- We live in a world that is often going so fast it is hard work just to keep up. (Stop! Let me off!) As a consequence many of us are feeling stressed and burned out. Fortunately there are herbs that can help and some of them are found in the garden.
The herbs I have mentioned are St. John's Wort, Borage, Catnip, Lavender, Chamomile, Vervain, Lemon Balm and Rosemary. California Poppy and Passiflora and Valerian are also very soothing. Even the humble Dandelion and Nettle are wonderful adaptogenic plants and can offer us great support.
Look below for how to make a cup of medicinal herbal tea.
I offer a lot of information about herbal remedies for the nervous system in my Introduction to Herbal Medicine course which is a six months long course that you can start at any time. The details are here www.danusirishherbgarden.com/...
Another way to reconnect with Nature and with Mother Earth is to consider
the Wise Woman Way training. This is a transpersonal course which brings you on a journey around the Celtic Wheel of the Year using druidic and shamanic techniques. We work with plants and old traditions, crafting and journeying. www.danusirishherbgarden.com/...
If you would like a gentle introduction to the wild medicine plants close to you, my books The Weed Handbooks are in the shop www.danusirishherbgarden.com/...
Thanks to Lol Hardiman for music and editing. You can find more of Lol's music here lolhardimanmusic.com/ and he is on CZcams too -

To make a perfect cup of soothing medicinal tea of leaves and flowers bring your water to the boil and allow to cool for a couple of minutes so it is just off the boil. If using fresh herbs use about 2 tsps of chopped herb. If using dried herbs, about 1 tsp per cup/person. Place in your pot and cover with water. Keep on the lid to keep in the volatile oils and leave to stand or infuse for 15 to 20 mins. If you are taking the tea to help you sleep, start to prepare it about one hour before bed.
If you are using Valerian root or Dandelion root, chop finely and using the same measurements as above, place in a small pan and bring to the boil and then simmer for 15-20 mins before enjoying. It is that simple.

Thanks for watching and take care. xx
Your videos are a godsend in these crazy times. So soothing and beautiful. Thank you🥰
I really love to make infusions to drink, my go to every day is stinging nettle with elderberries, my body just screams out for it. I was, not now but i fostered Dogs that had come from horrific situations & left them mentally upset & quite by accident i was trimming the catnip & i had a wee foster boy outside with me, he had survived an awful dog hoarding & cruelty situation, anyway i looked behind me to see that this English Bull Terrier had made a nest in off cuts, he was asleep & content. So i dried the catnip & made a cloth collar & put the catnip in & it was wonderful to see him relax & not living in fear so i love catnip, will try it myself. Thank You for all You share, much appreciated. 🦋
What a wonderful story -my heart was so touched to hear of him relaxing and becoming healed. Plants are just so good to us - and you are too xx
You said that the information was in the box below, but all I see are the comments.
I can never find info in the box below either......
the video alone makes me calm, the beautiful video and your voice. thank you so much for sharing your wisdom!
Glad you enjoyed it! Hope it helps xx
Thank you Terry and Lol a feast for all the senses, such a beautiful film and music. Brimming with good healthy advice, I love Lavender, Chamomile and Peppermint -Spearmint they soothe and invigorate too.
Your lovely roses, foxgloves and daisies and cheeky dogs and sunning chickens a visual stress reliever in itself
Blessings from Canada

I grew up in Bedsits and flats mainly …I was always in the Garden with my Nana and Papa in Scotland until I was 7 …all I ever wanted was a little piece of Earth to grow on …and a loving family …I got that much later in life in England but so very grateful so I am. Lol ❤️🌻☘️
Terri you are a marvel Dear Lady. Huge thanks for your beautiful sharing. Gratitude always.
I love lemon balm. I let the plant go to seed and now it pops up everywhere and I don’t mind at all. I think it knew I needed it’s medicine 😂
It's extremely invasive on my property. I have to keep it under control.
