    I have been watching your videos Atty. , even it's time to sleep I don't feel sleepy whenever I watch your vids. My nerves are awake because of your words. What I love the most about you is your speaking style. I couldn't even hear any fillers and that means a lot to me , it gives me the assurance that you totally know what you're talking about and you're pretty sure of them. Your words are powerful!

    Thank you for being honest about your experiences in law school. Been thinking about going to law school but I think I'm not prepared for the humiliations and constant pressure and I don't wanna end up dropping from 1st semester. Need more time to think and decide. I hope to see this comment again in the future if by any chance I become a lawyer by then. Good luck to other aspirants and God bless! 💪🙏

      Thanks also for being honest about your second thoughts! Don't let that fear of humiliation and pressure stop you. All of us in law school were terrified of humiliation... but we all got through it together because we all experienced it (with everyone watching) at some point! I hope you are at peace with your decision, whatever you choose :)

    Hi, Atty. Tina! I am on my final year in UP Law din and I agree with everything you said here.
    1. One of my friends is a Biochemistry grad from UP Manila and he's one of the good ones in our block.
    2. Grit really is important. Esp during the first year when everyone was still adjusting, and it was just soooo easy to quit because you're not yet that invested. Profs really berated us. And you're correct. At the end of the day, it is your resolve that gets you through.
    3. True!!! You must like what you're doing to be able to stay awake at night reading countless cases, and the drive to actually show up in class. I started law school in my late 20's and had a thriving career but left it all because I thought UP Law is just that so worth it. And to this day, I still think it is. Maybe it really is dedication to that goal of becoming an "Atty."
    4. Amen! 🙂
    5. There were professors who give quizzes. But vast majority do the Midterm-Finals combo. Pero meron ding ilan na final paper na lang, but they're rare specie. 😅
    And yes!!! You'll just get the hang of it (being humiliated). Haha!!! Totoong kakapal din talaga mukha mo. And the mock recit! Just so true. Hahaha.
    Radyo!!! Ngayon yung Dyaryo, TV na ang tawag. Hahaha. TV - you help your blockmate by typing answer sa Laptop if ikaw ang nasa unahan ng nagrerecite or katabi mo siya. Haha! People get creative and we adapt din with technology to help out blockmates. 😅
    It is a crazy experience! A roller coaster ride. Haha. Glad I have to do this one final year na and I am done. Of course Bar pa, but still. Haha!
    Thank you again for this vid. New subbie na ako. 😃

      Hi Juno! Oh wow, I'm so happy to have a future UP lawyer on here (there are a few of you)! 😊 High five! 😊
      Thanks for going point by point. I loved reading all of your comments because they gave me a glimpse of what present-day UP Law is like! Nostalgia! The feels!
      I particularly loved two things: how you're so tenacious in the pursuit of your dream (well done, I know that gamble will pay off one day), and "TV" (love how even the most serious iskos and iskas help each other out in such a funny way)! 😂
      I have a question pala. One of my subscribers commented recently that the climate in UP Law has become very competitive/ toxic. If true, this is sad because it wasn't like that during my time at all. Is this true based on your experience? (I hope not, may "TV" nga kayo eh) 😅

      Hi, Atty. Tina! You should drop by! One of the new changes is that that the first floor of Lib already has a coffee shop, with study area just like the insides of a typical coffee shop, too. It's very cozy. And we have an elevator na rin! Haha!
      Aw, you can only imagine the lengths we go to to help each other out. But of course, still within bounds of what is ethical. :)
      With regard to competition, I can say that not at all! Well, at least not in my batch and block. I love my blockmates! Even at the outset, we already decided that we're going to do this together (we have block digests, we share materials, and sometimes do tutoring). I can't imagine doing this on my own. Law school is already a gargantuan task as it is that I can't possibly think where they can insert competition pa. I love how difficult classes (and sometimes professors, haha!) can bring the best out of my block and batch. I love studying in UP. ❤💚

      Hi, Atty. Tina!
      A score of organizations had released statements against this constitutionally violative bill. We also released and signed a joint statement with NUPL denouncing the railroading of this atrocious bill. And a handful of us were communicating po with representatives, imploring them to change their position. The Institute of Human Rights has also released their own statement against the bill. We are waiting for the joint statement of the faculty, but some professors I know have already made their opinion on the bill public (they are all against it).
      I have seen your reaction video regarding this bill and I could not have been more proud and thankful po. Thank you for lending your voice. We need more lawyers and law students speaking up against this bill. More power po! ✊

    • @TinaAmadorRobles

      Hi Irvin! Yes, I read all books cover to cover, but it was light reading compared to how I read codals and San Beda Red Notes. Hmm, I think it's possible for someone to pass the bar just having browsed the books and intensely studied Red Notes- but no, I wouldn't say the same for just having read codals. :)

    The only thing pulling me back from going to law school is the amount of cases that is to be read, and the mechanism or process of digesting them. During my undergrad, we had a subject called Legal Ethics and our professor was an Attorney and he assigned us cases to read so that we could digest them. And as a nursing student, it was overwhelming to read the entire case and understand legal terms I have never heard of. My question is, how does a student coming from the natural science field or any field not related to law, adjust to this reading and digesting cases? Is there a subject in the first year of law school where they teach you this? Or is it just the initiative of the student? And if possible, can you make a video on how to digest cases or do law students really read the entire cases? Thank you. Hope you notice this Attorney.

