I fucking love how he looks back at the other players kind of implying “couldn’t do this without you guys…” I’ve met him twice and he really is an exceptional human.
I'm not a big Pearl Jam fan. However, I saw this on Letterman when it first aired. Since then I have watched this clip hundreds of times. God damn...this is what rock is all about. It's totally blazing, balls to the walls, take no prisoners, set your amps to 11. If ever I'm feeling bad I put this on my audio system and crank it all the way up and let it rip!! It makes me feel ALIVE. Vedder is the man...dude you know the answer to it all. Thank you.
Omg!! I Can't get enough of this performance. It was done for a Friend by a true friend. It doesn't hurt that Eddie Vedder is the most beautiful man on the planet as well❤❤
I was putting my 5 year old daughter to bed and we were working on her reading when her bedroom door creeped open and my daughter quickly turned and pretended to be asleep when her 2 year old brother walked in crawled into her bed with the biggest smile and tried to wake her up. I immediately thought of this song and now it’s my favorite song ever
It seems like he wasn't anticipating the piano intro to work so well without the guitar. I'm a numnuts so I know nothing, but seemed like he made a split decision to let it just roll
As you age you too will find that while your talent AND spirit remains, it's the energy that lessens. Just as the case with Eddie, watch at the 3 minute mark and tell me his spirit has diminished!
Don't get that comment, have you seen him in concert with his boys, not sure why they couldn't be there, but let me assure you, his spirit is very alive, it has to be, he is now carrying the entire legendary Seattle grunge movement on his shoulders, not like that is important to him, it's just good music
Wow you are so fucking dumb it's scary. Can't play the guitar?. The man is 1nof the best acoustic and ukulele players on the planet you dumb fuck. Wow we are surrounded by fucking idiots
That was not a guy going through the motions, but a performer with passion. Vedder is truly a legend.
so well said.
He is one of a kind and we all get to share it ...
Truly said❤
The way he leand back towards david while being hugged from behind, gives that young eddie vibe. So humble and cool
I fucking love how he looks back at the other players kind of implying “couldn’t do this without you guys…” I’ve met him twice and he really is an exceptional human.
Eddie will go down in history as not only one of the most beautiful voices, but a true poet. His words are so moving
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL COMMENT I LOVE IT!!!!!GRACIAS AMIGO ....THUMBS UP!!!
He wrote this song in high school and first performed it in '89. It's still here today and still amazing
Hugh school?
Im a man..i love pearl jam.i crying because Eddie deserves so much.look how far hes comes.😢im happy.❤
Only Eddie can make this song sound like a lullaby
Love how he is so professional and keeps playing after stings are broke and just tosses the pick.
What an absolute living legend this man Eddie Vedder…
Best late night of anything that I have ever seen.
The jump at the end just makes me love and respect him even more.
Love the fact that the audience is on their feet during the entire song. Never seen that before on Letterman.
For all of the Live on Letterman sets the crowds stand.
It happened on every single song that was played there.
@@adamk1520Not FOR MIDNIGHT OIL...I attended
Back when late night shows were worth watching

Same here. Pearl Jam is not my cup of tea but this song is a pure masterpiece.
It took me a bit to get into them, but once you find a tune of their's that hits the spot, theres no reason why you shouldn't dig deeper.
I remember when this first aired, great performance
Omg!! I Can't get enough of this performance. It was done for a Friend by a true friend. It doesn't hurt that Eddie Vedder is the most beautiful man on the planet as well❤❤
Same
That had a lot of smackings of 1996 eddie. Brought me back. Miss those days.
Love the Vedder Letterman bromance!!!
Yes I believe e.going through lots😢
I come back to this live performance all the time.
I was putting my 5 year old daughter to bed and we were working on her reading when her bedroom door creeped open and my daughter quickly turned and pretended to be asleep when her 2 year old brother walked in crawled into her bed with the biggest smile and tried to wake her up. Broken string , rock n roll
Wow
Broken string. No sweat for the king.
It seems like he wasn't anticipating the piano intro to work so well without the guitar. I'm a numnuts so I know nothing, but seemed like he made a split decision to let it just roll
David Letterman said that I'm a better man
Love that Eddie's not using in-ears
3:23 broken string
Arriba PEARL JAM 👌😉🤘
it tears me down how he got old, the talent remains yet spirit is gone. I grow up with your songs Eddie, thanks for everything
As you age you too will find that while your talent AND spirit remains, it's the energy that lessens. Just as the case with Eddie, watch at the 3 minute mark and tell me his spirit has diminished!
Eddie hasn’t lost his spirit he’s just emotional
Don't get that comment, have you seen him in concert with his boys, not sure why they couldn't be there, but let me assure you, his spirit is very alive, it has to be, he is now carrying the entire legendary Seattle grunge movement on his shoulders, not like that is important to him, it's just good music
Where is your voice? Stop smoking, heal it fast!
The man hasn't lost a thing! With so many imposters on the rock scene, to still have a vital and sincere EV is a blessing.
Pure quality unlike the shite pumped out these days
There is still great music being made every day. You’re not looking hard enough.
He’s a man!
looks like David Byrne on solo guitar ;)
Sid McG never got enough credit.
Love Eddie Vedder. Letterman... no.
Eddie wrote this song while in High School!
The tempo was spot on… never really enjoy rush tempo from matt cameron
i came in a hurry to watch this song because i just heard the Post Malone cover.
My god! It was Awful
How poignant those words have become…
His voice already left him.
bullshit, just watch the band get lit the fuck up
Looks like Bam Margery
love eddie but man does he ever suck at guitar. broke the string. wrong cords the entire time lol
Man Eddie can´t play guitar for shit lol
you can't
@@theresapaez513 I’m just saying Stone and Mike are miles ahead it’s funny but not ha ha funny I’m just saying
Wow you are so fucking dumb it's scary. Can't play the guitar?. The man is 1nof the best acoustic and ukulele players on the planet you dumb fuck. Wow we are surrounded by fucking idiots
Really terrible vocals here unfortunately
I don't see how. He is on key, just can't belt like he used to so much.
It might be due to years of smoking damage done to his vocal cords
