Same with the stock exhausts, I remember seeing stock 750 and 1100 exhausts stacked like cordwood out the back of the local dealers waiting to go to the scrap metal guy, no one wanted them. Worth a fortune now.
You are absolutely correct about that! My mistake as I got crossed up between the V29's and the C/V carbs as used on the North American bikes. It's the C/V's that are best run with an airbox not the 29's. Thanks for pointing that out.
@@billydunn3680 i had my 29s set up as per the superstock bikes back in the day using micron pro stock race systen as used before pete gibson started making proper exhausts for the gsxrs
I was told the same thing I would like to try removing the air box but I don’t want to have to cut it do you know for sure that by removing the alternator the air box will come out?
Your GSXR is immaculate! Well done. I'm restoring mine now which is an '88 model. I love the 80s and 90s motorcycles!!!
I had my first one in 1988 on my 8th now 1100 87 .
That was Superstock they were racing in the UK, not Superbike.
Seen lads hack sawing the air box out....sad...but knew no better back then....I have same model....great fun to ride.

The airbox can split in two halfs and be removed without taking out the engine 😅
Nice bike. I have the same GSX-R750 F model in New Zealand and came here with 32mm carbs standard.
The NZ spec models came with 29 flat slides, if yours has 32mm carbs on, someone put them on, the U.S spec 86/87 came with 34mm CVs.
The 29s ran with no airbox with no problems my one did as most of the slabbies in the paddock did back then

Great review on a great bike sir 👍
Thank you for your comment Jak. It is a great iconic bikke from the mid 80's
Easy to take out you just remove the alternator
