I once had a gown, it was almost new
Oh, the daintiest thing, it was sweet Alice blue
With little forget-me-nots placed here and there
When I had it on, I walked on the air
And it wore, and it wore, and it wore
'Til it went, and it wasn't no more
In my sweet little Alice blue gown
When I first wandered down into town
I was both proud and shy, as I felt every eye
And in every shop window I primped passing by
Then in manner of fashion, I'd frown
And the world seemed to smile all around
'Til it wilted, I wore it, I'll always adore it
My sweet little Alice blue gown
The little silk worms that made silk for that gown
Just made that much silk and then crawled in the ground
For there never was anything like it before
And I don't dare to hope there will be any more
But it's gone, 'cause it just had to be
Still it wears in my memory
In my sweet little Alice blue gown
When I first wandered down into town
I was both proud and so shy, as I felt every eye
And in every shop window I primped passing by
Then in manner of fashion, I'd frown
And the world seemed to smile all around
So it wouldn't be proper if made of silk were another
My sweet little Alice blue gown

As I watched this for the first time I kept thinking Vince Giordano would switch to the bass sax and beat out a solo likened to the hot licks Adrian Rollini did on this tune but sadly that was not to be. Love this performance all the same.

Kenneth deGruchy -I see you are familiar with the Red Nichols 5 Pennies version with the bass sax solo by Adrian Rollini. Red Nichols also plays a fine muted trumpet solo on the same recording.i agree it would have been nice to hear Vince play a bass sax solo on the Schumm recording.

Love the motherly-looking lady on guitar. The pianist from my old dance school in New York in the 50's had jammed with Fats Waller and Willie the Lion Smith, whom she was married to, and had her own Dixieland combo, Merrill's Marauders, in Panama when it was a wide open city. She looked exactly like Whistler's Mother. It was impossible to associate her face with the hard-driving stride bass her left hand played.

That's Leah Bezin (or Leah LaBrea--The Windy CIty Songbird) from the West End Jazz Band. She sings, plays guitar and banjo and quotes lines from Three Stooges films like nobody else.

This is the real AMERICAN music. But who is appreciating it today? Look at the audience - only old folks are here. The most of youngsters involved in rap and other garbage junk-noise that they call "music".

La verdadera musica estadounidense vinculada al jazz, tal como la escucharon realmente los técnicos de los estudios de grabación y los públicos de entonces. Hay quien desea mantener la tradición. No me parece malo, aunque no sea la música del lado del mundo donde vivo.

Yes but isn't it wonderful that he is trying to look the part? And also to be the part? Just look at his retro drum kit, doesn't that look authentic? So why criticise his valid effort to produce an authentic look for himself too? As you say, he looks like Henry Hall, so that is really a compliment to his efforts. And Henry Hall wasn't the only person who looked like Henry Hall - thousands did - well done Josh Duffee for your sense of period style.

You lure me in with a clickbait tuba and then give me a string bass? Admittedly, it's a cool one...but you owe me tuba!
