Faith Kipyegon curled up on the track and covered herself with the Kenyan flag just to take a moment to absorb what she'd just done - that is, defend her Olympic title in the 1500m. In doing so the mother-of-one had recorded a new Olympic record of 3:53.11.
Great Britain's Laura Muir wins her first major international outdoor medal, passing the Dutch athlete, Sifan Hassan on the final lap, crossing the finish line in a British record time of 3:54.50.

Some people act like having a baby requries some kind a great effort. The effort comes after the baby is born. The generations before mine in my family most of the women who had children started out when they were teenagers and had most of the kids before their mid twenties.

I am very happy for her.

Doped Kipyegon has a 3-18 lifetime record vs Genzebe. Genzebe has 7 world records. Kipyegon has none. Try again.
@@borood1188 Try again Bo. In five global finals Faith has beaten Sifan four times. Sifan's only win was in 2019 when Faith was returning from pregnancy and had injury issues.

That was the only tactic that could have worked . She was up against a force of nature_Faith Chepn’etich.
Sifuna always runs at the back due to er speed but kipyegon is explosive and can win any race, even a 4:10 1500m race.
Siffan was in great shape and decided to Take the war to Faith. Faith answered the call.
It is not easy to beat Faith and these gals know it.
Kipyegon has a devastating kick. She might be one to reckon with in the 5000m if she ever wants to run that distance.
No Hissan owns that distance now

So the commentator thinks it is more important to praise the Briton for winning the silver than the winner of the race who just broke the long standing Olympic record 🚮
Well he’s a British commentator for British viewers on British TV and British people have been waiting years for Muir to hit the global podiums and she finally did in this race. Her winning second on a global stage is a massive thing for us. Plus he actually gave lovely commentary on the winner too and no doubt, commentary from other national commentators would be focused differently. Look at the comments on this video as well, all the Kenyans are giving praise to Muir.
Not being one sided kudos to Laura she's been there for a long time atleast she deserved it, talking about Kipyegon the best she's been for a long time come to think of it just after coming back from her maternity leave that's so encouraging n breaking the record that's unbelievable

This is the second time faith has won 1500m olympics and the commentators give glory to the defeated . As Kenyans we are not happy

I keep being blown away by the speed at which they run this. I ran my fastest 800m ever in university, just under 2:05, as a competitive university team runner. And they rant he first 800m in that time..... Just before running pretty much another one after that at the same speed. Most humans can't even keep up for just 100m of that (14s on the 100m isn't anything to sneeze at).
They are top top in the world remember
