  • Hey all - in this Pro Scale Models presents Train Yardz video - we're gonna do a really nice layout tour plus interview with Brian Glock. This is the second episode of the series that I'd like to continue with the interviews all across GA, and then maybe other states to come. If you know anyone in GA who'd be willing to allow me to interview them and showcase their layout - let me know in the comments below. I really hope you all enjoy this new series and looking forward to more. Peace y'all.

My teenage son has is getting into the model railway hobby slowly but surely. He's been looking at second-hand rolling stock as a cheap way to get started. Have to say I'm pretty impressed with his efforts so far.

Very nice layout and excellent video. A lot of what Brian said rings true for me. I'm somewhat younger than he is, but grew up not only with the influence of John Allen but also E.L. Moore, whose modeling had a rural character that really attracted me. As a kid, I would buy whichever magazine had an article by either one of them (and don't forget Jim Findlay, who built a number of superb structures for John's' Gorre and Daphetid as well as his own Tioga Pass, a fairly small but very well done layout.). Later, I got into building kits, especially the Roundhouse old time freight cars, and painting/lettering them for local railroads that weren't available ready to run. Buying something completely assembled and plopping it down on the layout just can't compare to the satisfaction in this approach to the hobby.

Beautiful presentation. Down to earth and true.... I don't want to date myself but a lot of what Brian stated was relatable as far as youth's interest today and the state of the hobby. That's why we need Bro's like you carrying on this good message. Great layout. Classic thanks for Pt.1&2. You must of had a BLAST operating. LUCKY DUDE!

My dad had that Lionel engine that had working lights, and smoke from the top. Along with the coal car with actual coal. I didn't know how much I miss him, and his trains
My dad use to run his trains for hours, and I use to sit and watch with wide eyes. Still get that feeling when I see these videos

I've been following your video's for a while. This interview was awesome, very professional and informative. I would have liked to see more of his layout but just to hear the conversation was great. I hope to have my layout shown off one day when it's getting close to being complete.

Thanks for the share! Mr. Glock has a stunning layout and him being a MMR doesn't surprise me. I've been working towards the certifications of becoming a MMR myself and I can say, it's not an easy feat. - Jason

Model railroading is so expensive now and younger generations don't have disposable income like older generations did. And younger generations don't have the interest in railroads like older guys but there are younger guys working for freight railroads and tourist railroads, even commuter railroads and Amtrak. So the career interest is there. There are also train simulators on computer like Trainz, Dovetail Train Simulator, Microsoft Train Simulator but it's a bit dated now, it came out in 2001. Trainz came out in 2002 and it has gone through upgrades with newer versions, the latest ones are TANE SP4, TRS19 and TRS22. Trainz is the easiest to build routes with.
