  • Mallard no. 4468 set a world speed record for a steam locomotive of 126 miles per hour, a record that still stands today! This documentary showcases the locomotives last tour in 1963 and the restoration efforts during the 1980's to prepare it for some limited runs from 1985 through to 1988 before it's retirement as an exhibition in the York museum.

2018 marks the 80th anniversary since mallard broke the world record
And we are now in 2024 and it’s now a record breaking 86th anniversary
And there’s no rumours about when it will be coming back

      1: Bad grammar lol
2: Mallard will never get restored again, the museum wants to keep as much of the original locomotive as they can.
      3: an 80th anniversary isn’t as important as 75 or 100
