I think it’s more meant to parody the show, sorta like how Lego Batman isn’t necessarily meant to appeal to hardcore Batman fans (if they even exist lol) but was just meant to be a funny movie that pokes fun at the source material. And I think the Lego ninjago movie fulfilled that role, even if I would’ve preferred an actual Lego ninjago movie.

Nah but him getting 2 arms isn’t realistic, Like cmon? Really? A snake bitten by a spider? They just replaced a cool reason for a stupid reason for comedy which wasn’t a good as the original, like getting 4 arms from a hellish realm is better than being bitten by a snake that’s somehow bitten by a spider.
I'm not sure if Lloyd is really a problematic character with him being the leader and all that, at least in the context of the movie. However, in the show, he is the leader as well. By the time we get to Season 7, the ninja all say that Lloyd has to fill the place of Master Wu and become Master Lloyd. I mean, all the ninja freak out and say, "Oh no, we don't have a master anymore!" before Jay walks up to Lloyd and says, "Yes we do. It has to be you, Lloyd." All the ninja see Lloyd as their leader. Even as far back as Season 5 when Morro corrupts Lloyd, all the ninja act lost without their leader, Lloyd, and each of them try to take charge and become the new leader. So, with him acting like the leader in the movie, it does actually stay in tune with the context of the show.

I rewatched the first season recently, right after rewatching Avatar The Last Airbender, and I realized that, while I can still enjoy Avatar, even the best parts of Ninjago don't look so good once you've grown up. Didn't enjoy the film much either and I saw it before the show, the trailers didn't help I think it would have worked better as a Nexo Knights movie actually, since that show is more lighthearted, as a silly but still menacing villain, a leader with parental (in this case Clay with his mom) issues and took place in a more futuristic setting like the film does
I think the movie had nothing to do in the ninjago timeline and that it was just to make money like Zane using a bow and arrow I think Lego has gone insane

@@zoomedcheese Sons of garmadon does the gritty serious tone much better than hunted, harumi is at her best in sons of garmadon, Lloyd's character arc of how harumi affects him by the end of the season is really great, the villains actually win, the ninja vs samurai x fight has the most hardcore graphics in the show, the chase themes like back alley brawl go HARD, garmadons true potential and harumi's betrayal are some of the best scenes in the show and have some of the best music in the show, cole has character focus, the whole quiet one mystery is still really interesting looking back at the suttle hints that it is harumi, the season is very re watchable, the wu flash backs are really great and garmadon has one of the best lines in the show "I have no son" (not saying hunted is not great it definetly is it comes very close and at points can be just as good)
