When I first bought my own scuba gear I only had exactly those fins and I used them for 10/20 dives until I got myself some jet fins. They weren't as bad as some would think. If they had open back version i would reconsider them 😁

Personally I'd get some scuba pro seawings I know, I know, I've told you to get the instructor ones (orange) - they are more powerful and the best fins I've every tiered over 35 years of diving. And as soon as I can find someone to film my fining technique I'll send you that. I have to ask. Who is filming you underwater? Do they not wish to be on film? or are you placing your camera on a small tripod? Are you making your way around the world? I wouldn't have the balls to be out in the water alone at night. Some people do use freediving fins for single tank diving here in current. It's not very nice to when you're their buddy with tech fins.
Having said that, I recently got a pair of Diverite XT fins and they split the difference between a tech fin and a longer fin to deal with current. I really like them.
How do you like the Razor? I’m getting side mount training next month and trying to figure out what harness to get. My instructor in Mexico recommended the razor but the dive shop I use in the US likes Xdeep.
I've really enjoyed the razor, but I recommend setting it up with someone who is familiar (it sounds like your instructor is) and pay attention to how things get adjusted. I got mine about 7 years ago and it was a pain in the ass for me to set it up by myself as a new-ish sidemount diver
Why would you make such a demonstably false comment about police in the states? They help stranded motorists all the time. I've had them help me put a spare tire on my work truck in 100+ degree heat and one guy even got me some gas when my gas Guage on my old motorcycle broke and I ran out in the middle of the night. People are just people no where they come from or whether or not they wear a badge.

Yes, the whole closed heel situation is a major turn off for scuba
