    This is very similar to my process for trial lessons. Could you please make a video on when to increase your price for new students, and when not to? What things to consider before you do it, etc.? I started out with a very low price and I was having trial lessons every week back then, but as I increased my price, the new students are showing up less and less.

      Thanks for your comment. I made a video entitled 'Preply help - increasing your rate', I'm hoping it'll answer your questions regarding how and when to change your price.

    Thank you so much for such an informative video for us. I want to ask, is it necessary to conduct a 50 minute trial lesson or can be short or longer than that?

      Thanks for the kind words. I believe some students can now choose to book 25 minute lessons as well as 50 minute lessons. I also, on occasion, get students who are still able to book 60 minute trial lessons.

    Hi. I'm new on preply and I'd like to ask couple questions. I'm going to have a trial lesson this evening, but I don't know how to conduct it. I have an extra teaching material but I don't know how to apply it on the platform. Do I have to worry about it or preply provides an extra teaching material on the trial lesson?

    • @teachercook-e2572

      Good question, you're welcome to use Preply's provided materials if you wish or your own materials. I usually use free lesson plans from 'onestopenglish' or 'linguahouse'. I feel these are often rather up to date and engaging for students of all levels. Hope this helps

    Hey! I'm about to teach my first trial lesson to a 4 year old. First question: how do you upload exercises from onestopenglish & linguahouse & english4tutors to preply so that your student can also see the exercises? they seem to be in pdf format ?
    also how do you explain english to a beginner if they dont speak any english at all? feel like the exercises I'm finding on preply are too advance for someone that speaks nothing

    • @teachercook-e2572
      @teachercook-e2572  Před 5 dny

      Hey Julia, first of all you've picked out the exact same three websites that I use for my resources which is good. I've never had a problem sending PDF files through Preply to my students. Otherwise, what you can do, is share your screen during the lesson of these files and go through them with your student too. If you are unable to send PDF files you can screenshot aspects of the content, for example the reading or the exercises from Onestopenglish, and send the documents to your student that way. Hope this helps

      @@teachercook-e2572 do you have any advice about a platform which has a clear structured plan for a course of sessions - i find preply difficult to find the right thing and those other platforms a bit random with lots of different pdfs - dont really know where to start, can you advise anything?

    Do you teach using that mic? The guitar thing (is that from a videogame?) on the wall is distracting. Your advice is not specific enough. You should include details like "Use the same lesson each time so you don't feel too angry when you realize in the first 5 minutes that the student is just wasting your time." And "Make sure you insist the student completes the placement test, students who refuse, or who give you a test 5 minutes after you ask, are just wasting your time." And best of all "If you feel that the trial is *not* going to lead to more classes, reschedule, don't cancel. Cancelling a trial hurts your statistics."
