  • This week, we're experimenting with the Prismo AeroPress attachment from Fellow to answer this question; can the Prismo produce an espresso-style beverage to the standard that we are used to?
    You may have seen the Prismo before, it's an attachment designed to fit perfectly with the AeroPress brewer enabling you to take advantage of the pressure-actuated valve to brew at higher pressures than would usually be possible.
    In this video, we discuss the results of our experiments and provide a recipe that you can replicate at home.
    An example is as follows:
    Ecuador - Red Honey Ethiopia
    20g - 80g
    94°C Water Temp
    0:00 - 0:10 - Pour 80g of water into the AeroPress
    0:10 - 0:20 - Agitate the slurry within the AeroPress
    0:25 - 00:45 - Press all of the liquid out into a cup or server
    Total Brew Time: 00:45

    My "espresso" recipe using the Prismo, with a paper filter for a cleaner cup, is:
    22g Espresso blend (Con Vivo from Wogan Coffee here in the UK) finer side of medium grind
    60g water (just off the boil)
    Stir for 10 seconds and then steep for 2 mins
    Push hard
    This gives me a shot of 38g. Perfect for my flat white every morning.

    That is exactly my recipe! Same ratio, weights, temp, I just brew for 1 minute.

    Great video! Did you also try to pump up the extraction by, for example, more agitation and/or a slightly longer steep time (e.g., pushing at 45 s), using a lower coffee-poured water ratio (e.g., 1:3) and, if so,what where your results there?

    Hi Patrik! May I ask you your ideas about 1Zpresso K series? In a previous video about the K-Plus, you mentioned that you might take it to the Brewers Cup. Does that still stand true today?

    Thanks for the great content and this video.
    What do you think is better in terms of having a drink closer to an espresso, in order to have a milk based drink like a cappuccino, flat white, etc. a Cafflano Kompresso, Fellow Prismo, or none of them? 😅

    Really interesting video! I'm more interested in the full immersion factor of this device though (I hate inverting the aeropress). I just had one of your coffees actually! The one that came in the kaffebox subscription, was really wonderful stuff! I sadly cannot order from you guys very often due to ridiculous import fees into Norway (we are talking like 400 kr ekstra for just one bag) but if I ever have a bit more money than usual to order coffee with I'll keep you guys in mind! Also hope you partner up with kaffebox again sometime in the future

      I’ve had an April subscription since january, and the shipment luckily stays clear of import fees. The Norwegian import fees are annoying though. You’ll newer know if the price of your coffee triples before you get it in the mail :-(

      @@andersgrotterd3457 yeah, it fucking sucks. Have been quiet wary of ordering coffee outside of Norway since I got burned when ordering "the world's largest coffee tasting" kit from square mile.... 78 kr worth of coffee, 350 kr import fees

    No, Prismo cannot produce Espresso, but this recipe is a great iced coffee recipe. Thanks!

    Try putting a filter (cut to size) on top of the grinds. Pour in the middle, don't stir, let it sit for a minute and then slowly press down. While I do not get crema, there is a foam on top that does not dissipate even with stirring. Apparently the filter on top helps the water to disperse more evenly.

    You can try Cafe Concetto's filters especially the SUPERFINE one.

    How was this one compared to an “espresso” without the prismo? 😊

    Did you use Filter or Espresso Roast?

    Wish you'd do a comparison with Joepresso attachment, it makes a better espresso

  • @mariai9549

    Not to accommodating of the opinion that the little amount of coffee dripping out of an Aeropress during the brew affects taste enough to avoid using the method.

  • @yidy1
    @yidy1 Před 2 lety +1

    Hint: Try the inverted method (cover with prismo while immersing) and wait for 2 minutes before pressing.

    • @coolmacncheese
      @coolmacncheese Před 2 lety +3

      The point is you shouldn't need the inverted method while brewing in this tho, you can just leave the coffee there for 2 minutes and get the same result

  • @edwickson
    @edwickson Před 3 lety

    Even Jake Miller, the maker of prismo doesn't really very sure that this product did as it says. But aeropress user insist they want to make espresso. So this is the answer, that whatever it is, aeropress can't do espresso. But how about dedicated portable espresso maker, say like nanopresso?

  • @TheoSmith249
    @TheoSmith249 Před 10 měsíci

    Up your grind weight to 21grams, and adjust your water temp to 94.5c. Makes all the difference in the world... you are so close though.

  • @greysuit17
    @greysuit17 Před 3 lety +3

    You can’t make espresso with it. I think we are asking something from the Aeropress that it’s not able to do. It’s been great marketing of the product over the years that it can, but like lots of things it’s false advertising and at best wishful thinking by the consumer. No matter what you add to it, it’s incapable of making espresso.
