I've taken apart a lot of abused little engines, but I have never seen a Honda piston look like that before. They must have run it without oil for a long time. It acted like it was seized to start with, then the oil Mitch added allowed it to spin, sans compression of course.
Thanks Mitch, good on ya for sticking with it!

Its a fantastic machine and now is part of my ever growing fleet. I sort of just "find" these things...or they "find" me I'm sure you know what I mean. In rebuilds like this I usually just pull the engine and do it on a work bench. I even have a small fuel tank so I can start my motorcycle engine on the work bench before I go put them back in the frames. That way I know it's going to run. It's usually easier and faster to just replace all the gaskets at once. And always press your piston ins if they won't com out easy. Beating on them does bad things to you rod and bearings. Loved watching your persistance.
Wish my grandsons were into scooters.

I haven't seen your channel before, but it's honestly nice to just listen to the sounds of the rebuild and environment without any talking.

Initially I thought: "a 56 minute-long video? Yeah, right... I'll just watch a couple of mins out of curiousity." Ended up watching the whole thing. Good job getting her running again!

Hi Mitch. I am new to the channel, came across you by accident. We all feel your pain with the Elite 80. A lot of content on you tube has too much talking but your hands and facial expressions say it all. Awesome job

Mitch, I'm a little late revisiting your video series but I just want to say that I appreciate your tact and straightforward rebuild. Thank you for describing what is being done in an effective manner. Though I do not have hearing issues, I find that many rebuild channels spend far to much time focusing on the proverbial "sound" of things instead of explaining what they're doing. Your perspective as a man who cannot hear is unique and your approach to diagnostics is very enlightening.
    Keep being awesome. :)

I love to see how you make all those old scooters come alive. Your are so lucky to live in the USA so you can get parts new and second hands so quick.
