Your teaching method is SO relatable! This video understandable to this 60 year old grandma that has sewn some, to my 12 year old granddaughter that hasn’t; without needing a translation. Good on you!

I would never have thought of drawing on the original pants. I am planning to make pants today so this was perfect timing for me! Thank you for explaining everything so clearly!

Thank you so much - I could follow every single thing you said. It was clear and concise without being too fussy. But you still included really useful stuff, like when you said you “had a feeling that the back centre seam has stretched through wear” and you decided not to adjust the paper pattern. It all seems so obvious now after watching the video, but it would not have occurred to me if I hadn’t watched this.
I also wouldn’t have thought about marking centre points along the legs and the knee, crotch and other points. I can see clearly now why these are crucial. You’re an absolute angel ❤
So I wish I’d seen this video 50 years ago, when I started making my own clothes - it would have saved me a lot of unpicking and constant trying on till got the right pattern for my own body! 😂😂😂
Love your hard work and dedication to your viewers. It’s so valuable. Bless you. ❤

I like the idea of using reference points, rather than just tracing the pants. Seems more accurate. I’d love for you to try the Top Down, Center Out method of pants fitting. It’s a game changer on fitting pants. They come out perfect without nearly as much fussing.

This was so helpful!! Thank you! I have a favorite pair of jeans. I love everything about them. I've been wanting to make a couple of pairs in linen so I can have the perfect pants for summer wear, but my jeans have a total of four darts in the back and I couldn't figure out how to replicate the darts in my linen versions. Now I know! Thank you again!

It does not matter what you use as long as you measure correctly :) inches vs centimeters won't affect the fact that you are dividing something in half, or by 4 or by 6. I use both, inches and centimeters, depending what is the most convenient option in the moment.

Yes it would be, but my focus was to show how I would do that if was still wearing them, the same way I did it with other copied garments on my channel.

Very informative but I am wondering; to eliminate concern for the curvature of the crotch lines, could you not just turn the pants inside out, put one leg of the garment within the other (noting the seams lines/front and back) then just trace? Just a thought.
