- Fleetwood Mac - Rhiannon from 1975 with lyrics below
LYRICS:
Rhiannon rings like a bell through the night
And wouldn't you love to love her?
Takes through the sky like a bird in flight
And who will be her lover?
All your life you've never seen a woman
Taken by the wind
Would you stay if she promised you Heaven?
Will you ever win?
She is like a cat in the dark
And then she is the darkness
She rules her life like a fine skylark
And when the sky is starless
All your life you've never seen a woman
Taken by the wind
Would you stay if she promised you Heaven?
Will you ever win? Will you ever win?

My dad was in love with Stevie, always said she was a mystical white witch, back in the 70s!
I wish he was alive to see her in “Coven,” he would have been delighted!
I had twin girls in 1980, and I had always promised myself I would name my first daughter, Rhiannon. Well I had to come up with a second name as well. So I decided to name my second daughter, Rachel. We lost Rhiannon when she was just 22 years old. Now when I hear this song, I imagine it is my little girl saying, "Hi Mom"
She did not ever leave you. Pay attention around you...she will show you 🕊

hello
Hello! Im just leaving this comment here so that after a week or month or year and years go by when someone likes it, I will listen to this song again 💛
My mom loved this song and much music like it...she was one of the only people along with my sister who would help anyone in need even if she was down on her luck...they both died in the last 5 years...i love and miss them both and want to be just like them...my sister has a son who will always be under my watch...i see her in him everyday
I work retail and this song always plays at dead hours when no one is in the store and just the echo of the emptiness of the store makes this song sound amazing.
Irvin Gomez that’s amazing because I could picture it and hear it, I like to listen to this with my beats on while walking late at night and no ones around. It’s good for the soul
Or blasting in the speakers with the windows down, sun roof open, at night driving down backroads in the midwest
Irvin Gomez I know the feeling. I work retail overnight and they play a few FM songs and I jam. Hell yea.
I played this song at work, but no one really caught on to it. It is truly an enchanting song.
exactly what i was going to say

Stevie Nicks was an idol to lot of artists today, including Harry Styles and Lana Del Rey. Her icon is very unique and very different, yet something beautiful about her.
u are talkin some straight up BS! STFU!
You are clearly trying to justify to yourself, that the bollocks mainstream illuminati crap that you listen to is on some par with great music from the 50's/60's/70's/80's and 90's.

Otherwise I'd probably never have known this beautiful song.
Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks obviously weren't very popular in Europe. Neither of my parents know them or have ever listened to this song.
My mother also like "Rhiannon" now. ^^
actually they were very popular in europe, just because you and your parents never heard of them doesn't mean they weren't popular.
Well, obviously not in (then-communistic) Poland!
My parents went to discos and listened radio very much.
I let them listen to some of the songs of this group a few days ago.
Later I asked my aunts and my uncle. Nothing.
And I know that they remember a lot of oldies. Especially my father.
Which era do you prefer: Peter Green's or Buckingham/Nicks'?

Vicious Virago :) There's nothing wrong with smoking. I mentioned it because the OP said she wore "roach clips". Keep smoking, especially if it helps your condition.

how else are you suppose to find music? like you magically think of it then poof its there? so stfu music is timeless and anyone can find out about it whenever
Zoe Cullen Researching on your own, seeking where the given genre took its root from. If you like rock, for example, then you shouldn't limit yourself to what's been created and recorded now/recently. I think it's too shallow. Not saying that YOU do i it this way, but most people do. If music is timeless then what is this song the only old one that you probably know?

Rhiannon is the Celtic Goddess of the Moon, fertility, rebirth, wisdom, magick, transformation, beauty, artistic inspiration, and is the patroness of poets, as well as the Divine Queen of the Fairies. She is reputed to be extremely beautiful and have a tremendous singing voice. She was born at the first Moonrise, and much of what we know about her comes from the Mabinogen, an ancient book of Welsh folklore.
According to the Mabinogen, Rhiannon fell in love with a mortal and refused to marry one of her “own kind”, much to the distress of her family. The lucky guy was Prince Pwyll. They first met by Pwyll’s castle, at The Tors, a place reputed to be just above the entrance to the underworld, and was thought to cause enchantment and love. Pwyll immediately fell in love, and when Rhiannon rode by, he followed her. On and on they rode, Pwyll persuing her, however he could never bridge the distance between them, no matter how fast or long he rode. When he could ride no more, he called out to her in desperation and she stopped to wait for him, smiling to let him know all he had to do is ask for her.

Interestingly, the Welsh language doesn't have "e" in their alphabet, but then again, they don't have that better known -ion suffix either.

