Am i the only one that enjoys the instrumental more than Danger Zone? Nothing against it. I just love how the synth emphasizes heroism and the stakes when flying at the same time .
It is THE best into to a movie ever. The quiet beginning music, the smoke whipping across the deck, the silhouettes, the background radio chatter and the jet engines warming up...then blam highway to the danger zone and it all kicks off..hands down freakin awesome!
@@rickyquinteros7100 Seriously... I am 31 years old and didn't watch that movie until last week. This was the first impression I got. The soundtrack is just so awesome!
Same here, opening day tickets with Dbox seats that move with movie. Never done it I guess it’s a new thing for xtreme big screens I will see if it’s worth the money and hype
@@jtsuave6125 I think it's definitely going to be worth the hype and then some! The sound in full Dolby surround sound will be insane in an Imax cinema. Enjoy!
I just got to watch it earlier tonight and I am not gonna spoil anything but the movie is beautifully made, and the storyline makes you feel the exact same way as the first one. Your heart will be beating and you will want to be up in a jet
This movie fueled my passion to be a fighter pilot my whole childhood. Ended up being a lowly lowly mechanic in the ARMY😂 the whole 4 years of school before you can even sit in a cockpit really deterred that
This still gives me chills as soon as I hear that first bell! The heart beat starts racing as soon as I see jet blast deflector go up. I know what’s coming and it still gets me jacked like I’m 6 years old again seeing it for the first time!
The instrumental at the beginning is so eerie, but also majestic in a way. I think this happened a lot in 80's shows and movies. The intro here really reminded me of Twin Peak's intro, it's all beautiful imagery but the soundtrack makes it sound like something is looming around the corner.
This has to be one of the best action movie openings ever. The way it starts with the regal, elegant, solemn music, then the change over to badass action music at 2:35 at the moment the Tomcat's burners light and it takes off- this is such a well-done opening and the change in music is perfect. the closeups of the Tomcats afterburners, the orange sunrise/sunset, the audio getting louder when the camera focuses on the burners. Everything fits so well
I like the blend of the two very different pieces of music, starting with the calmness of classical reflecting the pilot on deck checking his instruments, to the engines starting and the exhilaration of the F14 being catapulted into takeoff, a transition marked by Kenny Loggins rocking off, best intro to any film.
On March 3, 1969 the United States Navy established an elite school for the top one percent of its pilots. Its purpose was to teach the lost art of aerial combat and to insure that the handful of men who graduated were the best fighter pilots in the world. They succeeded. Today, the navy calls it Fighter Weapons School. The flyers call it: *Top Gun*
Watched the first one a few years ago, and coming to this video coz I just watched the second one, and not gonna lie, I cried, this is the best freaking start a film can have, it just perfect and it brings so much nostalgia
Whenever I watch this intro I’ve always thought about how cool it would be to work on top of an aircraft carrier. Helping jets land and takeoff. It’s a hard but teamwork oriented and rewarding task I’m sure.
What you propably don't think about so much is that you are always away from home for a long time and it can also get VERY boring when nothing happens and no planes are deployed
"Top Gun isnt Top Gun without Danger Zone" Tom Cruz (Top Gun "Maverick") Who is not excited as hell to see another version of this with F-18's? and more dedications to the men and women who launch them off our carriers! Should be awesome.
+hanscombe72 NOTHING lives up to this!!!! Unfortunately now that Tony Scott is not with us anymore there can't be a successful Top Gun anymore... :( :(

Still the best movie of all time, and what an opening scene and music, watched movie hundreds of times and still get shivers watching this opening. No other movie has come close.
GO NAVY, never got tired of this stuff, I was on CV64 Constellation YEP, the first ace of the Vietnam War (Cunningham VF96) was a Graduate of TOPGUN :-)
when you are about 15 feet away from a twin engine jet in afterburners , even with mickey mouse ears you are aware of some serious noise levels. It's no wonder I can't hear my wife when she is screaming at me!!
I was six years old when "Top Gun" came out in theaters, so I never got to watch it in the theater. As I grew up, it was one of my wishes to watch it in the theater. So, when "Top Gun" was re-released in IMAX 3D, I rushed to buy a ticket. While watching the opening sequence, I started tearing up under my 3D glasses. It was an emotional experience for me.
The BEST film to test out your new surround sound system. Ever since this was first released on DVD, my dad and I enjoyed popping this in a DVD player (now Blu-Ray player) and enjoy the floor shaking from the roar of the movie. It's a great tradition!
Me and my dad have always wanted to turn volume up full blast just for this but we always have stayed in a semidetached house (not to sure f neighbours would approve) but luckily he now stays in a detached house so when I next see him will defy try! But for just now I will turn beats up full way (because they are soon bassy this will be AWESOME!!!!!)
My Grandpa was in the pilot in the Navy in Vietnam. About........4 years ago I was 13 I think. Spin up 'em feckin' engines baby. Beautiful Plane, Rock solid movie, top 3 movie intro's of all time. Childhood movie that will forever stay in the heart. Rip Tony, you're the man. /salute

Top Gun is an amazing movie. The music, the cinematography, the action and emotion... it is all epic and timeless; truly one of the greatest films ever made.
Years later this brings me back. One of the best intros of all time. Who didn't want to scream through the air faster than sound after seeing this? If you raise your hand, you're dead inside.
I'm playing a medley of these two songs in my marching band! My band also happens to be a militaristic style marching band. With about 175 people, we were able to form a massive jet on the field. One kid joked that we were forming a "very deformed helicopter"
Fighting jets are the ultimate racing car and the carrier's crew the ultimate pit crew. After watching this intro I'm ready to enlist, thanks I'm never close to a recruitment center.

The intro theme is secretly the best piece of music in the movie.
It’s like the star wars signature sound good see TGM it instantly takes you back too 1986
Definitely I prefer this instrumental.
I like both better than each individual piece, together they become elevated to a Topgun level, transcending music alone.
The opening instrument is just so moody and memorable.
