We need to go back to having 5k tournaments every weekend , add more teams now that thereâs no fees , and have pool play before every major. And need at least 6-8 majors a year + champs
League matches are weekends.

16 teams just makes more sense. And more LAN events means more international teams

I wish we could just go back to the CWL era.
Get us back to only tournaments/events, with both pro teams and amateur teams.
It gives so much hype around every tournament, especially champs, while it also allows for newer players getting experience and of course big underdog stories

That's not how scams work. They stopped taking payments years ago and aren't obligated to give back a penny yet they did give back the fees so have earnt nothing. They're continuing on with the league paying staff etc despite not long taking money from the teams, in fact they've gone beyond that and offered to financially support teams guaranteeing them a minimum revenue for the next two years. They've lost money on the league and are going to lose more hoping it will succeed so they sell a few more copies eventually, it's a terrible scam.

@@chrissykush2790âââ how? It makes his argument stronger, theyâve made it more clear they made a mistake. Teams have lost money and had to sell up after being made a promise of what the league was going to look like.
"hey good news, now that you've been roped in to working with investors that have no idea about esports, we're going to remove the fees".... Now hypothetically the teams which were tainted by capitalistic investors, who gained majority control of the brands, are still stuck with those investors and those commitment

Also having the challengers face off with CDL teams is exactly what there should be to get more viewers too. Give them a chance to prove it. A bottom 2 system for each major. Bottom 2 CDL teams switch with top 2 challengers. Give them X amount of games to accumulate X amount of CDL points or something along the lines. Would be sick

Also we can still do the exact format you just said with 12 teams and then the open bracket format to add 4 teams still do the 2 and 5ks for seedlings but then you have 16 teams. 12 pro 4 open and 4 pools of 4. And that would still be so much better especially if they are waving but in fees and all that

3 weeks of 2K tournaments for seeding, two weeks for current CDL teams 1 week for challengers, top for challengers make bracket. Challengers tournament is on CDL page for exposure.
I hope they do 16 team LANS with swiss format (prefer over pool play since its less likely to get screwed over by seeding). Then double elim bracket for t8 teams

I still think a LAN league match weekend would be beneficial for these teams vs no matches and just majors/tourneys. Sat 1 team hosts matches like a âpool playâ format so you can get 6 matches out of a group of 4 teams. Another set of 4 teams play Sunday at a different location a different team hosts. You have matches for seeding, LAN environment, more matches, live audience. Seems do-able and a way to get your locals aware of the CDL and any existing fans a chance to see their local team (and others) play and not just at majors.

Go back to when team can go to events and fight their way to the finals
Need at least 16-20 teams. A Pro-Am event once a season with more than 4 challenger teams. Couple more LAN events. Better roster rules. I don't think franchise esports should be switching out rosters so much in a season unless it's through a trade of sorts.

The main issues were not addressed for the viewer or player. We need more matches, more tournaments, chances for randoms to get a hit at the pros and semi pros in 2k or 5k's.
All of those points are to keep the owners happy, but, it is a start, i guess
I canât wait to watch Scump play in the CDL again.

Rather than just more NA teams the best thing would be to have 8-12 EU team slots so there's more diversity in talent with the benefit of inter region tournaments.
Sure having more NA teams helps the grass roots (which is very important don't get me wrong) but adding those teams isn't really going to make tournaments more exciting in my opinion as the gap between the top team and bottom will now just be even bigger.

