I have the stems over on Discord if you would like them! link in description
oh man. to hearing those riffs and layers gives me chill. how kanami wrote those riffs and layer and then other instrumens and vocals and gather them together. such a talented and genius hardworker musicians.
Band maid is one of those bands where I can hear the song so many times and still pick up new details within the song. Shows the effort they put in to their music to not just repeat things constantly through the whole song.
Thanks a lot! There's so much in here I hadn't heard. I can't believe how they hide all these incredible riffs and then "throw them away".
Really liked the isolated tracks. They really show how the different instruments add their parts to give us the Maids' sound.
Can't explain it but the vocals, through the entire song... seems more. And that last phrase from Saiki just slays me.
Those layers are crazy, they recorded a lot of vocals laters
Akanes drums really add to this song.
Thanks Alan. Love hearing the isolated tracks. I particularly like the sound of Akane's snare ringing out into the breaks when the rest of the instruments drop out. I'm assuming it's her Ludwig Black Beauty because it's what I think a brass snare should sound like. It seems that ring gets gated out much of the time so I really like this mix.
This is part of the standard spiel I comment on new reactors. Your reaction is a treasure good sir:
The greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century.
•Unless you are superhuman, you will not/ can not be able to pick up everything they're doing to make that song great on the first listen.
•More hooks, riffs and motifs in many songs than most bands have on an album. Check it out. No hyperbole.
•Make no mistake, this is not a regular band.
Misa Misa Misa she the reason I’m learning bass guitar 🎸 😊🤘love Band-Maid!!!
Alan, thanks so much for that AWESOME break-down and analysis of "Protect You". WOW!!!!!
Yes, I'm an old man and set in my ways, because I still believe Band-Maid is the best damned rock band on earth.
Now, listening to their music has led me to discover other J-Rock band I really like including, Hanabie, Nemophila, Love-Bites, Baby Metal, Seiseega, Hades, Whiskey Dust, and more. Their talent, creativity and, innovation, makes me appreciate Band-Maid even more.
I understand that the Grendizer anime is very popular in France. I wonder if that is why there are so many ,"Ou la, la, la, las" in it.
THIS BAND ALWAYS HITS IT OUT OF THE PARK ..NO MATTER WHAT
Nice!.I was waiting for some isolated tracks. This songs comes plenty of tricks and treasures inside. Thank you!
Great analysis. I think the traditional instrument is a Koto.
yep, I was waiting for this all day,
Awesome video man! I really love the breakdown part with the multiple tracks because I missed a lot even though I listened to this song A LOT!
I feel like Akane is teasing double time but keeps dropping it. It gives the song almost a halting drive - really interesting. And transitioning with just a short double bass rhythm sounds really cool. MISA's bass sounds like the strings are 10 feet long.
I have to go back Listen to PROTECT YOU again😢, after done with yours here😅. Thanks a lot Man.
Any time!
Knew the descending koto(harp) part was gonna cause a reaction from Alan. I really loved Akane's playing different in the first half vs second half on this one
❤️
The sound/tone of the interlude is thought to be the koto:琴, a traditional Japanese string instrument.
loving this song, its just amazing, so fast paced, catchy, rockish and the instrumentals mixing so well
Great job with the review, also I'm a huge fan with the separation of instruments. So thanks for that as well 🙂
🤘❤🔥🤘
Thanks for this, it really helped me appreciate the song and band even more!
This is the music from the end credits of Grendizer U!
Ahh no wonder I wondered why I've heard this song before.
Grendizer U, based on UFO Robo Grendizer from 1974 created by Go Nagai of Mazinger Z, Cutey Honey and Devilman fame among other works.
@@vicserr1 Yes. 1975.
I watched the first episode of the anime and preferred this ED song over the OP, which was by GLAY. I think the studio should be happy with this high energy song for their action/mecha show. Of course BAND-MAID also wrote lyrics that fit the show.
Definitely have to check it out
@@dicodec The anime is a remake of a show from 1975 and only has a 6.1 on MAL, so I can’t recommend watching it unless you’re into old school mecha.
Glay's song "Kaishin no Ichigeki" [Grendizer U OP] will drop on July 31
@@VegetaRabbitprobably people that didn't grow up or can't appreciate the greatness of the Super Robot genre.
@@vicserr1I don't get It, I've seen the 4 episodes out right now and looks perfectly fine. Even from non mecha fans, this feels weirdly harsh. I wonder if a part is the fans of old Duke, because he looks more childish compared to the old series.
Thanks for breaking this down and shining a light on its intricacies. Great work!
I love how you can break down the tracks. That is very cool! I have my ticket to see Lovebites in SF in Septamber and I am really hoping Bridear comes somewhere near me so I can crosss another bucket list band off.
Thank you Alan another banger perfectly dissected my man keep up the good work.
Thanks, Alan! I didn't even notice some of these details. I think you're right about the general aim of the song: I feel like with these anime commissions Kanami is always searching for the space between "here's some solid hard rock for the weebs" and "here's some extra layers and flourishes for the fans."
Really good in depth analysis. This is lalalalalalalala growing on me.
Thanks for the reaction and the breakdown analysis. I didn't catch the high notes by Miku originally. So much more to unpack and loving it more and more as I hear more and more I initially didn't hear. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
Since Like 2019 there was not a Single Simple Straight Foreward Band Maid Song. You always find New Layers and Details in their Songs.
As always Alan is an excellent analyzer.
He pointed out the hidden flavor.
It's Kanami's guitar phrases are bluesy.
Thank you, Alan. Good point.
This song needs the "White Room" treatment on the extended Bluray on their new album. As usual, it would be a different song. Thanks for the isolation analysis, Po! 🦍🍌 for Miku, she is now in Grad skool, Po!
🤘🤘🤘
Ouh là là, Band-Maid!
Thanks Alan. Love your breakdowns. They really help a layman such as me understand the song better. I agree, that riff is incredible. I wish they could have made it stand out more. Kanami is a genius. I think we know that by now. 😃
I enjoy his analysis.
Miku supported the music with her outrageous high tones.
What an amazing band to be able to play this live.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
I know All the great guitarist i dare to say that. BUT Nobody Plays them Solos Like Kanami does it. So creative So many Playing Styles in One Solo.
Please tell us again which software you use to isolate the tracks.

but you can always hit me up in discord for the stems
@@dicodec Thanks
Yeah! You got it! Finally someone mentioned the traditional instrument mini-breakdown! Yeah I think it's Koto. It continues into second verse. So cool right?
I actually think Kanami's solo is a breath of fresh air in the song that's so busy and chaotic with the nice balance of feel, groove and still a bit of chaos in it.
Also love Saiki's ascending vocal run in the second verse, which sounds like what I hear often in Indian or Middle eastern music. Actually the Band-Maid gang assault in the beginning and end also has the middle eastern vibe 'I think'.
That is exactly why the solo stood out, I love how she does that

Thanks Guys i really Like You since You first Reacted to Nemophila and Band Maid.
You always have great Takes on the Songs and as musicians You hear Stuff i dont hear.
Really don't care for the intro. It gives out "Babymetal" vibes.
Nothing wrong with BABYMETAL, there's a reason they're so successful.
@mirage1729 Yes, I understand their fan base is somewhat lager, but Babymetal music is heavily synthesize, and overly backtrack. Where BandMaid is strait hard and in your face rock. If you like Babymetal there's no shame in your game, the world is big enough for both flavors