Good morning to you Terri, lovely informative video thank you so much.Sunday morning I bought Cat mint and Lavender plants to fill out my herb garden area, also they are great for the bees and butterflies,
So much the colour aromatics and choice in gardens fields hedges , we all thrive, sitting amongst the riches of the Goddess is awesome. We are so fortunate. Hugs and Blessings to you both.💚🌹
The most relaxing aspect of this video is watching you and listening to you as you wander through all of the lovely colors and textures of the multitude of plants gently swaying in the breeze. Your voice as you explain the plant qualities is a bonus stress reliever. I wish you blessings for all you do to help provide access to antidotes to the stresses of our daily lives
Absolutely gorgeous cinematography, beautiful garden, wonderful wisdom, and the dogs are always a treat! Thank you so much for the helpful information!
I made some st Johns wort tincture to help me with low moods in the winter and was so happy to find out how well it worked . I make so many things now thanks to your lovely channel xxx
I have a nighttime tea I use with lemon balm, skullcap, passion flower, hops, valarien root and lavender flowers with a bit of hibiscus flower. It's so soothing and helpful.
Yup ... don't listen to "authority figures" , I have to 100% agree there.
7:25 Just so you know; Terri is presenting herself as an authority figure on herbal medicine.
@@alexandergriffith4517 actually I am most definitely not. I am sharing what I know - and I am not an expert - but what I do say is very general and is to stimulate people to become responsible for their own health and well being whilst doing their own research. I have never pretended to have any authority whatsoever - you need to watch and listen more carefully.
I go to my Heavenly Father when stressed . He has promised to give His people that know Him peace , perfect peace ✝️
Thank you, Terri! Just looking at your beautiful herbal gardens is a stress reliever. My favorite mantra when I'm stressed, anxious, or fearful is "I am Safe. I am Happy. I am Healthy. I am at Peace." Especially effective with eyes closed and slow breaths. 💚
Lovely, as always. Thanks for the conversation and education. Your dogs and chickens are quite lovely.
Did anyone else see that crescent shaped cloud near the roofline, it looked like a profile of a baby’s face, so sweet and a nice reminder that there’s more to life than meets the eye. Wonder full video.
I’ve recently found your videos and I find them so relaxing and informational! I’m 21 and live in the U.S, I was never really taught about herbs as a child or teen & their wonderful uses. I really appreciate your videos & try my best to retain as much knowledge as possible💓
I'm so glad to hear that you enjoy the videos. I am delighted to help you. Good luck with learning. Look back through my videos - I have two or three about books and there are some herb books recommended that might be of use to you. xx
* QUESTION: You mention so many wonderful herbs for support & healing as in this video rosemary, chamomile, lavender etc. for stress; however, there are many varieties of these plants. Aren't some better as medicinal plants than others? Aren't some varieties bred more for ornamentation than for nutritional and remedial value? The relaxed and gentle presentation, information, science & lore as well as the music and editing area perfect for the ethos of your lovely CZcams channel - wise, beautiful and magical. Very harmonious - a real treasure. Thank you so much.
You are right, and the ornamental varieties may not have the same medicinal properties. Medicinal plants tend to have vulgare or officinale or officinalis in their latin names. Lemon Balm for example is Melissa officinalis; Lavender is Lavendula officinalis, Vervain is Verbena officinalis, ...
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Ah! Thank you & Shalom
I just love your aura of peacefulness. And your garden alone is a stress reliever
The garden is a great stress reliever - just getting outside xx
"Just go into yourself and realize that you are your own highest authority." ❤
I think it's important to remember that
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden That was very wise advice. Thank you for reminding us.
Wow, you're so amazing, you got a pharmacy in your backyard,God gave us all these herbs and spices for us to use, thanks so much..
I know - isn't it wonderful - we are so fortunate xx
AMEN
Self empowerment and being your highest authority is such an important element in freeing yourself and healing. I am so glad that you talk about it Terri. Wonderful video and great information as always. I Love herbal teas and usually have a cup of Chamomile and Holy Basil in the evening. Also for the home my evening mix in the diffusor is chamomile and lavender. I hope to have a garden like yours soon!
