Jason really boils things down.
hope it goes well
Jason nailed it. Unfortunately the team cant buyout Norris cause he was on LTIR before the deadline (I looked it up, I was hoping they could, but they can't), so ya there is no other option but ride Norris out now until his contract expires and hope he finds his game again, cause at a 2/3 buyout after this off-season, it makes no sense now buying him out, so I dont know how Staios fixes this team with 7M more going on the cap with Sanderson, and who knows with Pinto. The problem here will be, can they afford to re-sign Pinto and still make the changes they need, or do they look to move Pinto if the cap hit is too steep that Staios cant do anything, cause you cant run this same roster with the result they had. You arent going to sell many season tickets with this roster.
Josh Noris has lots of good value, you can get starting Goaltending, that's where the problem is, Josh Noris is really good peirce for any team, Senators needs little bit more cap room, same with Chopot
Jason hit the bull's eye again. Many people are upset at Dorion for his contract but he was offering some much potential at the time that he was offered that big contract. My main concern about Josh Norris beside his health is the scarcity of primary assists. Great shot but it sure helps a centre if if he can make nice passes. He should practice with Stutzle during the summer.
This is EXACTLY why you don’t sign people on potential after 1 good year. I’m still old school and believe you have to earn a contract.
Exactly. Dorion did not use the RFA to its fullest. I get he was trying to get cheap, but its a huge gamble, especially with a guy who had past shoulder injuries before he joined the roster. Also Dorion said at the 2020 draft, they arent keeping everyone they drafted. Long and behold, he kept them all.
@@chrisfortin984 the crazy part is that he never learned a lesson. You would think after Colin White he would have learned but nope.
@@user-md3ij9oc9q Yip. We had a gambling GM, that cant put a team together right. He reminds me of a gambler and a collector, which is the worst type of GM possible. Im more surprised it took the Dadonov incident to fire him and not from his horrible resume as a GM with this team, and since Staios really cant do much for another 4 years, we stuck with this debacle until contracts can expire. The frustrating part is just getting away from the Zaitsev/ Colin White tie-up, and follow it up with this.
@@chrisfortin984 agreed with most of your comments. I don’t think he was a gambler, more like uncompetent with no plan.
I do agree we are screwed for at least 2 yrs IF salary cap keep going up and if Norris can return to form. Hopefully salary cap get near $100M within 2 yrs and then based on current roster and current cap space (I know it will change), we’d have $22M to sign 4-5 guys. That can work.
Sadly you’re risking no injuries as we have no depth in AHL to help out when injuries occur.
@@user-md3ij9oc9q Debrincat, for 3 draft picks, including a 7th overall, to a guy who didnt want to be here from the word "trade". Still put up 28, but he gambled on him resigning, and chewing up..what..6.5M? This was less of a gamble than the Chychrun trade. Cost us a high first and 2 seconds, and we didnt need him at all. Look at all these long term high salary contracts signed after one year of playing, and feed 8M pers. Trading guys off who did work, like Mark Stone, JG Pageau, who perfectly played the third line center role, Erik Karlsson for the return it was (dont count the #3 pick cause no one saw that coming. We saw a late first), trading away Demelo for a third rounder, which was a terrible move, as he was a great partner for Chabot, that earned Chabot the 8M contract, then got rid of him.
Was he incompetent with no plan, ya definitely. It just adds to the crapshoot that was Pierre Dorion. Thats why the forward lines are built the way they are. All the same type of players, so teams can easily play against this team, no matter what line is out there.
Sens are doomed :(
