The contrast of Ben Affleck’s depressed energy and the overwhelming cry of joy from the audience is just hilarious every time.
I only saw this comment the moment that clip started and I burst out laughing
He looks like he’s about to burst into tears the moment he steps backstage
“The college dropout is solid”.... L I S T E N H E R E B U D D Y
I’m not that far into the video but I fucking swear if he consider MBDTF anything less than a masterpiece I’m gonna unsub
Fences lol well I didn’t like almost ANY of that album...sorry...and just to piss people off Pitchfork was paid to give it a 10 soooo
Kanye: I think I just fell in love with a porn star. Turn the camera on, she a born star.
Mic the Snare: ... the album is rooted on empathetic and relatable feelings.
Yes, because one line in one song dictates the theme of the entire album.
@@christaddelospunch Yeah, I think that one just flew over my head.
6:15 correction: Amber Rose wasn’t until later in Kanye’s career. Kanye had a girlfriend named Alexis Phifer I wanna say since Dropout. They were each other’s fiancé for 18 months. They split up around the same time his mom died.
Samuel K they had started dating after making 808s if not mistaken and that was a video she was supposed to be in but got pulled
Correction: *Through The Wire*
“She was _with me before the deal, she been tryin to be mine”_
@@moonchild3130 came to make this correction. Glad im not the only one that know their kanye GFs history
He didn't start dating Amber Rose until after 808's & Heartbreak, the album is about his mother's death and his split from his at the time fiance, Alexis Phifer
I'm going through Kanye's discography myself right now (currently at Yeezus) so the timing couldn't be more perfect.
@@aadityabhattacharya TLOP and KSG are fantastic tho, man's still got gems ahead, ye had its moments even (I Thought About Killing You, Yikes, Wouldn't Leave, No Mistakes, Ghost Town, and Violent Crimes are great and that's like most of the album)
I just went through Ye's discography completely and I am in love with the music
Stop now. You do not need to listen to any other solo Kanye albums after Yeezus. You will be very disappointed.
fun fact: kanye has said that 30% of the vocals on JIK were recorded on his iphone. the chorus on closed on sunday is an example
How to you do a Kanye West discography and not mention "Through the Wire" once?!
He doesn't understand Kanye's place in Rap music as a whole is why.
So true! And we all know his car crash is what kicked of his solo career and a reason for him making 'Through The Wire'.
@@Stargazer3131 yeah exactly cuz that was the time he found his iconic style when he was still a producer for Jay-Z and then decided to make his own music with this style.
This guy seems really cool! Wonder what he’s up to these days…
I started really following Kanye around the release of Ye, and from paying attention to all of the antics that happened between Yandhi and JIK, I can say that I think his priority is no longer in music. He wants to focus on his fashion, his architecture, and broader societal issues like prison reform. As far as his artistic output will go, I think it will either be entirely religious, or non-existent. He seems to be the happiest he has been since before Yeezus, and I'm genuinely happy for him, but I don't think we'll ever get the high caliber of music from him again. But hey, it's Kanye, so he'll probably do a 180 just to make this comment look stupid and go back to making secular albums or something.
Honestly I agree on the 180 thing, he’s said so many things and told his fans he was gonna do so many things only to reverse his stance entirely. But hey, if we get great music out of it, then I’m willing to overlook it.
"Now ask yourself, what on earth could get people more excited than a new Kanye album?"
"THE ALL NEW HEFTY LOAD AND CARRY!"
I love CZcams ad placements
Me: Okay, I'm on board with being respectful.
You: "I don't care much for the College Dropout"
FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
I've only every heard 808, his singles got really big here in India.
For the longest time, I only thought of him as an autotune heavy singer
Last Call has some of Kanye's best lines and I actually love the speaking part after the 3 minutes of rapping. It's essentially the same as Kendrick with Mortal Man where what he's talking about plays a central role to the core ideas of the album. Kanye was a new artist trying to show people that he could make music, show people that he could rap, and him at the end there is him talking about how he almost got a record deal with another label before finally signing to Rock-a-fella.
you are one of the most underrated channels in the music community on youtube. love your content.
“Kid see ghost” is a masterpiece in my opinion, easily top 20 album of my generation.
@@caspian463 youre comments on this channel are all about how you have better music taste than every body else. I promise you you dont , youre a loser
Would love to see you try to tackle King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard before their discography gets too big
i attended the Sunday Service concert in Salt Lake City back in October, and despite it being a religious themed musical event (obviously), it was one of my favorite live shows i’ve ever attended.
it was outdoors (and literally a last second event) and the energy was insane. Kanye fans crowded together, happily singing along to “Father Stretch My Hands” and “Jesus Walks”. Absolutely beautiful.
as a fan of Kanye since i was in middle school, it might be the most satisfying concert i’ve ever attended :’)
I'm really happy I started listening to Kanye after the TLOP updates were finished, because listening to a bad album and then slowly hearing it get better I feel like would ruin any album for me. I do love the album though, and it's my my favorite (maybe except for late registration idk), I love your videos and this one too.
