    I kinda disagree with your choices. I think the 24-105 f4L ii should be in this mix as an all around lens with great range and capturing wonderful landscape at 24mm and great portrait at 70-105 mm. For an all around walking lens, it's hard to beat this lens with it versatility.

    What's yout criteria? I would never recommend an EF-S lens. Lenses are a lifetime investment that will span many camera bodies, so it is best to always go for the full frame variant. The 24-70 mm f2.8L is a very worthwhile investment and better choice than the 17-55 APS-C lens. I would also recommend the 50mm 1.4 as the 50 to get. The 50 1.2L is better on center, but less sharp at the edges than the 1.4 for example at lower Apertures. Once you get to f4.0 pretty even. The 1.2 isn't worth the 4 times multiple in price. The 1.2 85mm over the 1.8 is hard to argue, except for the weight and bulk. The 85mm 1.2L is probably Canon's best lens.

      what would you suggest for sports photography, Im sitting in the bleachers?

    • @skakdosmer
      @skakdosmer Před 2 lety +8

      For APS-C cameras EF-S lenses are generally the better choice. Not all EF lenses perform well on APS-C, and when it comes to general purpose zooms the focal range of EF lenses suck on APS-C. Besides they are often quite unnecessarily expensive. Lenses are longer term investments than cameras, yes. But certainly not lifetime investments. I own (and loved) several EF lenses from the film age whose sharpness just aren't good enough for modern cameras. So much for "lifetime". If you KNOW you're going to "upgrade" to full frame very SOON and KNOW where the money's going to come from, then I agree: buy EF. But if you only THINK that some day you'll go full frame and you also hope to marry and have kids - which is going to suck up a lot of cash for much more important purposes than photography, then do not buy EF (unless there are no EF-S options). Those who invested in EF a few years ago and now realise that if they ever move to full frame it's going to be mirrorless, and that the new RF lenses are better than their EF lenses, well they might realise that their EF glass wasn't really much of a lifetime investment. And very importantly: most APS-C users never buy full frame. Personally I don't even want full frame. If someone offered to give me an R5 for free, I'd say no thank you, because it would create a need for lenses that I could never afford.

    Agree that you need a 50mm lens but I feel the 50mm f1.4 is far better in quality than the 1.8. I also prefer the 70-200mm f2.8 and the 24-70mm f2.8 and lastly the 16-35mm f2.8. I also like the 85mm f1.8 but I rarely use it however I keep it for random photography at leisure I haven`t used it for weddings or events .. I tend to stick to 50mm f1.4 and 24-70mm f2.8, and occassionally the 70-200mm f2.8 for getting detail when I`m a distance away from the Client eg; photos of the Bride and Groom exchanging vows and putting on wedding bands. I also use the Canon 6D and Canon APS-C 1500d

    85mm is great for APS-C sensor DSLR? It can survive drops with all that glass and weight? It's an excellent lens for portraits but would prefer it on a full frame as it is designed for. Also why so random recommendations? You go from one of the best bang for dollar 50mm 1.8 STM (also why show two versions of it instead of just the STM version?) then go to professional 85mm 1.2 L II instead of the 85mm 1.8 USM? Then you recommend an EF-S lens for APS-C sensor only and then recommend 70-200mm f4 instead of 2.8? I am so confused... What is your criteria for these recommendations? Are these lenses what you own? So confusing...

    I agree with the 70-200 IS II f/4L. It’s my “Magic” lens! U really don’t need the 2.8, unless you getting the RF😂!!

    I'm in a dilemma to decide my first full frame from my good ol' 70 D. I already own a 70-200 USM ii lens. Would the use of an adaptor for 70-200 USM ii on a mirror less frame compromise image quality? Will you get the same result as with a Mark IV?
    As of now, I'm more inclined towards a Mark IV. What's your take on this?

    • @natestain7103
      @natestain7103 Před 3 lety

      keep the mark IV and use prime L lenses or the 24-70 2.8L II

    • @skakdosmer
      @skakdosmer Před 2 lety

      No, adapting a lens onto a mirrorless body does not change the image quality at all - you'll get the exact same result. Just bear in mind that the 45 mp sensor of the R5 is going to put higher demands on the sharpness of lenses than the 30 mp sensor of the 5d4. But any lens that's sharp enough on your 70D should be sharp enough on any full frame camera up to at least 50 mp.
      What you do is your choice, but I'd just stick to the wonderful 70D.
      Or maybe upgrade to the even better 90D (as I did). But that sensor puts much higher demands on lens sharpness. No lens will perform any worse on it, but some might not be able to make full use of the high resolution sensor, so if you pixel peep the images may look soft. Your 70-200 should be alright, though.

    • @FeedScrn
      @FeedScrn Před 20 dny

      Camera Conspiracies says that a wide lens - 28mm or less, allows close-ups easily. Just use judiciously,. For example: putting your arm into the shot when vLogging will make your arm look ridiculous.

    Hello,
    i'd need your wise hint, please! 😂
    Basing on your opinion, should I prefer the 18-55 3,5-5,6 IS STM or the 4-5,6 IS STM?
    I bought an eon 850D with 4-5,6, but they sent me the older 3,5-5,6 so I'm considering the replacement.
    Every suggestion would be super-appreciated. Thank you!

      Bruh, f3.5 to f4.0 isn't a big difference. Unless you're planning to change into fast glass lense such as f2.8 or faster aperture. Just invest in cheapo 50mm stm 1.8 you'll absolutely fall in love with it...

    I just bought a canon eos 2000d and I’m interested in getting another lens soon and I’m happy with what I have from when I bought it. But I have been taking moon pictures from my other camera that was a point and shoot I was able to get my moon shots just fine. But the other night I was trying to experiment with the lens and they came out blah. What do you recommend for a lens for moon shots and also sunrises/sunsets?

    • @jc2915
      @jc2915 Před 4 lety

      Get a telephoto for the moon, the longest the best, the more expensive the best, believe me, is not the same a Canon 50mm f/1.8 for $150.00 if you compare with 50mm 1.2 L that cost $1500.00

    The 85 f/1.2L is good but if you have it 10 Years like me, then the plastic cover is getting meltet, it feels like if you tutch honey, had to buy a new plastic cover for 60 Swiss francs. My absolut favorit lens is the EF 500mm f4 L, don't use it often, but whenever I use it it makes me smile... it is the only lens I will never resel. The 400 f 2.8 L was also nice, but it was to heavy and to close to the 500 so once I soled it. For me nothing is over a supertele, ok maybe a better/newer supertele. Out of my total 12 lenses where 7 are L's by far the best one with the most fun is the 500mm. Haven't this kind of fun with a supermacro, with a normal macro, a ultra wide, a shift tilt, or a f1,2 and f1.4 Lens, most of them are good ä, but there is no comparsion to the Supertele. So for me the best lens to buy is a supertele.
