  • This is an original composition by Melville H. Andrews, ca 1900. I mistakenly mention that he was the founder of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra but he was actually principal cellist the first year, 1896. However, he did have his own orchestra, simply called Andrews Orchestra. The Bangor Symphony Orchestra was actually the brainchild of Miss Abbie Garland. I also mention that it was given to another renowned musician here in Bangor, Maine by the name of Roland Reasoner by Andrews, but I misplaced the names. Andrews gave it to someone who gave it to Reasoner, then my grandfather, father and now me. I do not believe it has been played for over a century to be honest. It is written for the violin and piano and Thomas did a great job, but it would sound so much better with accompaniment.
