From 1988 through the mid 90s. I listened to MRN every Sunday. We did not have cable tv. Those broadcasters were the best.
Ditto. I remember that very well. Didnt have cable til '91 or so.
I remember having to go to the grocery store with mom on a Sunday as a kidand sitting in the car sweating my butt off listening to the race.
Also remember back in those days you'd see the show cars here and there. Like a Clyde Torkle chicken shack grand opening type of thing.
Not sure those those things still happen but it sure did get the kids attention. @michaelwilhelm562
Winston did a amazing job with making the Hall of Fame come to reality.
Dale, such a really mean, tough guy, right? A huge heart, did so much good for people, never wanted to be noticed for any of it.
Love the stories. Your Dad had such a big heart, but he did it the right way. Never wanted anything out of it, did it because it was the right thing to do. I admire that.
I sure do miss watching the races with my friends in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. Such a great period in my life.
Myself and a good friend were rabid Sr fans. It meant so much to hear Winston's stories!

🗣 WINSTON KELLEY, NASCAR Hall of Fame 🗣 I hope y'all watch this and read the comments. Don't you think it's about dang time y'all add Sam Bass to the HoF. If he didn't contribute to NASCAR then I'm totally misunderstanding the point of the Hall of Fame. I've never been but I'm gonna imagine that there are more of Sam's paintings, diecast's, guitar's, etc. than any other artist combined.
