  • View Range has caused many people to wonder if they have the settings correct. Some items show cut, some don't, even though they are clearly passing thru the cut plane. Some items are visible though they are clearly above the cut plane, etc.
    This Revit Tip will help you understand some of the quirks behind the dreaded View Range settings!

    Tremendous subject. Thanks for taking the time to go through all aspects of the view range. The only thing that I still have a few questions about is view range with respect to reflected ceilings but perhaps "reflected ceilings" could be a whole different topic for another video. Thanks Mike.

    OK, all you Revit coders, what I'm about to ask you for has been a long time coming. A dialog box for view range that is a live section featuring the actual levels of the drawing. Autodesk is never going to do it, they won't even change the names on the error messenger to match the terms used in the view range dialogue. It is up to you, or View Range will continue to be the random lottery of not being able to see and show what we need see and show.

    What is the point of Top if everything above the cut plane is invisible? Isn't Top always going to be above cut plane? This is one of the most frustrating topics of revit.

    Mike, there are still the 3 options in the drop downs for each you didn't explain - in TOP (Associated Level 1,Level Above 2 & Unlimited) , BOTTOM (Associated Level 1, Level Below & Unlimited) and VIEW DEPTH (Associated Level 1, Level Below & Unlimited)that maybe you can do a sequence video on View Range and explain more ~ TIA

    Is there a way to adjust the grayed out associated level? I cannot change it on my floor plans and when I go to add a room and room tag they are locking automatically into the locked associated level. Revit wont let me change them. Is there a way to go around it and reset it?

    Hi I need to display suspended beam in the drawing in hidden/dashed line as it is above the cut level. Is there any video or tutorial for this.

    • @miketaylor8211
      @miketaylor8211  Před 25 dny

      Yes... I think I made a video about using the Linework Tool... that will be your key to doing that task.

  • @cast98ec

    Can you turn on the roof soffits above on the second floor plan and show as halftone dashed too?

    • @miketaylor8211
      @miketaylor8211  Před 3 lety

      Yes. Here's how. Turn on an UNDERLAY of the 2nd Floor Ceiling Plan... and use LINEWORK tool (Modify Tab) to select the soffit edge... then turn off the underlay. The lines you drew will remain.

    You contradict yourself at around the 23:00 min mark in regards to generic models showing up above cut plane. Also the little window with your face is distracting, you should only show that at the intro and the outro.

      @@miketaylor8211 It is correct that you show your face because many of us who do not fully understand English, when we see your expressions, we understand it much better and clearer

    I know u tried to simplify it, it got to be too much for beginners. I need a book for revit for Dummies. I have been thru 10 or 20 videos, and no one can explain it in the simpilest of terms. Short and sweet, so that a 4 yrs old could understand. When people try, they end up making a 10/20 min video. That only makes it more confusing. For the love of all that is holy, please let there be a simpiler video out there. Ugh.
    🤔🤨😶😮‍💨🥴😵🤯🧐🥺🥹🥵😰🤦🏻‍♂️🤕

    Suggestion....Reduce your face by 75% so we can see what's going on. We don't need to see you. Thanks for the great content, BTW.
