- Today we shall elucidate the Astra Militarum regiment: The Death Korps of Krieg.
Enduring a bloody civil war upon their Hive World of Krieg, after quelling the uprising of their homeworld the sons and daughters of Krieg found only desolation in their wake.
Embarking on an endless quest to redeem themselves in the eyes of the Emperor, the Death Korps fight among the deadliest of warzones to earn glory as adherents of their war culture.

@@BridgeTROLL777 Not all clones they still have a small amount of natural births but a majority are grown in Vitae Wombs they do have some female soldiers....there was something games workshop said about krieg not being clones cause of not having a soul ect but i cant find it now :(

@BridgeTROLL777 Not necessarily clones, at least in my understanding. There's never been any confirmation on what a vitae womb actually is, weather it's cloning technology, some form of artificial insemination (test tube baby) or something else entirely.
All we know is it gives us more happy gasmask wearing shovel wielding zealots than could be produced naturally.
I love the Death Korps of Krieg because they just perfectly represent what 40k is all about. That, and the fact that I‘m German so they obviously get points for representation

I didn't think Catachan Jungle Fighters is suitable to fight Iron Warriors.
Their expertise is fighting guerilla and ambush, how can you do that against enemies who fought in fortifications? Unless they used their cheesy plot Armor...

I prefer to think that the Death Korps enact battlefield communications the exact same way Genndy Tartovsky portrayed Clone Troopers in the animated Clone Wars shorts; using hand signals only and in complete silence.
They are truly the embodiment of "Only in Death does Duty end"

Story of kreig never gets old , definitely the coolest of all the guardsman forces.
Great episode and a video game where you just play as a number and you can give and just assigned another number of the Regiment would be great fighting against Orks, GeneStealers, and Tyranids would give an amazing horror and Grimdark game for us fans.

Sabaton produced a song called "March of the Dead Men", and I thought it was for the Death Korps of Krieg, but nope. It was for Russians swarming the German lines during World War Two.

It was the Battle of Osowiec, a Russian controlled fortress in modern day Poland during WWI.
Germans launched a gas attack on the fort followed by several thousand infantry, and were repelled by only ~100 Russians literally spitting up pieces of lung and flesh.
Unfortunately the Germans captured the fort soon after, within a couple of weeks, and the Russians retreated.
WOW, just wow - excellent story and appreciate the Death Korps history. I have read some Black Library books on the Death Korps and found them hard to put down. Have you done a Gaunt's Ghosts storyline?

The Death Korps are a regiment known to many within the Imperium and won many battles and wars against impossible odds, but it is their eternal shame that lets these fatalistic fanatics to find redemption within death.

I have always been Imperial guardsmen in WH40k games. When I got introduced to Kriegsmen, I knew that I was at home **happy shovel noises**
They're also one of the few armies in the entire guard to be allowed combined arms regiment. Basically airforce+army+artillery combined. It's usually banned because combined arms traitor guardsmen are terrifying, but because krieg has 0% chance of turning traitor, they're allowed whatever strategies they see fit
Kriegsman feel guilty about their worlds betrayal, Germans feel guilty about WW2, parallels are there. I like it. Favorite Guardregiment
In the book, the Greater Good, Ciaphas Cain met with Death Korps riders and the seargent had a name i couldn't recall.. hmm.. must be an isolated event for the Death Korp

This was perfect until 9:25 the M40 are tools and not used in such a manner by the DKOK. it's the mandela effect . or memes dripping into lore.
The primary melee weapon of the DKOK is still the Bayonet.

9:23 This is FALSE, and a misconception that has to stop being spread. A meme that has a historical background yes but there is not a single sentence in any Krieg lore source that states the Entrenching tool is their Favored melee weapon.
The bayonet is as stated in the Siege of Vraks page 16.
" All Krieg soldiers carry a 45 cm long sword-bayonet. This heavy bladed, razor sharp knife is the guardsman's ONLY close combat weapon (...) All Krieg guardsmen are highly proficient with the bayonet, so much so that some commanders have remarked that the bayonet seems to be the regiment's main weapon. "

They do not break the mind of kriegsman in training to build them up again. If their mind can be broken they are to week and need to perish. The strong will be build up even better, they are strong, they will serve the the imperum well and only that is worthy for the Emperor!

A fair opinion, though a tad pretentious, the whole “I dislike it because others like it”. Though I do think as well that there are many interesting regiments, all good in their own way.
@@fallenunit5189every regiment have their own identity, the death korp gets the fan's favor simply because they embody the grim dark nature of the settings. Just like the cadians are favored for their unflinching courage, defiance even in the face of certain death