Absolutely love this series! Would really enjoy seeing videos on artists with shorter discographies, such as
Lil B
Buckethead
Mike Patton
Frank Zappa
Viper
Bull of Heaven
Keep it up!
Presumably Frank Zappa would include The Mothers of Invention though, wouldn't it?
That MBDTF as a spiritual awakening to music statement rings so true. It opened me to listen deeply not only to hip hop, but a lot of music genres.
That was one of the first non-classic rock albums I listened to, and it helped change the way I view art in general. Anything in any genre of any art form can be great, you just have to be open to it.
808s isn't about Amber Rose she was his rebound after the real break up, Amber was with him at the 2009 VMAs
Just one of many things i disagree with this video on. But, i listen to everyone's opinion because you know.........fish sticks.
Poll suggestions:
Wilco
Pearl Jam
Aesop Rock
Stephen Malkmus/Pavement/Silver Jews/The Jicks
Arcade Fire
Tool
Brockhampton
The Magnetic Fields
I think the production value on your more recent DDDs is so vast and improved over time that this one deserves a redo. Not to mention ofc Donda.
Came for the review
Stayed to loop that guy screaming by Ben Affleck at 10:03
I would love to see a QOTSA DDD (I know it's in the poll)
Wunderkind is pronounced “Vun-der-kin-d”. The kind part rhymes with mend or wind
PLEASE DO ANIMAL COLLECTIVE, their discography is incredibly fun and varied, I think you'd really love them.
As someone who's not really into rap / hiphop, I'm really into 808s. It's an album I love from start to finish, at one point I listened to it on the daily basis, still listen to it at least once a month. I'm overwhelmed by albums with many featuring artists and long tracklists, so this is closer to my comfort zone of rock and indie records that I typically listen to. I've tried listening to all his other albums as well but never got into them (except Yeezus, that has some mad bangers) but this video makes me wanna revisit them again and see what sticks this time.
uh oh
But he made graduation 😭😭😭😭
Kanye has the best music discography as a solo artist
Kanye west is a musical genius. As a person I intensely dislike him but you have to admit he is a master of production, lyrics, and flow. The graduation trilogy, my beautiful dark twisted fantasy, god they’re just incredible. My ego would be that big if I could write like that.
This needs a part two like if you ain’t already been done made it
I swear this video was like looking in a mirror. Your experience with MBDTF is the exact same experience I had with the album. Even the 4 albums emblematic of his career are my favorite 4 albums of his. Great video.
One of the best vids I’ve seen on Kanye sir. And as always, why aren’t you more popular?
Another solid video!! Hoping for Sufjan or Radiohead for the next one ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
An updated, longer version of this video is a MUST!!!
Before I knew Kanye's music, I knew him for his controversies, so I didn't take him seriously at all. But in all honesty, after his latest album, Jesus is Kind, I became interested. Because it just got me thinking, how does a guy so detatched from being humble and anything christian find himself making a whole album dedicated to god? I listened to a few songs on there, and they were ok, but far less than I expected from someone I then knew was regarded as a musical genius. Then I listened to 808 & Heartbreak, and oh my god did I understand.
He's raw, emotional, insensetive, and creative. He's not too afraid to put out whatever he feels like (I mean look what he did to Yahndi...) and I love that in an artist. And like OP said, he opened up the possibilities of rap and hip hop in his music, and whenever I hear music that's supposedly boxed in rap or hip hop transcend the typical sound, I find it very special. I find it easier to seperate the artist from the art because tbh I liked Tyler the Creator long before he was considered morally correct, and so, even if Kanye is unsurprisingly a not too great person, I wouldn't have much issue finding beauty in his work if he puts out a modern banger.
Kanye is so fascinating. Always love a vid about him. Can you add the Killers to the voting list?
10:45 “all i need is sweet and sour sauce” lol
POLL SUGGESTION: APHEX TWIN
I MEAN YOU GOT AUTECHRE YOU NEED APHEX TWIN
You pretty much hit the nail on the head, except for that the college dropout is my favorite album of all time
Love this kind of videos! Please do one with M.I.A.'s or Björk discography
That stretch between Dropout and Yeezus is some of the best modern hip hop hands down. Dark Twisted Fantasy is my absolute favorite.
came from the tyler video. both great videos! im excited to see more deep dives in the future. i would like to suggest doing a deep dive on Tame Impala

I really like your take on TLOP; it explains why it's such a polarizing album, even after the updates, and the general appeal of the "throw everything at the wall to see what sticks," approach that album takes.
I saw your video cause of suggestion that youtube give. And i really like your reviews. Love your work. Keep doin it.❤
King crimson and king gizzard ATLW would make such great deep discog dives considering the breadth and variety in their discographies it's a shame they aren't as popular as other artists for the poll.
