Are you saying no one was dancing at this show? I wasn’t there I don’t know, I didn’t even know Melvin was playing at the capital. Was he playing at the capital Theatre in Passaic New Jersey? I can’t believe I missed it.
@@billshechtman1524 I'm sure there were people dancing but mostly at shows now it's people chit chatting and pointing cell phones at the band.... People use to be more engaged and really cutting some rug!
@@johnedmonds2159 Thanks John! I realized it after I posted, didnt recognize him at first. He rocks, I believe golden gate wingman his other band, are playing at skull and roses 4/20 weekend! Tons of great bands there and I hope it will be broadcast again like last year !
Everyone deluded themselves into thinking "Trey was the obvious pick" when he was anything but. Sure he's a famous great guitar player in a sort of similar genre but aside from those one off shows with Phil in 1999 he was never part of anything Dead related, it didn't make sense to me. I'd have maybe liked a rotating cast, perhaps multiple guitarists in a single show or more likely one show with John, one with Stu, one with Warren, etc. There is an established cast of guitarists they all played with over the years and they went with none of them and chose a guy they'd never played with. But I guess it worked so whatever. Either way I've never gone back to the recordings some 9 years later anyway.
No offense to the saxophone player because he is talented but personally I won’t bother going to see them with a sax player. I’ve seen the Jerry Garcia Band with and without Clarence Clemons and while it’s enjoyable in the moment I would prefer the focus remain on Melvin and the guitar. When I saw this band recently the focus was more on the saxophone and it got old quick. Just my one and a half cents!
I figured others felt the same as I did when it came to horns with the Dead and Jerry band, always thought they cluttered the sound and were distracting, love horns but I'm there to see Jerry
Remember when people were dancing at shows?!?? When I go to shows again....I WILL DANCE!! Thank you music!

Most of the people there are old…
Mostly cuz its tough to get to the bar at shows like this. When I go see cover bands at a local bar the place will be jumping.
I hope you dance and smile a lot the next show . Ppl still dance at shows
Best fill in , future Jerry fingers guitar player ever- this guy was everything, the best!! Keep rocking!!
who is he? Thanks!
@@RobertMcEntee it’s John Kadlecik, founding member of Dark Star Orchestra

I’m casting my vote for John K to join the boys summer of 25 for the 60th anniversary shows!
Should have been John K and not Tray at the farewell shows

Yes, I am not knocking the sax, I’ve seen plenty of jazz music including Branford, Joshua Redman among others but for me I would let the guitar shine!

the band needs a female singer. best sax player was David Murray that I ever saw the guys.
Certainly exceptions but I mostly feel the same in regards to horns with GD/JGB music
