Gacharic Spin (yeah, your pronunciation pretty good!) has always brought the energy! They've had their share of line-up changes since 2009, but now they have their best ensemble in play (IMO). You saw bassist and band founder F Chopper Koga (cool name!) start this one, with Hana, their multi-instrumentalist, the first vocalist here. Tomo-Zo is a great guitarist who often undeplays her hand, and Oreo on keyboard is a secret weapon for a J-rock band. Yuri on drums and pink-haired Angie are latest additions and bring youth and movement into performance. Four of them have taken lead vocals at one time or another, and often all chime in with harmonies or chants.
Next song? I have a soft spot for "MindSet", their best release song of 2021. Enjoy the ride my friend!

This band is criminally underrated. You have to check out Mindset and I Wish I and Kachi Kachi Yama and more to really see them shine. Saw them live last year. I wish they would come back to the US soon!

Really really loved your reaction and analysis. I always appreciate reactions from people with a musical background. You're one of the few who detected the stacked cymbal right away. Kudos!!
Since GS have been around for almost 15 years, they have a hugh back catologue.
If you want to have a quick overview over them evolving over time (with quite a few lineup changes) I'd suggest 3 cornerstone songs:
Their first ever song with their original vocalist Armmy (they went separate ways in 2012, she tragically died in 2015) as a 4 piece is Lock On. For that I would recommend the version from their official website, just to see them in 2010.
The second one is Sekira Liar (you just reacted to it) from 2015, their first single when they got a major deal, so "check" :)
The third one should be Mindset from 2021 (again, I'd go for the official MV, cause there are a lot of lives with questionable sound), which features their current lineup (called GS 5.0).
And on Feb 28th they will release a new EP (called Ace) with probably a new MV for the song Let It Beat, which should show you their current trajectory.
Can't wait to see you react to more of their stuff, lot's of crazy and mind boggling stuff from the ladies floating around !!!
    Cheers :)

This is actually one of their first songs - here, from the original line up, there's Hana (rythm guitar and lead vocals/back then, she was the drummer), Tomo-Zo (lead guitar) and Koga (bass)The original singer/keyboardist left after two years (and died a few years later) and Hana started to sing lead, while Oreo came to supply keys and some vocals. Angie (pink hair) and Yuri (drums) arrived 5 years ago, when Hana decided to move from drums to guitar. They're all top notch musicians and some of the best entertainers I know!

That’s some amazing work and talent, I’ll have to learn more about their story and pay appropriate tribute to the member who passed.

@@JustDunk it would be so nice for the late Armmy (you'll see: she'll make you think of Angie in a way). Their story is complicated and very rich, so good luck 😉. I love to mention that they even have an horror movie released ten years ago: "METALCA" that you can find on CZcams - there's no subs but franckly, it's very easy to understand and definitly funny.

Great reaction and you've discovered Gacharic Spin, that is best described as loosely contained chaos on stage and all the musicians are some of the best in Japan. Gacharic Spin is one of my favorite bands (along with Band-Maid). The band was formed in 2009 by bassist F Chopper Koga and her friend from high school, Hana, the second guitarist/singer using the auto-tune in this song. When founded, Hana was playing bass in another band and switched to drums (she is a multi-instrumentalist). Together they found guitarist Eita and singer Armmy and as a non-member, Oreo, for keyboards. After a few concerts on their first tour, Eita left the band. Oreo's band Eu Phoria, in which Tomo-Zo was guitarist, had just split up so Tomo-Zo could start at Gacharic Spin. Oreo supported the band with Keyboards at concerts in 2010 and 2011. After Armmy left the band in 2012 due to health issues (she later passed away), Oreo became a member. In 2019 they added the singer Angie (pink hair (when she was around 18) and a new drummer Yuri so that drummer Hana could move upfront as second guitarist.

I should add that you might want to check out Doll$Boxx which has the core members of Gacharic Spin, Koga, Hana, Tomo-zo and Oreo, along with Fuki who is now the lead singer for Unlucky Morpheus.

