    The BioKnee® program combines Dr. Kevin Stone's most innovative surgical procedures to create a revolutionary treatment for arthritis. This surgery program has permitted hundreds of people with moderate to severe arthritis to stay active and delay or avoid a total knee replacement.
    A unique offering of The Stone Clinic, the #BioKnee replaces, regenerates, or rebuilds damaged portions of knee cartilage and injured ligaments using advanced biologic techniques, preserving the healthy portions of your knee while avoiding the use of metals or plastics.
    The BioKnee program was developed in 1991 by Dr. Kevin Stone. Since its inception, BioKnee has been followed by clinical research studies that prove that BioKnee patients recover faster, return to sports, and are far less likely to report pain than with an artificial knee replacement, even many years post-surgery. Hundreds of patients with a BioKnee are now enjoying their active lifestyles.

      Hi there. The meniscus is a critical part of your knee anatomy. Many surgeons trim large portions or entirely remove this vital shock absorber in your knee often causing stiffness and eventually arthritis. We comprehensively repair, regenerate, or replace the meniscus to ensure our patients can avoid arthritis and get back to full activity. • @stoneclinic
      @stoneclinic  Před rokem

      Hello there. Sorry to hear of the trouble with your meniscus. That's not unusual advice as many orthopaedists are hesitant with meniscus transplants. However, few, if any, surgeons have performed more meniscus transplants than Dr. Stone. We've had tremendous outcomes and conducted numerous published clinical research studies on the technique. So our Clinic has been able to manage and reduce common problems and failures. You can learn more here www.stoneclinic.com/meniscus-transplant-center
      Having said that, the tissue being put back into your knee joint is human meniscus tissue. So, it too can be torn by injury like your original meniscus. So that will always be a possibility, just like it is in any healthy knee.
      Patients are often told to reduce/quit activities and wait for total knee replacement. Which we think is an outdated response. Our goal is to keep you fit and active and to delay artificial knee replacement for as long as possible. • @stoneclinic
      @stoneclinic  Před rokem

      Hello, Vishnu. There's almost always something can be done to improve functionality within an injured knee. The critical thing is to restoring the knee anatomy as close to normal as soon as possible. The grinding you're experiencing may be wearing down your articular cartilage and further reducing your joint space. Less invasive, more natural-feeling procedures (like biologic knee replacement and partial knee replacement) are available to you if you still have joint space remaining. However, if you allow your knee injury to progress into bone-on-bone arthritis in all 4 compartments, then your only option would be a total knee replacement.
      We've put together a guide on how to make the best choices for the long-term health of your knee joints. You may download the Saving My Knees Guide here www.stoneclinic.com/saving-my-knees.

      Here are our general guidelines for determining whether or not a patient is a candidate for our BioKnee program: "BioKnee procedures such as cartilage
      replacements can often be performed as long as there is space
      available, meaning that the joint is not completely bone-on-bone.
      Patients who are candidates for a BioKnee often have symptoms
      associated with pain isolated primarily to one side of the joint and do
      not have underlying inflammatory arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis
      which differs from injury-caused post-traumatic or osteoarthritis.
      Ideally, their range of motion is not too severely limited and their legs
      are not too badly bowed inside or curved outside (i.e. less than 10
      degrees of angulation)." For more information you may download our Saving My Knees Guide available at www.stoneclinic.com/saving-my-knees
