- In this video, I demonstrate how to replace the serpentine belt in a 2012 Toyota Corolla.
Here are links to the parts I used:

The torque on the lock bolts are 32 ft lbs of force for the lower bolt and 14 ft lbs of force for the upper bolt.
Listened to this belt for the last year thinking it was something I couldn’t tackle, but this video helped me take care of it. Thanks a lot
Awesome!
Wow! You just showed me how easy this is . I thought I couldn’t do it , my wife is proud of me lol
Great video, Vance! Thanks to your video, I was able to change the belt on my 2012 Corolla at 155K miles. The belt original belt showed no damage, but since you made it look so easy, I figured it was time. Small correction, though.... that bottom pivot bolt is 14 mm, not 12 mm. The two bolts at the adjusting bracket are 12 mm.
Thank you for filming inside so we can see how the belt should be on!!!
Thank you very much for your tips. Big help. I just changed my 2012 Matrix belt.
Just to say Toyota states 7 to ten millimetres deflection, up or down your choice to set correct tension. Happy mechanics.
i have a 2011 corolla s im doing a belt on tomorrow so this video was extremely helpful
Lol my old belt moves 360 degrees yep thanks on the video. I forgot to to measure so I needed help on tension of the new belt
Thanks for this video! My 2015 Corolla LE is same structure as yours!
Thanks for sharing doing it tomorrow 2010 1.8 , thanks for sharing!
If you're coming up short on belt length, take a break and check the factory diagram for proper installation. Easy mistake, especially in the hot sun of Louisiana.
Good advise
How can you tell if the serpentine belt was installed too tight?
great video thank you sir
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the video, it was extremely helpful
Hi Vance, Is the engine cover necessary?
Great video.
Hello , great video , is it easy to change the timing belt for a 2008 Corolla?
What size bolts would a 2012 Toyota Corolla S need?
Everyone shows the easy part( taking it off) but no shows the pain in the ass part when installing the new one
Does the belt is 6PK1230 ?
I have an issue. The pivot bolt is stuck. I tried everything, but absolutely can't make alternator go loose....any advice? Or should I just go to mechanic?
Unfortunately, you may have to go to a mechanic if you can't get it loose.
@@VancesHowTo I might try penetrating catalyst oil. Might help
Help. Can't seem to put the belt on. The alternator is at it'd loosest position but the belt is still a bit short short. It's a correct belt. Any advice . Thanks
Double check that you've got the belt routed through the pulleys correctly. Check the video again and look how its routed. Good luck!
@@VancesHowTo took your advice and found out I routed the belt underneath the timing mark from the bottom crankshaft. So Fixed right away when routing it correctly. Dumb ass me lol. Thank u for your helpful advice. Appreciate it very much.
This car doesn’t have a tensioner?
That's right. No spring-loaded tensioner on this car.
I changed mine and now it squeals 😢
what year car is this
2012
Dose anyone have the correct routing diagram of the belt
@vaence's great video.... i have a question i replaced my belt but now i hear a small squeal for 2 seconds when i turn on the car only in the mornings what went wrong? is it too tight or loose?
Your belt is probably a little too loose. Tighten it up a little bit and see if the noise goes away.
thank you @vance's.. keep up the good work