    • @TinaAmadorRobles
      @TinaAmadorRobles  Před 4 lety +4

      Hello! No, there is no subject which teaches this, law students just learn as they go along. Yes, law students generally have to read entire cases (not just digests). Don't let that fear of digesting hold you back. I rarely made digests back in law school just because there was no more time to do so after having read all the actual cases! I wouldn't say that digesting cases is a huge part of law school. It actually doubles the time and effort if you read the actual case, plus make a digest of it pa. In law school, it's time you haven't got! Yes, I can do a video on this in the future!

    s office kc there are 5 of us lawyers including our boss and lately ako lng naiiwan s office kasi ung 3 nsa field or may meeting and ung isa nka maternity leave, tpos may darating from other agencies or dept asking for a legal opinion and most of the time i cannot give an accurate answer(lageh ko n lng sinasabi na sandali lng aaralin ko muna), mdyo frustrating on my part kc nahihiya aq dun s ibang mga staff na non-lawyers kc feeling q they are expecting me to give a quality answer ndi ung aaralin muna. i felt like im loosing confidence kc nga in a layman's perspective ang lawyer dapt magaling.
    BTW, eto pong job ko kya q tinanggap kc eto rin po ung first na nag offer sakin and the pay is good pro to be honest d ko tlga feel kc more on political law ung work ko w/c is isa s mga weakness ko s law school and also kinda urges me to take political side(im a very non-partisan person), but because of the current pandemic tinanggap ko n lng din kc need ko rin ng money. If given a chance po maybe in the future, since im also a cpa, i really want to be a corporate lawyer like you, or khit nsa govt din pro at least GOCC. sorry nga pla if this is not related to the topic.

      Hello Sed! First of all, congratulations and well done for passing the Bar. :)
      Second, it is COMPLETELY normal to not be able to give a legal opinion right away, on the spot. This happens even when you're decades in the practice- even when you're a partner in a big law firm! This is why law firms can rack up billing hours just to answer a client's legal query- because they have to research on it first. Legal questions are RARELY ever on the same topic, and the scope of legal questions is just so incredibly broad (covers any law, any IRR, any government agency, any admin issuance, any case), so it's completely fair that we have to research first so that we can give a correct answer with sufficient legal basis.
      Here's a tip (that lawyers do): give your verbal opinion based on your preliminary assessment, but if you're unsure of your answer or would like to add to it, then say that this is subject to your validation or written opinion (which will be to follow).
      Re: being a CPA, yes, being a corpo lawyer would really allow you to use your CPA degree. Law firms love CPA lawyers. Don't let your being a CPA prevent you from going into a different non-corpo law specialization, though. I know a CPA lawyer who does litigation, not corpo. At the end of the day, choose a practice you enjoy. :)

      Choose something you are genuinely interested in and will enjoy. Dapat enjoy ang pre-law course, cause pagdating sa law school, you will be doing nothing but buckling down and studying 😂 Choose something with all the required units (see my UP Law tips video) if you don't wanna be hassled taking back units when you're in law school.

    Atty Tina, pano po kaya? I am a Mechanical Engineering Graduate, I have 12 units in English, 9 units in Social Sciences and I have Rizal. But I lack in HIstory and Economics. I have 3 units in Economics so I still need 6. Will they allow me to take the LAE? And if ever na pumasa how will I complete the lacking units?

    • @TinaAmadorRobles
      @TinaAmadorRobles  Před 3 lety

      Yes, you can still take the LAE and be admitted to UP Law! When I was admitted, I lacked 3 History units. I took them during the summer between 1st and 2nd year of law school! So, totally doable! 🙂

      So many of them! Justice Leonen for Civ Pro, for example. He used to regularly scream at us (as in not just raising his voice ha, but hardcore screaming) and fly into a rage whenever someone addressed him "you" (he was training us for court kasi). Law school builds character talaga. 😂

    Can I work part time po ba while studying law? Or should I work first bago ako umattend ng law school? . Am I too old to study law po ba if maybe 27 na po ako mag start?. Incoming senior high student po ako and di po ako sure if I'll pursue law or just give it up.

    • @TinaAmadorRobles
      @TinaAmadorRobles  Před 3 lety

      Yes, you can work while attending law school. 🙂 There are some schools which are friendlier than others to working student culture, so do your research about the school first. For example, instead of the usual 4 year program, UP Law has a 5 year program exclusively for working students. 27 is not to old to study law, I've had batchmates who were in their 40s! 🙂
