    I think it’s so cool that only through watching their choreo you managed to not only notice their maturity, but also the fact that they’ve gone through quite some hardships! Crown was definitely unique in terms of formations and teamwork, and their more recent dances leave a bit more freedom of self expression I’d say!
    Their music is very varied in genre, so I think (as a nondancer) that their choreos are also pretty different in style, but one thing that stays consistent is their use of the head! I swear, sometimes it looks like they’re one step away from snapping their necks lol. I don’t see that much in boygroups, because they don’t really do hairography, so it’s fresh to me.
    Kim Subin is actually their in-house choreographer since debut, so it’s actually pretty cool that we’re not only seeing the txt guys’ dance evolution, but also seeing an evolution of her choreography style :)
    Looking forward to more txt dance analysis, I think it’s very very interesting, and I enjoy how thorough you are :)

      Oooh! I love a resident choreographer for a group!!! Reasoning is for the exact thing you stated of growth not just with the artists but for the choreographer! I hope to be able to marathon them like I have with other groups to where I can appreciate a lot more of the things that you mentioned!

    The pressure and expectations that were placed on them since their debut (2019).
    They started at a higher level than normal rookie.
    People continue to look down on them and ready for them to fail.
    Debut 2019
    Covid 2020 came and hurt them alot
    2021 til now, still working hard and people keep sleeping on them.

    You also have to remember they debuted and had a large portion of their career during the pandemic. It really changed their trajectory as a group.

    I totally understand what you mean in terms of debut to now this song just feels a lot heavier. Though they didn’t experience hardship in the traditional “lack of funds” way (in terms of debut anyway, I know as trainees they experienced similar circumstances to bts members) personally I think alot of their hardships come from expectations and pressure from both the public and themselves. You would think in their 5th year they would be able to breathe a bit lighter but they are hungrier than ever and I think they show that every comeback as someone who has been a fan since debut. But yea there is definitely emotional hardship there I would say.

    hope you do ‘no rules’ during this txt marathon because it’s such a fun song and choreo and looks very exhausting especially near the end. it’s amazing that they pull it off. it’s also cool that it’s kind of a callback or sequel to a previous song of theirs called ‘new rules’ which is equally fun. love txt

    Watching this back to back with Crown was a trip! I'm looking forward to your commentary, just pausing to say that it made it really obvious to me how much they've grown as dancers. They're so confident now, and they can hold an audience with slow movements... And they're less focused on synchronicity, so individual styles show through more. We see more subtlety and a *lot* more swagger 😂

    • @jess_holyfield
      @jess_holyfield  Před 7 dny

      WILD I tell you! Was not expecting what I got and I'm happy for the journey honestly haha! They are definitely showcasing more performance and artistry within their movement which is always a good sign of maturity within the craft! I really hope to have the ability to marathon this group one day!

    You should do a TXT marathons. Some dance practices go unnoticed because they're bsides. I like Fairy of shampoo, it's in their second year of being a group and is pretty different from deja Vu. Another one is probably Opening sequence that's another bside. I recommend these based off like the difference between the debut song and the recent one dance wise.

    I also find it interesting bc txt have had the same in house choreography team since debut between Kim Subin and Kain!
    Rumor has is Subin got recently moved to be an overall hybe choreographer and Kain will take over as txts main choreographer, which will be something new

  • @Me00Moi
    @Me00Moi Před 9 dny +8

    The playfulness of their choreographies really does depend on the tone of the song and the concept they’re going for. I think if you ever do a marathon on them you’ll notice that versatility from pretty early on. Their discography is very diverse and they have a choreography catalogue to match it. Their dances are all around really fun and creative, however the complexity, intensity and overall feel may change into more lowkey and serious, or more rebellious and punkish, fresh, sexy, heavy, etc. whatever fits the vibe of the song better, and whether it’s a title track or a b side.
    Personally txt have consistently my favorite choreos overall in kpop, and i think in part of it is because they’re really good at getting into character (be it by pulling from real life experiences or because they’re just really that good of actors, i’m not sure… maybe both). Also because they’re so good at matching each other’s energies! From an untrained eye in dance, i see that they have really good chemistry and synergy, like you can tell they have good teamwork just by looking at their dance practices. They fit and look great together; they all have their moments to shine and (most importantly?) the others allow that to happen. I think in some groups it’s so obvious that you’re supposed to be looking at some members more than others, not just by line distribution but the way the features are set up… I really like that txt share the spotlight as a group, even if their styles are different and depending on preferences or technique someone could stand out more. They also practice so so much, from what i know they have immense discipline.
    Hope you do get to do that tubatu (another short-form for tomorrow x(by) together) marathon 🩵

