When Annihilation trilogy came out I thought it was a remake of this story.

@@TheDustyTome That's the author. Yep. Definitely worth it. Netflix released a movie adaptation with the same name and it sorta captures its essence. They call it the shimmer, it's an area that looks very prismatic (like gasoline that was dripped into water) from the outside and keeps expanding, people who go in don't come out, and everything inside is... Well I'm not gonna spoil it. Definitely a ton of cosmic horror elements.
This reading was exceptional. The music and pitch of your voice leant well to the steady increase in the unsettlement of the atmosphere.
