This was so ahead of its time. So mad it was never even officially released, it's absolutely mesmerizing.
The new version is great but this 2012 version is on a whole different level. It’s amazing.
Personally, I prefer this version over the 2018 re-release.

this trash label(Blackground Records) utterly destroyed her career. they were using lame excuses to not release new albums, and when her 7 year contract ended they didn't let her go. she had to lawsuit the label(and she won ofc) to get away

I remember when JoJo was a Yahoo! Spotlight Artist, before any singles were released for radio and they had her rendition of SWV'S "Weak" available for listening. I've been a fan if her ever since. I hope Jo finally gets the recognition she deserves. This song is grown and sexy and on fire!

i like to listen to this version and the 2018 versions at the same time with different earpieces in each ear. You can really hear the tonal difference between her first 2 albums and this song. she was in her teens for the earlier ones and in her early 20s for this. remarkable. her range is filthy! I love listening to women who have super round and beefy lower registers. We don't see that too often. Being a woman who sings low as well, I greatly appreciate this! That B2 (A2 in the 2018 remake) on 'lately' in the pre chorus is...phew!! gorgeous. Been listening to her a lot lately. I'm sad that I didn't grow up listening to her, although her music was out seeing she only 2.5 years older than me. Definitely a fan now!

In retrospect, they did all the right things. Promotion wise and musically. People still want to hear this sound from her (which Blackground honed) and this video. It's just unfortunate they ran out of money, which sucks for her, because I'd say aside from the legalities, they handled her albums correctly.
