    I watched about a dozen Viper guides before finding this, that really tried to explain the job as "Just watch your hotbars the whole time," as if that's good advice for any job in this game.
    Thank you. I'm the kind of person who needs to know why I'm doing something before I can actually learn how to do it.

    echoing what other people have said in the comments, this is the guide that actually got me to understand the job. other guides just left me more confused than before, not to mention feeling dumb because of how “easy” they would say it was to understand. thank you so much for this!!

    Well, I think I kinda get it now lol. We'll see how it goes when I get time to put it to practice. Viper is definitely one of those jobs where giving you 90% of your kit up front and saying "have fun kids" isn't the way to go lol
    Thanks for the vid!

    • @Filmire
      @Filmire  Před 13 dny +1

      I'm sure after you try it a few times it'll click 👍. I agree, this is the first time we start new jobs at level 80, so it takes up front investment to figure them out.

    @raventhorX Před 16 dny +2

    as i learn more about this class i realize how convoluted it is possibly making it confusing for certain players. So many of these buttons can just be switched to changing the same button which will also help with bloat. for example twinfang and twin blood. Since you will press one over the other at any given time why not just make a single button that changes accordingly? Then with the primary single target rotation why are there 4 different options? they all basically do exactly the same thing with the exception that two are flanks and two are rears. reduce this down to one or something. In fact you could probably adjust serpent's tail to be context sensitive so it switches between either death rattle, last lash, twinfang bite, twinblood bite, twinfang thresh, or twinblood thresh depending on what button was pressed before, with the thresh and bite buttons giving an additional press for their counterparts. If anything a lot of the abilities are very redundant and serve no purpose other than to make the class feel busy and be confusing to play for some imo.

      @Filmire  Před 16 dny +1

      This is true, and it sounds like the dev team will be adjusting Viper in an upcoming patch. (News came out right after I posted this video 😑). Though, I actually like Viper as it is -- even though it could be simplified, its busyness makes it feel like an action game, and hitting the correct combos feels rewarding -- this is just my opinion.

    • @raventhorX
      @raventhorX Před 16 dny

      @@Filmire I totally agree with that, but personally I don't want it to feel busy just because of redundant abilities, I'd like some variation or additional reason to use those extra buttons. Like with the 4 buttons in the single target third phase what if they each gave a different buff of sorts instead like one increases damage dealt, one increases damage taken on a target, then you got your speed buff etc. I admit since these are pretty much earlier in the combo you'd need to figure out howbto change those. Maybe make them apply a weaker buff and upgrade the buff when the third phase attacks are activated or something.

    The only question i have is wheb do you mix dread into tegular rotation just when you uses?

    • @Filmire
      @Filmire  Před 14 dny

      Dreadwinder needs a little more attention, so I like to rotate it in when the battlefield isn't as busy (such as when I don't need to worry about dodging AoEs). I also try not to leave it at max charges for too long, so its recharge time isn't wasted. That's just my approach and I think there are other valid ways to use it.

    • @conchbubbies9767
      @conchbubbies9767 Před 13 dny

      This is what I've been trying to work out. I'm still making my way to 100 so I've been working on the idea that maybe there's something I'm still missing from the kit to figure it out, but for right now I just try to ensure it's not capped. Perhaps it's meant to be used when you want more of a burst under party buffs (?)

  • @kylegordon00

    Are we really meant to use twinfang/twinbite oGCDs within a single GCD like that? When I try it, there is major clipping into the GCD. It seemed like you had the same issue in your video with clipping, as well. Do the potencies of the two oGCDs win out over the dps of just using one oGCD and then just starting your combo over from the beginning?
    Great video by the way - I watched several "Viper is so easy just push the glowing button" videos that were really unhelpful. I'm happy for new players who will find the job easy, but I like to understand what I'm doing and why. Having multiple buttons light up during combos, but not always the same buttons every time, was extremely confusing to me. Now I realize it's the game client trying to be my Autopilot. Thank you for making the vid!

    • @Filmire
      @Filmire  Před 12 dny +1

      Thanks for your comment. It's always great to hear the time I put into a video is appreciated 👍
      Yep, I'm confident we are intended to chain the twin bites. Using one buffs the other and they are both use-it-or-lose-it. If you don't chain them, the remaining bite + buff is disabled and lost.
      I performed the combos at a more relaxed pace for the video to make them easier to demonstrate and edit. When I do the dreadwinder combo normally, I find that it flows naturally. If there's any clipping or delay, I'm unable notice it. Hope that helps!
