    Dear sir, DRV8825 become very hot eventhough I used Nema 17 stepper. I have given very small amount of current. I do not know why? Is it for marlin firmware?

    • @EdwardBraiman
      @EdwardBraiman  Před 6 lety

      It maybe related to the drv8825 tuning. There's a small potentiometer located on the drv8825, this controls current flow like a water valve. It may need to be tuned. I've not yet made a video on how to tune with test equipment as I'm still in the process of getting the test tools the demostrate, but there are several videos that exist on CZcams that may help. I'll try and find a link on CZcams in a couple of hours. The Marlin firmware is not the issue.

    Hi
    You're doing a really great job.
    I have been following Ramps videos for a while and honestly found that your explanation is the best so far.
    I consider building a CNC machine and putting a laser module on it.
    I found several videos explaining the connection of the laser module on the Ramps via D9 which gives 12V.
    But I did not find any detailed video explaining how to connect a laser module working on TTL 5V to a Ramps.
    Of course, I want to go with laser module with TTL 5V , because I found a cheap Chinese product on Ali Express, which was satisfied with many.
    Can you make a video on this topic please ?
    Thanks

    do higher step counts make the printer quieter or no?

    • @EdwardBraiman
      @EdwardBraiman  Před 5 lety

      Step counts have to do with number of increment subdivisions you can achieve with the stepper motor. Tuning of the stepper driver board does decrease sound. The higher the stepper driver board does makes it possible to be quieter.

      Sounds like you shorted out the USB on your computer. Check to see if the stepper driver board is connected correctly. The en (enable) pin on the stepper driver board matches the enable pin port on the RAMPS 1.4. remember to remove all power from RAMPS 1.4 board before checking. Also could you shoot a video and post what's connected to the board so I can get a better idea of what you have connected.
