I am a professional arborist turned forester and it is awesome to see a production logger in the South that also knows how to climb trees without spikes! Way to go! You probably could have set the pull rope from the ground, but regardless, good job!
How does on go about becoming an arborist or forester or a faller , I’ve been doing firewood as a side hustle for a while now but I have currently entered a time in my life where I could go forward with becoming one but I don’t know how to proceed is it something I need Togo back to school for or can I just go work for a tree service to get started ?
Hi Tim! I'm not a tree feller or any such thing like it. I'm a pipefitter that grew up on the farm and still do play farmer some. I've helped my best bud Tim take a few trees down near his house. What we do is get a rope high on the tree and rig one of them round IH weights half way on our rope, then tighten it up so it will pull continuously til the tree is in motion. The weight puts a LOT of pull into the equation. You don't have to worry about rope breakage, foot slippin off the clutch- any of that. ($.02)
It is so nice to watch how/when real professional does things.. Great safe job without any hassle. My hats off to you, sir!
Great video, professional tree man through and through! Keep up the great video!
That poison ivy is making me itch. Amazing they can spray something that kills that big old tree but not the nasty vine growing up the side. Nice job Cotontop!
I'm here everyday Tim. I always enjoy your videos. I don't comment a lot but I always hit the like button.
Keep em coming man.
My right leg was sore watching that climb up. Slick piece of work and nice vid too man
Tim I can't wait to see the climbing gear and tree trimming and cutting, great video.
Nice setup for climbing!

Great video Tim.
Nice job cutting that tree, very professional.
Well that was fantastic, the plan came together, enjoy when you brothers are working closely together what a team.
Your slingshot/reel invention is ingenious!
They sell them on the wish app pretty cheap
I was thinking the same thing!
I thought of this a while back and thought it was original lmao
Good video. Great job getting that tree down.
Great videos really like the video like all of your videos are awesome keep up the great work Mr Tim watching from south Mississippi
Nice job! Awesome vid. Nice boar cut and open face notch. That tree stayed on the stump all the way to the ground.
DANG!!! I'm only @ 5:46 and really impressed! Tim, you do know what you're doing, totally impressed with that job start to finish. BTW.....nice stump! lol

Excellent work Mr Tim, I enjoy all your vid's and would love to see a ride along in the tiger cat, that guy is a master of his art, love seeing how it traverses those steep inclines. 10/10 all round. 😀

