In this 12th and final episode of On Edge, the teams put the final touches on their programs ahead of the Beijing 2022 Olympics. Gabby and Guillaume, back from a win at the French National Championships, are focused on beating their Russian rivals at the Games. Madison and Zach, skating for their last time at the US National Championships, go head to head against Madison and Evan. Scott Moir explains what it takes to make an Olympic podium.

I love Madison Chock, she is stunning, but the French team is the best - it's the one where both skaters are fabulously outstanding skaters and I like the special twist of the French team, where it's the boy who is really pretty and the girl who has the charm factor! I believe the coolest ending would be a Montreal Sweep at the Ice Dancing event...with Gabi and Guillaume winning the gold, then Madi C and Evan winning the silver and Madi H and Zach winning the bronze! All these teams have the best coaches...Marie-France, Patrice, Romain, Sam and all the coaching staff totally rock!!!

Madison and Evan came across as much nicer people in this series than Madison and Zach.
Yes, and after seeing Madi C and Evan's performance with the Team Event (ice dance free skate), I can imagime them taking the overall lead over Madi H and Zach with the ice dance event!
Madison Hubbell talking about winning gold just comes across as delusional when you take into account P/C are way better than them; the only way they have a chance at gold is if something goes horribly wrong for P/C.
She is delusional. I also love how they glossed over H/D losing Nationals to a superior Chock and Bates. Wish they’d shown Hubbel blubbering on the podium and sucking up all the attention during Madi and Evan’s moment. I’m so tired of her. PLEASE RETIRE!
@Rina Poly Katsalpov could also clearly see them but kept skating towards them. It's his job to keep his partner safe when she can't see what's behind her. Both Donohue and Katsalapov should have moved out the way. And if they had collided, H/D could have been hurt too so implying they did it deliberately makes absolutely no sense. Plus it happened so quickly I doubt anyone had much time to think.
Indeed her declarations come off a bit strange, especially after losing US Nats to Chock/Bates, to say nothing of Papadakis/Cizerone, Katsalapov/Sinitsina, Stepanova/Bukin.
@@thesupremediva "Glossed over"? This is a 14 minute video about numerous ice dance teams. How much time did you want them to spend talking about H/D losing to C/B? They even showed video of some of the mistakes in their RD. And you're criticizing Madi because she was crying? Seriously? They even said that they lost because they made mistakes. There's nothing to criticize them for here.

So many people criticise Hubble for being vocal about her goals and that she wants to win gold. She's an amazing skater and yes, PC are better, but as an athlete you need something to keep you going and dream big. I bet olympic gold and being the best is a dream of every athlete, and especially if you really are an elite athlete and have potential, why is it considered so bad to say it?
True, one has to dream big, but there is a difference between solid ambition and wishful thinking. In Hubbell's case it does sound like the latter when one takes into account the actual results over the last few years.

@@MsHappykay They came in first in the team rhythm dance. Yes, the U. S. won the team silver. Whether that changes in the wake of the Russian doping scandal or not, we'll see. The Americans were happy to have silver, and tried to get the IOC to allow them to receive the medals while they were there, but they wouldn't give it to them. They wanted to wait until the doping thing is worked out. As if it ever will be.

There is something confusing to me, if by any chance you have an explanation feel free to let me know: why do all competing team train all in Montreal and seem to share coaches? For how long is this situation and isn't it disturbing for teams?
I can't really give you a definitive answer,but from what I know the Montreal Academy has a really big level of prestige and many of the most successful skaters train there. As for sharing coaches? Maybe not the best idea long term,but it doesn't seem to bother the athletes at all.The coaches don't seem to have a favourite team either from this documentary and I think this matters to the teams as well
as they said, it's emulating ! it's great to have healthy competition
Since 2014. Romain joined Marie, and Gabi and Guillaume followed Romain (their coach) to Montreal. Their early success made huge impact. They collaborate with lots of other choreographers and coaches, and Patrice Lauzon (Marie's husband) handles the logistics so everyone gets equal time and different coaches -- although Romain and Marie oversee everything. But it all started in 2014 and with the World Championship win in 2015 of Papadakis and Cizeron. School grew and grew and became known as THE place to go for elite ice-dancing.
I don't know any coaches who can afford to coach only one person or team. And I think even if someone could afford to do that, they might not want to. It might not be stimulating enough work for them. Both Davis & White and Virtue & Moir were coached by Marina Zoueva at the same time.
You always want to compete with the best if you want to get better. It really is that simple and the coaching in Montreal has been acknowledged as one of the best arenas to skate in

My son wants to know how you get money to practice and go to events.?
They’ll get funding form their respective federations, some have sponsorships from companies by doing adverts etc, prize money from isu competitions, shows in the off season. Their federations pay for travel etc to competitions.