I look forward to your weekly videos. As a family/community herbalist for more than 30 yrs, I find myself finishing your sentences. We obviously teach/preach/encourage so similarly. And I'd bet we have studied with the same teachers. You were near the end of this vid, and I said "wait! you didn't mention Rosemary...".....20 seconds later, you did. LOL This may help someone else, so I wanted to post: my brother died very unexpectedly several years ago, and my world tilted on its axis; after several months of feeling like I was walking through water and looking at the world through glass bricks, I mixed up a tea of Oatstraw (to physically nourish the nervous system)/Chamomile (to calm)/Lemon Balm (to get me out of my own head) in equal parts, and for more than a year I drank 2-4 quarts a day (it is good hot or iced)....to this day, I swear it saved me. Herbs are truly a blessing.
You are wonderful..... my aunt taught me about some of these wonderful plants ... and yes.....I thank all the plants and nature all the time .... everyone says I have 2 green thumbs.....I send my love to all my plants when I touch them , and they respond......
Be blessed .... and thank you for your wisdom
So nice of you xx thanks for loving all your plants x
Hi Terri~I would absolutely love it if you could talk more about the benefits of California Poppy in a future video. I had never realized that it was medicinal until just now! It is not mentioned in any of my herb books and I’m very intrigued and delighted. I have it almost year round here in my (Cali) garden and I would love to use it to help with restful sleep. What an amazing gift! Thank you for always so graciously sharing your knowledge and love of nature. ~Monica
If you have it there make an infusion and take a cup about twenty minutes before bed. Mine have all gone now for this year so perhaps next year xx
Leaves or petals? Thank you for the lovely videos
Love all your topics on herbal plants.... .Look forward to your posts every Sunday..... .Many many thanks
So many beautiful plant friends here 💚 I love them all. My absolute favorite for my type of anxiety is Motherwort. She always feels like a wise, calm mother who sits with me until I calm down. 🌿
I love your garden - and your Irish accent!
Letting go of things that is beyond are control, with a healthy life style and a nice cup of lavender 👌✨tea ,that is the first step to a stress free life❤ thank u again for your wisdom and wise words ✨✨✨✨✨❤️🇳🇱
Loved the video. I sat down with a nice cup of chamomile tea and watch it. Loved all the mullein plants in your garden. I just got don’t harvesting mullein here in Pennsylvania. Making a tincture with some and am drying some for other uses through the year (respiratory and glandular problems). Thanks for the lovely video. 🤗
I found mullein on some overgrown wasteland yesterday! I was so chuffed! X

Dear druid lady welcome back thank you so much for your transmissions, lovely 🙏🐞🌻🪴🌼☘🌾🌈♥
Funny your temperature dipped today ! I was in the shower just now listening to your fascinating information....thinking how bizarrely chilly it was here in Edmonton Alberta! The Autumnal vibe evident too...we had an incredibly hot Spring.
But it's really lovely to have some rain, so All's Well. Thank you for the guidance here. 💚🪻🏵️✨
😹And I thought that I would be the only one visiting Dani’s garden from the shower😸!! Excellent repurpose for my old android phone.
For people who love lavender just like you and me one can add a pinch of lavender to ones pasta & Italian dishes. Just amazing ... 😻
Sounds great! I love Lavender tea but haven't yet used Lavender in cooking but will do so now xx
Love It 💞💞💞
A Garden Wonderland as Always! 🐝🌻 🌹💜
It is lovely at the moment I am happy to say😃
Your timing is impeccable! I do not and have never suffered from anxiety, but I do tend to overthink things. Company arrives today & I am stressed and dreading it. I know it will be fine and will probably enjoy it. I was out looking at my gardens and popped a lemonbalm leaf and a bagonia petal in my mouth. I've forgotten the variety, but the begonia is orane and yellow and tastes like peaches. Quite lovely in a salad. Mmmm that was lovely and bright on such a beautiful morning following so much rain. Thank you!❤ Joanne
💚 Thank you Terri. Very soothing film. 💙
Very helpful information as always, Terri. Thank you for including your dogs playing. Neither of them were going to give up on pulling that rag. I have to wonder which one won, or if they both just gave up. It’s always nice to have a bit of unexpected joy in a video. 😊💖🦋🕊
Your garden is beautiful -- the music, herbs swaying, chickens, dogs and most of all your presence and kind sharing are just what we all need.
Thank you.