      @evantesseract737 Před 7 dny +1

      I agree with you that they always commit 100% to every concept - hell, I love Puma, and that's a very good example. They really do try to express the song's meaning and emotion through dance.
      You're right that they balance and support each other too. Realistically, some of them are stronger dancers than others, but they're all really good at sharing the focus.

    @RisuAlto Před 8 dny +6

    Thanks for a fun reaction.
    I think a lot of people have covered the sorts of struggles TXT has gone through in their 5 years, but I think this is more of a commitment to their storyline rather than a direct reflection of their real life journeys. They _have_ grown up, but this choreography is emotional because it and the song were designed very specifically to elicit anemoia (the nostalgia for a time or place someone has never known). Their storyline at this point is dealing with the grief of realizing you have lost something in yourself as you've grown up and accepted the reality of adult life. The deja vu they're feeling is due to trying to remember a promise they (as characters, not literally) made as children as they try to find a way to hold onto the magic of their youth while still living in reality.
    I think it might be interesting for you to check out "I'll See You There Tomorrow," which is the other track they promoted on this album, if you have a chance. Very different vibes.

    They do gone through lots of hardship experiences back then, but what made TXT's songs bit different from other idol group I think because of how they execute every songs and choreos they made, they often tell fans that they learn acting to make MV's looks more deep and other reason maybe because they have contribution to the lyric of the song and the choreos so they expression looks more real

    They are trainee when their company, Big Hit, was still small. At that time BTS still a rookie. They have hardship like BTS when they are trainee. When BTS became the biggest group in the world, of course they compared to BTS. So, they feel the pressure. Like BTS to be compared to Beatles. I don't believe any k-pop group can be big as BTS, but I hope TXT can improve their skill and popularity day by day. Big Hit, always give their idols freedom to explore their arts so they can grow as real artist. TXT began to write some of their songs and produced it.

    I found this song really different in terms of vibe and I with it 100% although I do agree the choreo is simple. However, for me, the way they perform it, it feels like they're pulling me in anyways. I don't know if it's the song or just dance moves I really vibe with.
    I'm also very new to TXT as well. I only really know them from playing Rhythm Hive so I'm not too familiar with their dance concepts. But their songs slaps lol.
    I agree with dance trends following social media pretty closely. Before the pandemic, I hardly see these challenges and did focus on just watching dance practices/Studio Choom versions as a way to consume the content, but now I see so many shorts with the same moves, it's gets repetitive. But I'm a boomer when it comes to Kpop lol. I hate change.

    They trained in crazy conditions close to BTS and they heaviness comes from expectations.. they are in the same company with BTS and The company bighit manages only 2 groups ( bts and txt) and a solo artist. Earlier on the company was not doing well and now that they are a huge company they expectations raised so much.
    I feel like the pressure of txt is to do well so as not to reflect bad on BTS. The comparison between the two might never end.
    Also hybe kind of dance style is very different from other companies.
    Other songs of theirs that stood out is sugar rush ride and tinnitus.

    • @evantesseract737
      @evantesseract737 Před 7 dny

      The members have talked a lot about wondering if they deserved their success, about wanting to live up to expectations. I think they're fabulous - I don't love them because of BTS, I love them for themselves. But I also melted when Taehyun said to Yoongi "we want to live up to the wings you gave us."
      There are privileges and drawbacks to being Bangtan's little brothers, and the members themselves can talk about that. I admire that very much.