Tim: "I once caught an Oak THIS.............................BIG."
Nice work on that bad leaner. Brought in the big guns.
Pretty cool. I'm sure those folks are glad to have that worry gone.
awesome video tim
Good job Tim
Another great video thanks for sharing with us. keep up the good work.
Nice job on that drop Tim Don't ya love it when a plan comes together LOL When I first started watching your channel you were posting a Geo Cach trip out to Kansas and some climbing vids haven't missed many since
Great video! Thanks
that's some purty slick southern engineering.. awsome👍
Thanks for using the proper safety stuff way too many so called pros on CZcams not using it
Tim that was done right it always make me nervous when the trees are leaning toward a house.
Nicely done
Great video
Great job!
COTTON I OWNED A LOGGING/TREE SERVICE HERE IN CENTRAL WISCONSIN. YOU DID EVERYTHING RIGHT. BUT WHEN I WAS UP IN THE TREE I MAYBE WOULD HAVE CUT AND LOWERED SOME OF THE LIMBS DOWN. BUT THAT TAKES TIME ALSO. I CLIMBED WHEN I NEEDED TO. I HAD A 60 FT BUCKET TRUCK.I OWNED FOREWARDERS/POLE SKIDDERS/STUMP GRINDER/CHIPPER.I WATCH WES / TRAVIS AND RYAN EVERYDAY.
Top video top climbing safely done
Love the banter
Enjoyed from the uk
Great video Tim 100 % professional just like always this is the first time I have commented so one logger to another thanks. Have a safe week in the woods and get lots of production. From a west Virginia logger to you have a good one.
+Justin Brown thank you justin.
Great video !!
Nice job!
Great job ....
I did enjoy it you do good video tim keep up the good work sir and you are welcome for the views
Tim thanks for the tiger car Vedio I know both Johnny and his brother I live about 45 minutes away from Williston fl never new that about them. I new there younger brother well the way he is in vedio Eddie is the same kinda no sugar coat on it if he tells it way it is won't meet nicer people than them. So thanks again for sharing .
When the tree is in someone's yard next to a swimming pool, how do you get rid of the stump? Stump grinder? Fun video to watch btw.
It is a real challenge to know for sure you have enough load on your pull line when you make that trip cut. I like that you used wedges for that extra safety measure. Very smart of you to assume the rope may part or the pull vehicle may slip. Not likely in this case but most folks are using the family 1/2 ton not a fellabuncher. Plunge cuts give stability till your ready and I like it best. I bet your like me and love to be able to watch the wedge get loose meaning all the energy needed to pull the tree where you want it is there. Great video!
Great video, but off the subject, and this is a compliment, up here in northern NH guys like to say, "get 'er done" and they try using your accent which is so fine. Unfortunately, as much as "get 'er done" is said, no one up here near the Canadian border will ever get the accent right. Back to basics, thanks for the excellent video.
Good job
Good job man! Maybe I will see ya in the field one day!
Correctional work 👍
Nice shot!
I took down an ash tree that was about 45" diameter with a tractor and my father in a neighbors tractor the same way. It was about 6' from my father's house. That was about 15 years ago. Glad to see how it is done correctly!! (Safely)
good show!!
That was a cool video
We use similar rigging for climbing inside grain bins. Amongst some other rigging like beam clamps that we will spider man across the under side of the bin top sometimes 80-110 feet off the floor. Fun fun
Another informative video. Thanks. Could your Tigercat feller-buncher have grabbed the standing tree and pulled it away from the house and pool?
Nice video! Got an old dead oak that's got a lean to it right next to a stockwater tank, we're gonna have to do it the same way. Gotta lay down barbwire fence and toss some blocking to lay down on to keep from breaking a shallow water line. This video helped me visualize it a lot better!
why not get a bucket truck and take the tree down in little pieces?
dead trees are very unpredictable to pull over
chris because they cost more money than we want to spend. We have everything we need to pull it similar to this video without it costing an arm and a leg.
chris why take an hour or two or three when you can be done 30 minutes.
WAY to go.
IT takes a lot of NERVE and GUTS to do as you do COTONTOP.
YOU have DEVELOPED a system that is no less than an art.
IT is a system that can be taught to others.
Awesome video, dam You are good at Your job.
Good cut
That looked like
fun with friends
not like work.
Stay safe
Nice safe climbing Tim. However I kinda expected you to practice your tree diving into the pool, Jason from Hollis Farms would have tried it. Lol. Great video thanks.
I'd call that working from the ground up! Good stuff right there 👍
I know I'm pretty randomly asking but do anybody know of a good website to watch new movies online?
@Martin Barrett I would suggest flixzone. Just google for it :)
Tim, you should get a patent on that sling-shot deal. Man I'm going to try that with an old fishing rod I don't use. 👍🏽
Damn fine job there.
Tim you have some bad to bone skills in climbing. Nice to see how a pro does it. Called our local guy a tree monkey, he seems more at home hanging on a rope than his feet on the ground.
Can some one explain why the help keep walking infront of the tree ? The climb looked good the actual tree fell not so much. My2c
Hey Tim. Great video. Looks like you have done that a few times. Lol. Decent log. Should be worth a few hundred. Later
Kevin Carver liked it all except the climbing part great video
Textbook drop. When you're close to property like that, you need as many things on your side as possible. You stacked the deck in favor of the home owner. I'm proud that our country has someone with your skills.
That's the way to cut ! I've cut hundreds of big trees that way ! Only I used a longer bar ! Dolmar 166 super , with a 50 " bar .
Nice!!!
Good vidja
I am wondering if that monster machine was brought in just for that tree?
I use to climb trees. nerve seen it done like that. always used spikes. Tied off with a climbers knot
Good vidja 👍👍👍
You have more balls than I do climbing and cutting trees than I do...
nice vid.!
shoulda seen this mosquito/tick spraying company near me had a bunch of seasonal kids spraying, no on thought to check the tank before dusting 5 lawns with what they thought was a pesticide but was actually roundup. Killed everything including full grown oaks
I don't understand why you didn't use the large cutter (tigercat?) while it was there. Was the lean too great?
Good job done Tim, Really enjoy your videos, Later Tate, Prestone
Thank you
Hey tim can you explain what is a geo cash i've never heard of that.
That climbing rig. Son. Mighty handy. Later
I would like to see a bigger saw on this job!
Damned if I can climb anymore! Used to not bother me, but now I can't turn loose to use my hands. No problem taking down big trees, if I can make a saw cut and use an excavator to finish the push.
Do you ever use a triple hinge?
Hey Tim, great video! This here is what i do almost every day, I also hang from the crane too, man I love your sling shot invention, fricken awesome!$!$ You should patent it, for real you should. I always wear spikes on a take down though. PS I love watching you, Jason@ HF, Wade, OLF, Chipper guy and Stumpjumper too. Like Toney the Tiger says, Therrreee grreeaaat 😅. Nothin better than a sharp saw.....
+Kevin McGann never hung from a crane but I'd love to do that.
cotontop3 If you ever have the opportunity to do it I recommend it, its a rush if ya know what I mean. Everything underneath you looks like lil ants moven around lol.
Dandy job! No animals were harmed during the production of this video, but a little sawdust was in the pool!😲😲
Nice
Where you goin' Scott ?
You are a bad a$$, I will give you that! Major cool video!
i wonder what kind of chemicals were sprayed . out where the skidder was looked like a dead zone.. wonder if the people there changed the pool water and washed down their house and lawn before letting the kids and pets play on the grass. and what's worse.. how many of them will die of cancer or leukemia and wonder how they got it way out there in nature.. makes me shiver. railroads spray their right of ways also to keep the weeds down. i wonder how many people know that. i live next to a freeway and have caught them spraying against the fence 12 feet from my open windows.
AWESOME
Awesome job Tim ,also watched Tigercat 25 video, it was great! Just subscribed. Later Taters!!!!!!!!
+Joey Farmall thank u Joey!
Tim...I also have climbing equipment. I use two CMI ascenders , (attached to foot loops, the other attached to harness), and use a figure 8 to get down. Is the descender you are using a Petzl ID Descender? It looks like a better procedure than I use. Can you list what you use? Dave
+Dave Schuetrum yes sir it's a petzl ID
