People were bashing matte for being terrible when it was just the placement that was the issue. Glossy doesn't look too good either in that spot. Thanks for the comparison OP.

Yeah.. kinda. But I can still see slightly better contrast, colors, and especially brighter HDR highlights on Asus.

Well, rtings showed that g80sd is brighter on 100% window, and clarity is way more better.

Maybe, but real scene hdr brightness is better on samsung as well as color accuracy. But again, it's just up to personal preferences.

Now with the Asus next to the window and the Samsung on the other side, the Samsung is pretty damn good. There's no reason to bash on this particular Matte screen as much as people have been.
The reflections in that position are just as annoying as the Samsung being placed by the window in his previous vid, not to mention the slight purple/magenta tint going on because of the light hitting the monitor (and how the LEDs in QD-OLED panels are positioned). So I reiterate what I said in his other vids, you shouldn't really be using an OLED monitor in bright rooms, for any coating.
Also remember that these monitors can be tweaked in their settings to fit the picture you want!
That being said, they're both great, there are advantages and disadvantages to both so I advise you do some research before making a choice, and you can take the screen coating out of the equation because Ben Geskin shows how they are in typical environments very well. Get which ever one fills your needs and fits your budget, and enjoy! :)
    Great Videos man!

What are some disadvantages and advantages? I just can't decide lol

@@joshual7671Honestly, there isn't much difference between the two monitors, if we're talking strictly about the panels themselves. But regardless below are details I've noticed through my experience:
      Samsung Advantages:
      - Better than Asus if you have light shining towards the monitor due to the Anti-glare coating.
      - Allows for better control over colours, white balance and shadow details using Samsung's OS, for both SDR and HDR.
      - Much easier to clean the screen compared to glossy screens.
      - Depending on where you reside, the Samsung seems to be cheaper to buy. (This is subject to change and dependent on region!)
      - Smart TV is a nice touch, though most people probably wouldn't be using it much.
      - Comes with a remote! And honestly makes using the monitor SO much easier and smoother.
      - Built-in speakers are useful, but only average. I'd still use my own speakers if available.
      - I was able to confirm Samsung DOES cover Burn-in in their Warranty, at least in the UK and some other countries. You'll have to double check for your region.
      Samsung Disadvantages:
      - Anti-glare coating can cause some problems with light diffusion especially if there's a significant amount of light being directed towards it which causes raised blacks. I wouldn't recommend having this monitor by a bright light source or a window.
      Asus Advantages:
      - Ever so slightly better visual clarity.
      - Asus' out of the box settings and predefined presets are pretty good.
      - Burn-in Warranty.
      Asus Disadvantages:
      - Reflections can be a real pain in the ass, especially if you have RGB enabled peripherals/equipment around you (first hand experience), if you're in a lit environment, or if you don't like to see your own reflections during dark/black scenes.
      - In lit environments, the panel looks to have a raised magenta problem. This becomes more noticeable the more light there is in the surroundings. In a dark environment this issue goes away.
      - Prone to streaking when cleaning the glossy screen, so needs a bit more extra care.
Both monitors perform the same in a dark environment, especially if you can get them both to use similar colour settings.
Brightness for both monitors seem just fine for me. I'm coming from an LG 27" IPS Screen, and I can say the brightness (with HDR on) is more or less the same. You have the option to enable Peak Brightness which will lower the OVERALL brightness at the 50-100% white window/paper white. But, highlights, light streaks etc. (in around the 1-30% white window) can be lit up to 1000nits, and it looks stunning to say the least. Playing Cyberpunk when it's night time in-game is the most visually beautiful thing I've seen so far.
These are my findings from now owning both monitors. At the moment the Samsung is my main purely because I have a lot of RGB going on, so that coupled with not wanting to see my own face in the reflections was the deciding factor for me.
      !!!Side Note!!!
I have noticed a slight issue with Samsung's OS and DisplayPort.
When you turn off your PC or put it to sleep etc. and you turn off the monitor, the monitor doesn't actually turn off and will go into a sleep state. When turning the monitor back on (and your PC), the monitor will have a problem where it will either:
      - Recognise the DisplayPort signals for about 20mins, and will just disconnect as if you unplugged it.
      OR
      - It will just not recognise the DisplayPort at all.
You will have to unplug and plug it back in to get it working on both occasions.
I haven't experienced this with Asus (yet) and this seems to be a Samsung issue across multiple monitors, not just the G80SD. At the moment I'm using HDMI for my Samsung and haven't had the issue since. I'm chalking it up to it being a Firmware issue.
(Another note: HDMI 2.1 allows for 12-bit colour depth if that tickles yours or anyone's fancy!)

Samsung is the only company that doesn’t offer a 3-year burn-in warranty, and that’s a deal breaker. Plus, with a glossy screen, you can adjust your room to reduce reflections if it bothers you, but with a matte screen, you’re stuck with worse blacks and contrast.