To be completely fair: Rhiannon = what each of us perceive to be just outside the grasp of our attainability. Rhiannon is both real and fantasy for each and every single one of us.
Absolutely
What are you talking about? Rhianon is a welsh queen from the mabinogion lol
Her voice is enchanting, mesmerizing magical. I don’t have enough words in my vocabulary to describe how much I love this band
Fun fact: Stevie Nicks based this song on a character named Rhiannon from a fantasy novel, and was surprised to learn afterwards that not only was Rhiannon the name of an ancient Welsh hero/goddess, but the lyrics fit the Welsh character just as well as the novel's. She wound up writing some more songs about the legend as part of a personal project that she eventually scrapped, though one of them, "Angel," made it onto Fleetwood Mac's 1979 album Tusk.
Wait isn’t this song related about a witch search it up I saw something about it and also this song was done by her because she also was or still is a witch

The 70's. Best decade ever! If you were into having fun, and you weren't in Vietnam. This song is so mystical.
My grandpas war journal mentioned the newspapers that would get sent to him from my family about the protesters and the hatred that veterans were getting when they came home. He wasn't into partying, he was surviving in an unjust war where there were people in Peaceful America protesting a war they didn't have the balls to fight in. But he did, and he died last November due to complications of pneumonia caused by AIDS. He shared needles with 2 of his original platoon members after they returned from the war. Demonized by the media, and patronized by youth, Neill R. Benson turned to painkillers because people wanted to party instead of surviving.
thank you American Horror Story for introducing me to this amazing song
Was so moved by this song when I was 8 years old and it came out as a hit on AM 89 WLS Chicago that I promised myself I would name my daughter, if I had one, after this song. In 1988, I had a daughter, and I named her Rhiannon.
Good old WLS, grew up with it. And turned this song up for sure!
To all of you concerned with people here from American Horror Story: Get the fuck over it. How do you expect people from this generation to discover Fleetwood Mac if films and television don't feature their songs? Artists of the 70s aren't exactly publicized much these days. You should be thanking AHS for helping this amazing music live on. You are not special because you knew about it before someone else. You're more concerned about how it makes you look than what it makes you feel. You're missing the point. Stevie Nicks wouldn't give a fuck if you heard it first, she'd be more interested in someone who was moved by it.
+Captain Howdy Absolutely right - let the music live!
+George Savva couldn't agree more. I was raised on this stuff, and wish that people would be encouraging young people to check out more Fleetwood instead of trying to chase them off. everyone should listen to Rumors, start to finish!
I absolutely agree. I know about this music because I was raised on it. Not everyone my age was. A lot of young people find this great music through TV shows and movies. Theres nothing wrong with it. The music loved on!
Eh because if you know music, it shouldn't matter how old you are or from what era the music is, to know in this case that Fleetwood Mac are awesome. I'm not hurting that people get introduced to something great via what's in their face, but if you need something to be in your face on TV to know it exists, then you need to try a little harder.
I was born in '64..I'm old..but I never learned of "Mr Sandman" until "Halloween" and "Back to the Future"..just sayin..

I visit my grandparents every Monday Wednesday and Friday so you could say I have a very close relationship w my grandfather. Since my father didn't always make the best decisions when I was younger my grandparents raised me and just yesterday I visited and he pulled me to the side and told me that he might have cancer, but he told me not be afraid cause he isn't and he's happy with what he's done and everything he is going to leave behind. And all day today ive been listening to songs that he would play when I was younger and when this song came up it just brought tears to my eyes and keep replaying the memories of us in my head. To those that have lost loved ones to the various types of cancer I send my condolences.

