    As a former 30 year resident of Youngstown, Ohio I thought this documentary was fair and balance showing the corruption, disparity, desperation, and hope of a Mideastern small town, but "JimBo" is not the hero Youngstown deserves or needs. In a Global economy Youngstown need to shake the ideas of entitlement, nepotism and the blue collar ethic "work by the sweat of your brow". This built Youngstown but will not sustain it into the 21st century. The 1st black mayor was a beginning but Youngstown needs new thinkers/leaders apart from the old guard to move it forward.

    Youngstown-Warren Born and raised. Proud of that. But this town is a drug infested ghetto. The jobs are all but gone. My dad worked at Republic Steel and later Warren Consolidated(WCI) he worked over 50yrs in the steel game. All we have left is sweat shops that minimum wage with no health insurance. I thoink allot about what could change these towns Warren and Youngstown all I can thing is production is a dead end. Maybe we can start steering our youth to technology computers software and research. All I know is the only thing booming here is our jails. The city's are making money off of locking up the poor. I dont like drugs and what they do. But what we are doing is not working. Jail parole/probation drug court is all temporary. Had a family member go through drug court had to have my aunt who was poor pay for it all. Its another way our city's collect every scrap without alleviating the problem at its head. The real problem is the people have nothing to feel good about anymore. We send all our successful people away for jobs elsewhere. And hearing someone say we want the town to shrink is ridiculous. The only ones that leave are the ones who can afford to. Leaving the poor and drug afflicted left. Thats what we have to look forward to drugs violence poor people and a city who makes money putting them through the system. You should be outraged folks from Youngstown. DEAD STEELTOWN BLUES © 2000/2003 James J. Pirko
    (I wrote the original version as my retired steelworker father was dying.)
    The skies are black,
    They used to be red;
    The night testifies,
    Steeltown is dead.
    On the banks of a murdered river,
    Cathedrals of fire brought to life,
    White hot strength to build a nation,
    Spewing money, power and strife.
    They built a city to serve those monsters,
    As dirty and deadly as the sulfur sky;
    Gamble and drink and buy some women,
    Cross the Mob and you’re gonna die.
    The streets were alive with the struggle of life,
    Battles to survive in each neighborhood;
    Under a cloud of soot and dust,
    At the core of it all, the giants stood.
    Scenes from Hell within those walls,
    Spark and flame and noxious fume,
    Blasts and screams from ancient machines,
    Toil until your health you doom.
    Blackened men sacrificed their lives,
    To feed those Gods of steel and brick;
    Ore and scrap and coal and stone,
    Leaving in pain, tired and sick.
    Old men now, they face their fate,
    Wracked with cancer, ache and pain;
    Their sons will never know their work,
    The graphite dust or the toxic rain.
    Those dragons are dead, their fires cold,
    Slain by steel from foreign shores;
    They were not saved by elected leaders,
    A pack of liars, pimps and whores.
    Now the city crumbles, with empty stores,
    Gone is the money and power and hope;
    Nothing to do but watch the mailbox,
    Rob and kill, and sell some dope.
    The skies are black,
    They used to be red;
    The night testifies,
    STEELTOWN IS DEAD.

The closed steel mills were mentioned; it is this anger from the worst unemployment in a once proud city that has helped to propel Donald J. Trump to nomination for President of the U.S,. along with fears of terrorism, and growing poverty as the Middle Class is being eradicated with each layoff and closure of our manufacturing plants. Sadly, this is America's great tragedy.

    Awesome very professionally done ,best thing after my children of course,ive seen come out of da YO in a long time, i was growing up the same time the steel was going down, 1988 was a Very bad year to enter into a no work broken town, its been down hill in the valley of rust n decay , now its all mostly uphill in super slow mo, but as was stated a week or two away from this , whatever it is ,steel trying to figure it out, anyway i look forward to coming home or at least the hell i call Youngstown, maybe so used to the wreckage that i punish my self cuz that's what it feels like to be home, lol anyway well done. Btw i work in what was once S&T annealing Campbell doesnt Works.I am the sole maintenance man in a 900 ft building that like the hundreds of others now gone, falling apart, but still trying to keep her going,unfortunately though its circling the drain .

      The stuff at the bar was shot at the Youngstown Club downtown. We did go to MVR but none of it made the final cut.