Brilliant as always brother x
Can’t tell me nothing is one of his best songs. I wish it had been mentioned. Also, I wish you could have mentioned some of the tracks on Dark Twisted Fantasy.
I've probably watched all your discog dives 3 or more time
During 808s he wasn’t going through a breakup with Amber. He broke off the engagement with Alexis pheifer
Unpopular, but Graduation is not only my favorite Kanye album, it's my favorite rap album of all time, period.
1. Graduation
2. MBDTF
3. Late Registration
4. College Dropout
5. 808's & Heartbreak
6. The Life of Pablo
7. Ye
8. Yeezus
9. Jesus is King
A DDD on Billy Joel would make me too happy
This is the first video I've seen from you. Subscribed, I'm excited to see more of your content.
Great videos. I love how you lead in to a joke but hard cut it to something else
Mic: *has a different opinion on the college dropout*
Kanye fans: and I took that personally.....
WAKE UP MR.WEST!
That Big Day line...ya got me hollarin
10/10 analysis
The last minute changes joke is so much funnier now that donda dropped
I LOVE THE SKITS on the college dropout, they crack me up every time 😂
Say You Will is honestly the most fascinating and his most passionate songs hes ever made, it really works alot
Would love to see a deep discog dive on the streets. I don't think they ever really cracked america but original pirate material's commentary on uk culture is spot on. Also frightened rabbit would be cool.
One of the greatest to ever do it!

I got to be honest. When you said "I don't care much for the College Dropout", my jaw dropped!
Wow my name for the format actually got picked xD Now I named one of my favorite video series on CZcams right now :D also awesome video as usual ^^
Love this! These are some well thought out takes on his records. Imo even though Jesus is King did feel a little rushed, it gets a bit too much hate. There are some great songs on there and the kenny g feature was sweet.
omg!! I can't believe my little yoshi made it into your vid. Thank you so much! Cool vid too :D
you should do one of these for tyler the creator and ariana grande!
I just listened to his entire discography for the first time, and Life of Pablo is my favorite. Probably because it's now actually complete and I didn't have to go through what the fans did at the time. I just love pretty much every song on the album, and I think it's a great mix of all of Kanye's music and personality fit into one album. It's kinda messy, sure, but it works perfectly for him.
as a Kanye fan I basically completely agree with you. I only got into his music in November of 2020 at the request of a friend who told me to start from his early work and move on from there, and that's what ive been doing. And man, as soon as I heard College Dropout and Late Registration I was OBSESSED. Kanye became my most listened to artist of the year by a long shot despite only having been listening for a month and a half. Since then ive gotten around to 808's & Heartbreak, the Life of Pablo, and MBDTF in that order, and I feel like I understand these albums way more than I did pre-obsession because like... I didn't know shit about Kanye when I tried to look into his music before. Especially life of Pablo only makes sense in the context of the artist himself, and it's the reason why it's one of my favourites. It feels honest, even when he says something stupid or dickish and somehow that works. I'm sorta sad ive given up on any future where Kanye makes any more new music that's truly great but that's just how it goes.
This was a good discography review. K truly believe that some people let their political views on Kanye get in the way of appreciating his musical talent
Spoon might not have been very well represented in the polls but I wholeheartedly share your opinions on them, the day the DDD on them is made I will cry tears of joy
Your stanning of Spoon is appreciated.
She was in the poll, but a deep dive on Grimes would be awesome since not enough people talk about her
I decided to go through Kanye's discography last month and then I saw this pop up. A very welcome surprise
lil water pump I wish I could listen to Kanye’s discography again for the first time. You’re in for a treat
I really wanna see a Michael Jackson Deep Dive. The more defensive he got in his music is quite interesting
The setup for the beginning almost helped with the college dropout review lol.
we need a video about ARCA
new album drops this friday. pleeeeaaaaaseeee
my top 4 would be The College Dropout, 808’s & Heartbreak, Graduation, and last but not least, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
I have so many memories being 12 listening to Late Registration in the car 2003 to 2009 my favorite era of Kanye
awesome video!
A long shot, but I’m still hoping for a Deep Discog Dive into The Go-Betweens.
Appreciate how you explained TLOP. At its best (ULB, Waves, NMPILA, Saint Pablo) its his best work he's ever done, but you have to get through bad (Highlights, feedback, freestyle 4) to enjoy it. You really get the absolute best and the absolute worst of him at once, it's honestly remarkable.
Appreciate you!
I wouldnt say freestyle 4 or feedback are the absolute worst of kanye, theyre pretty good hype bangers
he hadn't met amber rose yet in the making 808's an heartbreak he was talking about Alexis Phifer
Ye is the best album and ghost town is his best song. Great video!!!
Man’s fighting for his life trying to review Kanye’s album 💀