Ahh you found, IMO, the best band
There are lots of other excellent bands but no-one quite like Gacharic Spin
I'm not sure why your reaction didn't show up for me for a few days, I search for new GS reactions daily
I recommend taking a look at a recent live video they posted just a few days ago for their song "ブラックサバイバル"
Also if you don't mind reacting to an audio only video their latest track "オドリオドレ" they just posted a video for is well worth listening to
Finally they have a new MV coming out in a week coinciding with their new EP being released, the track is called "Let It Beat", they posted a teaser trailer for it on their CZcams page just a few hours ago at time of writing

I really appreciate the post and your reaction to the performance. Also thanks for highlighting drummer yuri as part of your reaction. Second guitarist-vocalist Hana played drums during the band's first nine years and impressed the pants off of everyone by doing lead vocals AND virtuosic drumming simultaneously. So the attention and adulation she received was fully justified. When yuri came on the scene in 2019 after drumming for Lagoon, many ( though certainly not all) GS fans were reluctant to accept the change, even though yuri held her own and then some. The 10th Anniversary Live Finale includes songs with awesome duo drumming, and in the song Kachi Kachi Yama from "W" Hana puts away her guitar and moves to yuri's kit as the latter moves to synth drum pads for the remainder of the song. In the most recent live performances, this means that the two of them exchange places on stage, with yuri moving to the front.

I was one of those who was a bit skeptical of Yuri at first, since she has a different grove than Hana, but she is the perfect fit for the new direction this band is taking.

They are absolutely unique and allways very special in their sounding. They just get it all and can do all that stuff, Metal, Jazz, Pop, Funk and there are funny Swingnumbers of them out there (Generation Gap). That's why most of there fans love Gacharic Spin: they allways surprise and never disappoint. Have fun with more of their stuff and thanks for the reaction.

  • @khunrichz4855

Great review and trust me, Gacharic Spin does have an interesting history. This is the current line up with the addition of the energetic, pink haired Angie (the other singer) and Yuri on drums, who replaced Hana the auto-tuned singer who now plays guitar. Oreo, the keyboardist, also sings, Tomo-zo is the guitarist and usually does backing vocals and of course the amazing Koga on bass. All of these women are extremely talented and they are one of those bands that really excel when they play live. To be honest, I wasn't certain about Yuri when she first joined since she has a different groove than Hana is also an amazing drummer, but Yuri is a perfect fit for the new direction this band is taking as you can see by her playing. This is one of their older songs.

  • @FourBleats
    @FourBleats Před 5 měsíci +2

Nice. An old track re-worked a little for their current line-up. I'd say it was a fairly low energy version by their standards - Oreo didn't stand on the keyboards or do the full choreography for example, but they are trying to do more of the music live these days rather than using backing tracks. They're always highly entertaining and somewhat overlooked for not being 'metal' enough. Hopefully you'll check out more stuff in the future - they do some impressive acoustic material should you ever need to dial down the chaos a little.

Now watch the original SEKIRA LIAR OMV, with a different lineup - czcams.com/video/DSx9z8ZdDM0/video.html
Then experience the GACHAPIN performance that blows my mind every time, as they open their set at NAONのYAON 2023, the Tokyo festival celebrating female musicians, with an explosive performance of REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY and THE COME UP CHAPTER - czcams.com/video/eEFYh3WiybA/video.html
If you want to go all the way back, look for their First Anniversary concert video to see the original four-piece lineup with ARMMY on lead vocals.
BTW, you said the name perfectly.

For your own enjoyment, go back and check the original line up of this group with Armmy on vocals. More of a punkish funkish rock vibe. "Gacharic Spin - 1st Anniversary LIVE~衝撃!笑撃?SHOW劇~ 完全版"... if you don't want to watch the entire hour and 10 minutes, go to the 9m 39s mark and watch the next three songs. Or if you want just one song, go to the 18m 45s mark... you'll be glad you did.

Assuming I’m right and this sekira liar then this is the first song they did after picking up their label in either year four or five…the b side was a song sung by their dancers which was somewhat forgettable except for the mascot incident early in the song. It goes by very quickly but is quite funny especially if you take into account the mascot colors and instruments..

Appropriate reference, given that lead vocalist Fuki served as guest vocalist for Gacharic Spin after Armmy's departure and joined forces with GS's core four to form Doll$Boxx. I understand the "two bands" are co-headlining a single concert later this year. That will be something to experience!
