempting to do a widows of culloden. what on earth made her think.......
Luke, thanks so much for being my ‘mental health break’ from politics & news. I love you dearly & can’t wait for your next vid. ✌🏻🌊💙
So sorry for your loss ❤❤
Love your reviews and history lessons!
Honestly, you are THE BEST! 🏆
Have to say, I really enjoy your channel, your camera presence, personality and expert and educated insight. Well done friend.
those pleated looks at gucci are looking very robert wun, that very specific cut and overlay of accordian pleats is so common in his work
I watch you becuase you know things, and you present the more interesting pieces, thanks for showing us an inside look filtered thru your brain.
Classic content that i love
Ralph Lauren is the only designer I've ever bought, and I did buy a few pieces of his resort wear in the 1990s, but I didn't see ANYthing that interested me in these collections. And now I wear mostly blue jeans and white linen shirts. Sometimes blue linen shirts. And a few blue and white striped linen shirts. I was never very experimental, but then, I also didn't have the money to do that. And I'm 80.
So sad that Chanel and Dior each where at one point my largest inspirations in fashion and motivated me to go so school for design. Now it just feels like they’re the old people using slang incorrectly because they want to be seen as cool.
I still love my LV reverse monogram amzwatch clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.
I've only been watching u for a few months now ( so glad i subbed too u ) loving all u videos... but I'm learning so much from u with the history of clothes, how clothes would look better, the jewelry too go with it, I've been having fun watching u. Most of all ur absolutely adorable so that's a bonus lol, anyways trying to binge all i can, also so sorry for the family member that u had pass away my deepest condolences ❤!!
My attention kept being pulled away by that LOEWE Howl’s Moving Castle Calcifer puzzle bag ❤❤❤🥰
I thought his last video's "I'm not a Chanel hater, I'm THE Chanel hater" gave me the Quote of the Month, but "Give me Princess Diana, Princess Margaret...Wallis Simpson" is a new winner. You have to KNOW things to get that.
Thank you for the background on cruise shows. It was a nice intro.
Great video. Thank you for posting.
LOVE WATCHING UR REVIEWS.
I always liked fashion but never understood the references or what a house code was or how art influences fashion till I found your channel. Thank you so much. Ps-I love the snark
Great video as always
damn this is such an enjoyable review! feels like you did it in this "summer resort fun but fashiOn" tasteful style
thanks:)
I grew up paying attention to fashion- my mother made her own clothes based on various historical periods and looks, from paintings to ethnic costume books, and subscribed to Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. She was also a big fan of the Met collection, which at that time was easily accessible if one showed and interest, and liked to go in and talk about lace. Made me learn to memorize history by what people were wearing at the time. So if I had to date Henry the Eighth, of course that would have been "Codpiece." So fashion was a thing in our home. I've had a gift for coming up with designs myself, never made - no pun- much out of it, focus is on other things. But I really enjoy your videos. Not always agreeing with you but loving that you put your thoughts out there, and show all these -weird- things. Yes, first part of video was just ugly stuff, not design- it got interesting later on. I love dolls. Not sure about the ones Galliano is referencing though.
You are the best ❤
My Spanish heart melts hearing you so invested in spanish culture.
You may be right about the Gucci, because as a basic person who is far outside of their demographics, I want almost everything in the scene here.
Great commentary! You know our stuff!
Agreed about the shirts with cheesy "girl power" sayings
I think Kristen Stewart with Chanel is most genius because she could actually pull off these looks in a cool way. Hate to say it. But she’s the only one who could.
5:49 “stay away from me! I’m not well, and I want you to know it.” 😂😂😂😂😂
Love your dissections and dissertations. And your opinions - never stop. One petit quibble: the long-sleeve white Dior shirt is a button front ( or button up, if you prefer); it is not a button down shirt. Merci!
Look at you throwing around Spanish artists!
Enjoyed your history lessons as well as the commentary. Didn’t see anything I’d buy at any price.
Omg- Dior shaming at its best!!!!!!!!! Love you Luke! Lived for this reading!
omfg that Chanel collection was diabolical. I loved the green chunky knit ensemble, absolutely gorgeous (except those disgusting shoes) but everything else I saw in this video..wtf?
Well done.
Well said .
Well , Well, Well ❤
Who else remembered that ANTM finale runway when the hallway at 12:33 appeared on our screens?
Also, Luke! WTF was this at 16:26, no one in Spain talks like this LOL!!! And Cristobal Balenciaga can definetly be found rolling in his grave after you butchered his name! It was funny tho but as someone whos first language is Spanish I beg you to cease and desist 😘
Condolences, dear Luke!!
Lots of thanks, love and warm hugs from an old rebel-Pinkie
Love your Fergie quote. Obviously you strike critical monolog gold like its your job.
You are the best
You really have to react at the first red carpet of "Los premios de la moda española" that has been a couple days ago with the mindset of starting recognition to the fashion industry in Spain
when you refer to virginie viard's "clothing". IN INVERTED COMMAS lol
Hm, just personally, I think you were highly under-rating those stunning Maria Grazia Chiuri moody lace dresses - the seashells! The starfish! The coral! Soooo beautiful - like if the "grottocore" design aesthetic (aka Italian grotto style) came in dress form. Which I guess it does, now, lol. Anyway, loved those - in a sort of Pinterest-board way.
The shade at the end 😂☕️
“THristobal BalenTHiaga” 😭😭😭
I ❤ YOU!!!!!!!!