I think the pga tour structure is possibly the best outcome for the CDL. Instead of having a fixed set of teams like other sports, teams should earn their âtour cardâ via open qualifiers (2ks/5ks) or smaller leagues like challengers. At the very least the CDL majors should have open quals, similar to the US Open. That way the CDL doesnt have to worry about funding teams, paying players, etc. The teams are free and responsible for generating their own revenue and backing, just like tour players. In this way the CDL can focus on partnerships, advertisement, events, and making the best productions and broadcasts possible - which they excel at. If thereâs one thing we can all agree on is that the CDL has been putting out some of the best productions in the industry over the past 5 years
I hope people arenât taking it the wrong way, an official league that is partnered with and native to the game is a vital thing. But its current tournament and team structure could be improved
They need an open bracket at every tournament. 4 open teams make it out and play the bottom team in each of the 4 pools for relegation. Then play for top 12 and on.
I think weekly tournaments in-season for placing in the majors is better than the league matches but I will say the league matches wouldn't bother me if they were only over like a 3 week period and the teams played like 2-4 matches a weekend. I think if we do a league match format every team should play every other team for seeding
Also need more majors, I think 1 a month for somewhere between 6-8 months would be perfect with champs on top
I don't know why leagues take so much from teams to where it doesn't let them thrive. The teams and players make the league money, not the other way around.
Itâs really just that every league saw OWL try it and be somewhat successful the first year so they jumped the gun. Which we all saw how fast the OWL fell shortly after. eSports just isnât as big as it would need to be for games to have a model like that.
How would streaming work for 2ks and 5ks?
Iâd assume the players would be allowed to stream themselves. Which I think would work out as it allows players to build audiences which in turn puts more eyes on the CDL when they go to a major.
We need a way for challenger teams to play League teams even if that is making CDL teams getting regulated after terrible performances and bringing in challenger teams that outplace bad teams
Excited by the idea of a team of OGs being able to turn up for a major through outside qualifying, so you could see a team of like Zooma, Scump, Methodz, and Octane.
Im legit devastated that I only started watching CDL in MW2. Id love to see Seth make a return.

They definitely need more change to improve the CDL. This is good but the issue is the format and how it's handled during the off-season like scump said. Also the location base is just not good imo. We need open bracket and pool play tournaments.
League matches would be fine if everyone was in texas & there were games every other day. NBA with a tournament every month or so

The past 5 years felt like the publisher actively fighting against the orgs. Simply so they could take in maximum money. Probably for the merger? Iâm hoping thatâs the case and we can go from that to a non combative relationship between publisher and orgs

The âleague matchesâ in between majors and tournaments should just be the scrims streamed. That way you get regular viewership on a weekly basis hyping up the tournaments.
i kinda wish we went back to the mlg days, never got the chance to go to mgl anaheim. i feel with how increasingly popular the league is getting, those mlg style events would bring in potentially new fans, and more revenue and exposure. thats just me tho

The league matches are terrible. I'd rather have like a swiss bracket every weekend. This allows for closer matches more often. I also think they should have a home venue where they host a standard event every couple weeks/atleast every 6 weeks then a major at another city and doing things near year round.

We need more teams, more tournaments, go back on twitch, we NEED to have Activision/Treyarch/IW/SH to be more responsive to changes pros are requesting to make the game better to play and watch. We need better maps to play on and better spawn logic. Better balancing of guns. NOOOO Snaking, better QA on wallbanging surfaces, and that's just things that we've been complaining about for years now and STILL haven't seen any improvement on (really, there's been SLIGHT improvements, but not enough to make the game better)

Not to mention a better system for Challengers. They haven't been shown hardly any love and its sad. Kids WANT to be pros in this game, but we need a more structured approach to doing that and right now its just like "grind ranked with a team and hope you get noticed". Thats not enough.

@@thetankman8itâs not even just odd timing. The bullet points address pretty much everything the lawsuit was about. Restricted number of teams? Now itâs easier to get in if allowed. Outrageous fees? All returned and permanently removed. The amount activision was taking in sales from teams? Now teams get a higher percentage.
Something happened in the background that caused these decisions and Iâm glad it did.

Whatâs surprising about this mea culpa is that it shows just how much individual teams were staking to play in the league. Where the fuck has the cash cow of the Call of Duty franchise been? Going straight into the pockets of Bobby Kotick? Teams have to pony up money to host majors?? What the fuck are we doing????
This is a correct step but it shows how badly this operation has been handled on the developer side.
Itâs there enough talent out there to make a 20 team league. Yet still be very competitive. The top 4 then what.
