As an Australian girly who has never been to the US I am LIVING for these New York vlogs!! I live in Brisbane which is a city and it doesn’t really get cold here - winters are like 20degrees Celsius so around 70 Fahrenheit I think?
My husband is from Vancouver though and we’re heading there in two weeks with our 8 month old baby and we are not mentally prepared for the cold 😂😂

Sorry to hear you missed your Pilates class because the public transportation situation. I totally understand why you aren’t comfortable using the subway alone and why you might not know the tricks and benefits of yellow cabs. I’ve lived in NYC for 6+ years now and I feel very comfortable taking the subway alone and hailing cabs when I need to. The subway really decreases the amount of time it takes to get anywhere. Rather than an hour to bike and walk, it probably would take less than 30 minutes via subway or bus. I don’t want to be critical or pushy, but I hope you consider learning some strategies to stay safe and smart to make your life in NYC more enjoyable.
You can really never be too safe…and even with all those preventative and protective measures taken, something could still happen to even the most prepared and vigilant person. Even you aren’t immune to something happening to you on the subway no matter how many years incident free you are. Not to live in fear, but the only way to guarantee 100 percent nothing happening is to not take the subway. Maybe she wants to guarantee her safety in that regard.

It’s not the fact I don’t want to take the subway or a cab, I have before and will again. I just prefer to move my body daily by walking and biking here since I didn’t get to do it a lot where I grew up. :) in this situation, i wouldn’t make the class on time via subway, cab, Uber, or bike because of the mishap.

So happy for you that you’ve been going out on your own! So proud of you! For so long I’ve just stayed home and done nothing on my days off if no one else is around but I’ve been trying to get out and experience life. I never regret it and I usually end up meeting really cool people that I wouldn’t have spoken to if I was with someone else. Good luck getting out there and getting out of your comfort zone to experience everything life has to offer!

Hi Lauren!! I’m from Montreal, Canada and I can tell you that winter in NYC is really cold (colder in Montreal lol but still)!!
My best advice is it’s REALLY important to buy warm coats, boots, mittens, hats, etc. and dress in layers. Otherwise you are seriously going to hate winter 😂

also, long coats are good to keep you really warm! Superpuffs from Aritzia are great 🥰
Fellow Canadian here (just further east). I agree with what Christina and Miranda said cause those will all keep you warm; especially those fleece lined leggings! For the days that you want to wear dresses or skirts, you can also look into fleece lined tights and then make sure that you have a long winter coat and some warm boots. It's all about the layers in the winter!

Bdubs is my favorite🥰 I was taught that you put foundation on your lips, along with your face of course, repeat with powder, allow to sit, then paint your lips. It most definitely holds a lot longer.

For the lipstick thing, in dance, we would peel the tissue in half so it was only one layer before doing the setting powder! It 100% does work!! Can’t speak to putting lip oil overtop though!
