Someday when mankind has evolved and perhaps reached enlightenment, Nofx will finally be recognized as one of the, if not, the greatest band. The Decline: case closed.
At first I thought it would be a cover of Alkaline Trio's song Radio! I was waiting for the "Shakin', Like a dog shittin' razorblades" lol, but this is still awesome!
oh man, the concert in Tahoe on the 3rd of jan was gnarly/rad we destroyed security guards, tables and basic rules and general health codes at Monte blue.......
If you're talking about their latest three albums, then I completely agree: no substance whatsoever. But from 39/Smooth to 21st Century Breakdown, Billie Joe Armstrong and the Green Day crew were always doing what they liked and, not only making very intelligent criticisms of the punk rock community from which they came from, but also wrote great songs about mortality, social archetypes, media overload and its impact on our culture, anxiety, what it means to have artistic integrity, etc.
When I first heard this version and the original version by Rancid, I initially assumed the latter was the cover! Everyone bitching that they "ruined" this song is stupid; you might prefer the original and not like this one, but it's an excellent cover in a completely different style. I mean, does anyone think Cake ruined "I Will Survive"? Surely not. Both versions are great in their own right.
@magicalwrath to be fair they kind of are, they've done loads of reggae style songs, check out best god in show or eat the meek.. although im sure you probabaly already have lol
william gordon sent me here. I've been a Rancid fan since I was a wee lass in middle school. NOFX... eh, not so much. Albeit, I like this version. It's not butchered. Maybe I'll listen to more NOFX...?
And yes, many bands have been told by others that they aren't punk and left the community. But I wonder just how many of them left of their own accord. I bet you that some of them had always had clear-cut ideas ideas of who they were as people (ideas which the philosophy of punk was absolutely congruent with) and the punk community, believing them not to be punk, relentlessly beat the ideals out of them until they weren't sure who they were anymore. :P
Last I checked, The Clash didn't check out of the mainstream department. They died in it. The Ramones are practically a household name now. Johnny Rotten does butter advertisements for Christ's sake, and it doesn't look like he's going to stop anytime soon. Are these people not punk despite what they've done?! Also, if your beef is that you DON'T LIKE Green Day, then that's one thing. But to say that they aren't punk, well, that's an entire different story.
i have to admit i laffed when the "never trust a hippy" album artwork popped up. i snitched on a priest once for masturbating in front of me he thought i was blind AND a young boy. i was none of those things so i just raised hell. its hard to catch a priest.
So, really man, I feel like, as long as the music you're making is a sincere effort of your artistic abilities, and as best an expression of who you are as a person as you can muster, then who is to say you aren't writing music that could be considered "punk?" And if you're truly an outsider who feels misunderstood or is fed up with something about humanity, and you manage to express those feelings through your music, then you're definitely punk rock.

That's a weird way to spell the Clash.
It took you 9 years to come up with that?
You sound just like my boss. He's a great guy and just this month took me to see nofx.

Uno de los mejores covers de NOFX.
Como es la original?
@@cabranegra1638, la original me gusta más.
Punk rock is a music genre, so the musical style is really important when it comes to determine if a band is punk rock or not
i love the original. too. but this interpretation is very well
Oh man. March. I get to see these guys live. I'm so fuckin hyped
Chris Welcome lucky
Gone smokin'.

The Music is really Rock......
Hahahaaa, I Like it...
Ska but comes from reggae and people should be ashamed they calling it pop punk or what ever.
I don’t understand why this isn’t on Spotify...
The split came out on BYO Records and BYO has removed their catalog from Spotify as they felt they were getting ripped off. Can't blame them.
Spotify sucks dead arse

I don't see why they would be talking shit about GREEN DAY because Fat Mike is friends with Billie Joe Armstrong
It's NOFX. They talk about everybody like South Park
As of their latest three albums, you might be right, but everything from 39/Smooth to 21st Century Breakdown is definitely punk.
actually not half bad
correct
For love
Just saw them on the 29th. It was awesome. I loved that they played this song and that Mike fucked up the lyrics to Creeping On Sara.
Pop-punk is still punk, mang.
No
@@Dani-ir3pz Yes
@@zimshowfan the words pop and punk mean the total opposite therefore pop punk isn’t punk. Also this isn’t pop punk this is ska punk
@@Dani-ir3pz Nope. Pop-punk is just catchy, super-melodic punk rock.

Yeah that BYO Split Series with Rancid was bada** I think NOFX killed it on that album even though I’m a way bigger Rancid fan.
