    So proud of our entry back then, Diodato couldn't represent Italy in 2020 at Eurovision but he surely represented Italy in 2020 as a year. The song is amazing, so glad he could performe it at Eurovision 2022 in the interval act.
    One of the most passionate and emotional performances I've ever seen, him, the crow singing and the dancers really moved me to tears 🇮🇹❣

    Most of them came back in 2021, but some other missed their chance to represent their country, unfortunately.

      Well some also refused. Others like Poland and Italy got an opportunity to perform life on their respective finalies.

    7:07 Really a shame that Germany's 2020 entry (Ben Dolic, "Violent Thing") didn't come back after the pandemic break. Musically modern, I liked it much better than anything they've sent since.

      As A German I have just one thing to say: The one time we send something good to the contest, the contest gets cancelled. :D

  • @ducris
    @ducris Před 2 lety +11

    show was supposed to be in may 2020 when pandemic was in full hit so it wasnt only a problem to have the crowd over but even artists would have been very difficult to get them to travel when all countries were in lockdown

    • @mjm3091
      @mjm3091 Před 2 lety +3

      The biggest issue was also that the stage and whole competition was already planned and prepared and there was no time to make it safe enough to even have just production and singers. That's why Poland was able to organise 2020 JESC, because they had time to make competition safe (most kids just performed in their home countries in similar looking studios, with circular stage and a lot of cgi).

    So sad they didn't get to perform but i'm still happy with the amazing music they gave us and the artists we got to discover. Many of them i still listen to today, my favs were for sure Bulgaria and Switzerland. Defenitely react to live performances of him, he can hold the notes live!

    Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, North Macedonia, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Ukraine and United Kingdom all chose the same representants back for 2021 (although the group Belgium returned with another vocalist). The Mamas from Sweden and Aleksi from Finland competed in the 2021 national finals but their songs weren't chosen.

  • @henriettethoresenbreen4421

    The stage performances are from the national selections.

  • @marham6956

    Thanks or the great reaction :) But they didn ´t mess up Ukraine's mic. Its a special eastern European way of singing actually, very folk. The name is "white voice" singing. :)

  • @signebrummerstedt9205
    @signebrummerstedt9205 Před 2 lety +3

    The Danish entry is chosen through a national selection taking place in the end of February/beginning of March.
    Is was on a stage, and there was meant to be an audience, put the week of the selection vivid restrictions were placed, so an audience wasn’t allowed. The show still aired, on the big stage, just without an audience, and that’s where that clip is from

  • @holsmetree1545

    Personally I reckon either Iceland or Switzerland would have won. Both songs would have been definitely up there with both the jury and televote

      Yes I agree those two are great, and I have that feeling with Italy too, and even though they weren't favorites of mine I also think Russia and Lithuania could have been contenders to win/gotten a high placing at least with the televoters.

    Alone from the amount of views Russias entry music video has gained and how huge Little Big fanbase in Europe is
    I think Russia would have won the ESC (Eurovision) in 2020

    • @user-gs3yf7dv8r
      @user-gs3yf7dv8r Před 2 lety +3

      It wouldn't, just cheap joke entry, lots of views doesn'tean a thing, also their fanbase is smaller then you think

    • @mjm3091
      @mjm3091 Před 2 lety +1

      Iceland got actually way more popular, especially on Tiktok and mainstream media. With how much Russian image have been falling apart, because of their growing militarisation - they wouldn't definitely not win. They would lack jury and televotes for sure. They would be still high, because its still Little Big, but Iceland, Switzerland and Italy would probably have it in bag.

    @juampisito Před 2 lety +2

    Well you see every year most of the countries send more americanized songs xd, some use some words in Spanish because reggaeton is too popular but they never win, so that's great. Unoriginal songs do not usually win.

    • @letheas6175
      @letheas6175 Před 2 lety

      I don't think Americanized is the word. They don't own shit. Especially not in regards to music.

    • @markusolofzon
      @markusolofzon Před 2 lety +5

      You mean many countries send songs written by/choreographed/produced by Swedes who are the same or close to the same ones who write a lot of the top hits internationally, both k-pop and western pop. That’s why many songs have a sound that is familiar or similar.

    • @mjm3091
      @mjm3091 Před 2 lety +1

      Lol people thinking mainstream music is "americanised" as if Swedish industry haven't been producing for Americans as well.

    • @sannev8407
      @sannev8407 Před 2 lety

      It's not americanized music. It's just another style of music. Don't know why people feel the need to put music in boxes. 'Americanized' or 'regeatton' songs are just a style like rock, folk, or indie, or pop, and none is better than the other, so no need to burn 'mainstream americanized pop music' tot the ground
      Oh and little fact for you: 'original' doesn't mean it's a good song you know. Sometimes an 'americanized' song is much better. You have to judge songs in it's own right, not downgrade them only because they are 'regeatton'. Spain for example was great ;)

    • @sannev8407
      @sannev8407 Před 2 lety +1

      @@markusolofzon Yeah but also because more than ever different styles are mixed. It's way more difficult to label songs as 'pop', 'indie', 'folk', etc. Even 'mainstream' is a word that people use all the time without knowing what it is, and I actually think it doesn't exist. Every song/style has its fans and rightfully so. A song can be pop but also rock or even latin, and pop music is often negatively look at but it's a style like the others and none are better or worse, there are good and bad songs in every style

  • @MissMars2022
    @MissMars2022 Před rokem

    I reckon, Switzerland would have won in 2020. The song was so mesmerizing and much better than the song in 2021, and in 2021 he came 3rd. And I think Germany would have been top 10 for sure. Best song in ages (from germany). Glad many artists came back in 2021, but i mostly preferred their 2020 entries (Spain, Uk, Belgium, Iceland, Lithuania and of course Switzerland for example)
