It's really just that other people have improved more, and it was a pretty slow overtaking over like a year. But with how insanely dominant he was back in the day, my man could only ever really go down relative to the competition
Sonix could honestly be as dominant as Leo. Sonics matchup chart is absolutely insane, because i’m pretty sure he doesn’t even have 1 losing matchup if played at top level. Sonix is breaking the skill barrier of that very difficult character. One day, Sonix will be just as dominant as Joker Leo
Yo Kaninabe's recovery mixups are great. He also uses side b well into disadvantage. I hope Leo adapts to it next time though (he did a little here). Every mixup is just another potential option to be punished.
Light is just so much faster and more aggressive while Kaninabe is much more patient and will stick to his opponent’s pace to try and bait out their options
Alright I’m just going to say this. Fox is a top 10 character let it be known. Also, Light, Kaninabe, Mukou, and Passeriman are the best Fox players, in that order in my professional opinion lol! GO FOX 🦊
Leo is a phenomenal player but with a game as diverse as Smash no one player with any one character is going to remain the top player forever. Congrats to Kaninabe on this set, he's an insane talent. As for Leo, he needs to get back to work being the champ leads to complacency and he needs to be hungry again.
Im surprised leo wasnt going for many edge guards and letting Fox recover for free. And some of those side bs and smash attacks were kind of sus getting him punished. Thought overall it was a really fun match to watch.
Leo looks so demotivated after he lost and I don’t blame him he was so close. His losers set vs muteace he went byleth and got 3-0d despite losing each game convincingly. Feel like his loss here was too much for him
Kaninabe was playing better and Leo really should've just tried his hardest to close it out game 4 when he had arsene and NOT allow it to go to game 5. I do not understand why he went byleth versus mute though, that just seemed silly. That mu was already exposed at Genesis 9

I wish Leo punished kaninabe more for jumping off of ledge EVERY SINGLE TIME. He was mixing up his timings but come on how many times can you get away with it I agree, he should've stayed Joker versus Mute. I know he doesn't like that mu but he always beats Peaches with Joker.
Kanninabe took risks with the forward smashed and very predictable landing nairs but it paid off I think Leo got too comfortable and sort of playing the match up like it was Light cause in certain situations light would’ve got impatient and went for random upsmash but kanninabe was way more patient which won him this set
I'd say it was riskier doing the early, very predictable falling rebel guard, Kanny called it out perfectly he just fucked the spacing up. Overall I agree with you 100% tho. Leo definitely got complacent and was use to Light's fox where he typically throws more caution to the wind and it cost him the set.

Spoilers Was wholesome to see the crowd seeing for Leo sad he lost the set and he seemed quite upset seemed to have gotten to him surprisingly. Sad too see hope he finds confidence in a lineup of characters. His joker is great and I wish he kept faith in it this event after all it barely lost here.
