- It took a long time just to find him, because not only do you have to make it to the end of the game but you have to collect his token along the way. You do this by strategically taking enough damage to spawn one of his rooms, then permanently sacrificing a heart, then if you're lucky one will spawn. If not you need to take more damage and sacrifice more hearts. Basically you're sacrificing much needed health while trying to make it to the very end. Luckily I finally had a run where I found the token early on and could build my power from there. By the time I got there there was so much damage it was too easy. Neon Abyss gameplay with my commentary as always!

The first time I fought Ares was at the end of a run where I accidentally got a violence token. I was using the 8th Colour, the item that boosts the number of bullets based on the hearts you were missing, and the item that makes your hearts deplete before your shields. A single shot from my gun covered the entire room. I didn't even see Ares spawn in, he appeared then he died.
I got the item that increase bullet damage, fire rate, the amount of bullets fired and the lottery ticket that gives 777coins. the coin cap is 999. I reached it and one shot ares.
FYI: You can use the machine in tge piano room more than 1 tine to get even more items. After a few uses (mostly 2) it explodes.

I personally love the lullaby gun. Once it gets multiple bullets and upgrades they hang around so long its like impossible to not hit anything
You can also use it to pick up items, so you can get all three items in the ares rooms instead of picking one.

Good thing to know is even if you clear the piano room, you can keep doing it for more items.

My neighborhood got messed up during the tropical storm and our power cut out I’ve been sad during it but I couldn’t figure out why until now it’s because I provide my self with commentary or watch you for commentary and then I feel happy but there was no internet so no mic or anything and shows to commentate on and I almost cried of joy when I was watching this

I spend hours upon hours trying to fight Athena, when I finally got to her I had a gun that would 'heat seak enemies' ... but the bullets would just fly away and actually avoid her...
So pro tip, dont fight athena with heat seaking bullets

If anyone didnt know you can steal all 3 items in the violence room with the Lullaby's gun passive abillity but if you are going for ares make sure you steal 2 items with the gun first the pick up the 3rd or you wont get the coin to get to ares

Has anyone here tried to play this game on switch yet? I played 15 runs the other night. 12 of which my run ended in my game crashing or black screening, 1 run I died because of fps drops (down to about 10 fps solid on some bosses). And 2 runs I got to actually either die or finish. I cant believe they ported this to the switch in the condition its in

If you find the death ray or whatever and find the relic that makes you do more damage the more shields you have plus are good at the game and don’t lose all your shields it’s super op I killed Argus in two hits
@DangerouslyFunny just so you know if you use the lullaby to pick up items in the extra Athena/Ares rooms you can pick up all of the items
The most op combo is the towel, sturdy sheild, and devil trade makes you nearly immortal.

Hey DF in the piano room if u shooting at the machine (that u pay to play the piano) enough time, u will broke the machine and it will give u one more chance to play the piano that mean u just have to pay once and have 2 items

I don't know if you know this or not but you can use the piano rooms up to 4 times regardless if you fail or succeed. Meaning that you can obtain 4 items for just 60 coins
Destroying bosses in a couple seconds is so fun. I got so powerful in a couple runs that zues got stuck in the wall and roof

FYI you can play the piano mini game more than once to get more items.
there is a mode past hard called abysmal you have to beat hard mode 3 time in a row to unlock but if u lose while in absmal mode it relocks
I like the idea of abysmal mode, and I like the idea of locking it behind beating hard 3 times, but relocking just feels like a bother.

I think it would help balance a bit if they capped upgrades on different weapons but also made upgrades more common. This would encourage switching weapons more often
