    To make computers really aid the art making process, they have to augment the analogic, instead of just virtualizing everything. We need technology to aid us at a physical, atomic level. The level at which we can touch and use all the potential of our hands, bodies and senses for interface. Thats true augmented reality. We're approaching that possibility. People think that the future is about virtuality (an alternative digital reality). But the future is actually about augmenting the interface with the real.

    • @juancpgo
      @juancpgo Před 4 lety +2

      An example: Instead of making flat plastic surfaces with touch technology (ex: pen tablets), make some type of ink on paper that a computer can make sense of. On another level, if the computer can really understand the ideas that we draw, and give them motion, but without taking absolutely anything away from our human hand-drawn style, but just give it life, that's real progress. It seems kinda impossible, but I'm very confident that's what we're heading into. A world that seems magical, where we truly augment the real. That will be achieved with nano-robotics and advanced chemical processes. We will get computers to manipulate the atoms and put them to work for us.

    Ironically 6 years later, anime is still mostly handdrawn although there is a severe lack of talented people specially after the terrible fire loosing many industrial leading talents which was a huge hit to the animation industry in general, there just fewer and fewer people willing to spend 12 hours on avg everyday to draw page for page with a paycheck that is sometimes lower than what you would get by working at a convenient store.
    If Japan wants to save anime, it must start new schools to teach future animators, and reform the way people are paid and reduce work hours, perhaps utilising a system of shifts to maintain a production cycle of 24/7 allowing studios to produce far far more shows a year than they currently can.

      Same thing with game developers. There is a world full of people willing to work for nothing because its the hot thing right now. Anime, video games, FAANG. Same thing. Its not going anywhere anytime soon.
      Granted. I'm not saying that they are immovable indestructible industries. But something as big as the anime industry is gonna take a lot of chipping at before its realistically in any trouble. And worst case scenario? Oh no. There's not 100+ low grade seasonal anime being shit out every single season every year. Good. I wasn't watching trash anyway.

      If you look at current Japanese animations, you see a lot of hand-CG integration, for example, background robots are CG 3D model (not 3D movie, just model) while the characters and many other elements are hand drawn. Some make better integration while some are worse. They are exploring. I personally prefer hand drawn animation. You can draw in pencil or a stylus. I like Makoto Shinkai's style. Something with the weeabo tag bothers me because it's such a broad stroke insult to those who don't merely "abandon their culture" and that it only subjects to "westerners". First of all since when did America have a singular culture Identity, we never did, because we are made of several different cultures. I feel that weeabo and and otaku should be names we research more into, because to be an otaku doesn't merely mean to be a Japanese addict or recluse of Japanese culture from anime, otaku is actually a person who loves and/or is a fanatic or a know it all of one thing and several other things. We are in the age where we inbred the information from the internet and computers and translate them into to tags to the real world. And please I hope to those who watched anime was a mistake, no he did not insult anime, It was a mis-translation from an interview, go watch the video and stop making ridiculous assumptions.

    The evolution of technology is life norm But this does not mean that animation will become accessible. Some stages will become more difficult and some will be less difficult, and both of them are in the interest of producing more realistic and more lively drawings so that we can communicate the meaning and feeling that we want to communicate to people. Of course, this does not mean that those with little skills and training will sit on the throne of this profession, but rather those who know all the basics of drawing and animation and can but their feelings on it and realize how to express their real life with a group of drawings are the only ones who deserve to be called a artists .

      You say that those with all the drawing and animation skills are the ones that deserve to be called artists and the ones with little skills. Professionals once had little skills. Do try to put yourself in the shoes of beginner artists.