My mom showed me this and tried to convince me to name my little girl Rhiannon instead of Cloie before we had her. Mom passed away 7 months after I had Cloie. So in honor of her memory, we named our rainbow baby Rhiannon and gave her mom's middle name. I was due to have her on mom's 2 year anniversary. It all felt like mom sent her to us to bring the light back into our lives. And that is just what little Rhiannon has done. 🥰 She has her Nana's eyes and personality. bruceyboysvideos lol and why exactly?
+bruceyboysvideos Why does it matter to you how someone is introduced to good music? Just enjoy it and let others do the same.
Be careful, you may cut someone with all that edge
My aunt used to say that, when she died, she'd become a bird. She was a beautiful woman and a witch. My mom cries when she hears this song because it reminds her of her sister.
it's made me cry
Snickercole Rhiannon is an old Celtic name meaning witch, so it's very fitting.
southsidesman stop trying to shove your beliefs down people's throats
+southsidesman
They dont believe in your god, or any of your christian entities neither the christian god or satan exist to them. This person has done nothing to undermind your beliefs, so if you do not believe in something simply ignore it and respect their beliefs. You doing this disrespects some one who has passed on, You are not the god of the christian faith you do not decide who goes where that should be the decision of the Christian Lord to make and his only.
southsidesman Calm down, not everybody believes the same things that you do, and shouting at people will not help either.
If you think that someone's going to Hell, keep it to yourself, that would mean you'd never have to deal with that person.
Did God descend from Heaven to tell you to force people to follow something they do not believe?
You are not God, and trying to do what you think he would want may not be what he actually wants. If you worry about people going to hell, then pray for those who you think need it.
But yelling at people is counterproductive.
It was released exactly 45 years ago from today and this music never got old for me
To love a Rhiannon is melancholy. It’s a deep passion - desiring to own but never being allowed the pleasure. It’s the sadness of setting a beautiful butterfly free, but knowing that it’s freedom is what’s allowed it to blossom so wildly.
I called my daughter Rhiannon. Had the name picked out even before she was born and I knew she was a girl. Funny thing is......... Rhiannon is a typical Welsh name. It means Welsh goddess. My Rhiannon is half Welsh and was born on Halloween!!! And yes she is a lil witch!!! This song is just her, her personality to a t!! She loves all things dark and spooky as well and we've a black cat 🐈
This is so beautiful as a baby witch this makes me happy
That's awesome my name is Rhiannon and I love to show my friends this song and explain that it's how my mum chose my name. I love it when they look at me with amazement and go she's amazing💕😍
My names also Rhiannon and I’m a baby witch. I’m named after the Celtic goddess as my grandad was heavily welsh and wanted me to take on the name of a welsh goddess and with my family loving things like tarot cards and praying to Celtic gods he thought it only suiting
That’s so cute!! 🥰
Blood Eagle 88 I know. I didn’t say it was welsh witch. I said my family were welsh and named me after a Celtic goddess
I was named after this song

I listened to this album on the train from Iwakuni to Hiroshima. Fleetwood Mac is the background music to most of my Japan memories.

I'm 13 years old and I am 100% sure that this music is way better than the music this dumb generation decided to make.
Yeah all our generations music talks about butts and drugs. I do listen to rock but I limit myself. I like this song a lot and even my brother says it's stupid but he doesn't understand pain and that's why I lose myself in music.
Hey!
It's also about money
Oh hush, every generation has its high and low points. Fleetwood Mac and other classic rock bands weren't the only music groups to represent the 70's, there was still a lot of garbage out there like there is now. There are plenty of good artists in today's time, yeah they're under loads and loads of shit but that's nothing new. Don't forget, the 70's birthed the Bee Gees, Styx, Kiss, and a bunch of other assholes.
i Totally agree with you on this and also there is also a lot of other oldies out there that are also great and amazing there are some song that are good in this generation but i like the oldies better
Taylor Ann Baldaeus
Yep I agree! I enjoy the oldies, my point is that this generation is just as productive as every other before it. Of course, everything depends on preference and personal opinions though!!
Being of Welsh ancestory I have always loved this song. It captures a small part of Rhiannon. She is definitley my favorite part of Welsh folklore. She could ride a horse at a slow gait, but nobody could catch her. She had a bag that could never be filled. 😉
Lately her losing Pryderi has been haunting me. I love that the Welsh are unflinching in keeping their mythical women/Goddesses real in that they may not like their children or, being r*ped, or in Rhiannon's case, possibly losing their babies whether stolen or stillbirth. My brain wants to associate her losing Pryderi to stillbirth a lot lately, and I can't quite grasp why. Hope for my ancestors back in 1300s Wales when Pryderi comes back to her? I love this stuff so much!
Giggity
The part of me that comes from this line.... It's like being pulled away by a rope at the feet
Rhiannon is Welsh for Goddess of the Moon!💙🌕 Rhiannon, also known as Great Queen and White Witch, is an inspiring character in Celtic mythology, who possesses deep magic and can manifest her desires and dreams for the good of herself and others.🌛🌜🧿
Blessed be.
My favourite song of all time, actually
It has been a perfect playing for me having a lovely and awesome Fan like you, thanks for your love, I have you mostly to be thankful for 🎤🎤🎤
Stevie Nicks is a revolution all her own. Amazing lyrics, a voice, and presence to match
Most music is fast food, this is a slow cooked masterpiece.
Stevie wrote this song in 15 minutes
Maybe fast food is a masterpiece sometimes
all about that dopamine. The never-satiating drug ALL humans seek.
Fav cmmt
Can't you just feel the power in the lyrics?
Definitely a witch.
Jadduck yup
Gypsy
More like a Sorceress. Witch is too low rung.
I have an unhealthy obsession to this song and fleetwood Mac in general
My grandma listens to this song i heard it on the radio i fell in love right away she used to listen to it when i was younger
Same! My grandmother and great aunt listened to Fleetwood Mac before passing, I can remember hearing these songs at 7-8 years old. These songs remind me of the days that mattered and my family members. These songs are art, nothing can compare to them.
