Dreamer was their entry for Eurovision Australia Decides (they came second). They were internally selected this year to compete at Eurovision 2023 at Liverpool. Fantastic band, been around for ages and have been putting out great music the last 15+ years. Also really nice people, they got fucked over by the Eurovision panel last year so getting a proper chance in 2023 is deserved. In terms of heavier stuff, I'd really recommend their song and video for "The Meaning Of I", also the videos for "Runaway" and "Submarine" are just so fun and beautifully shot.
Also you mention the light show, that's basically a bigger version of what they had for their online concert "A Voyage Through Time" that they shot during lockdown for Covid in 2021 when live music with crowds took a massive hit here in Aus, they basically hired a venue and put together a really high production show solely for their online stream.
Seeing you both loved dreamer. Youll fall in love with their cover of BREAK A BROKEN HEART. They should change their name to addiction, because once you start listening to their songs you cant stop listening. The music becomes a drug...
I'm ashamed to say I have never heard of them before this....But these Guys are freaking Awesome, what a catalog of huge tunes OMG I'm sold they are the Ducks Nuts....The Sound these guys produce is jaw dropping and amazing I'm an instant fan. Best Aussie Band I have heard since Jet and Wolf Mother best song in Eurovision is Promise by a country mile.
I love these guys so much, they know how to work the stage and the audience. Good luck in Liverpool 2023.
Along with LORD, easily one of the best bands to come out of Australia in the past two decades. Earlier albums were more traditional prog metal, and their evolution into something more djenty prog/80s synthpop has been fascinating. Keeping in mind this was written for the biggest international song competition in history and is designed to be as accessible as possible, it's not the most accurate example of what they do... but it's sure as Hell not inaccurate, either. Not easy to honestly call a band truly unique in this day and age, but they've managed it.
Be sure to check out their tracks like Hyperventilating, Ascension, Runaway etc.
Another very underated aussie band is Teramaze, they just released a great cover of the phil collins song, easy lover...
