I’m a licensed barber and whenever I need to show someone or anyone even myself what were the proper steps again??? I watch this and Im reminded, this was how it’s done state board! This is the right way if you want it done like so.

You should know the 14 sections of the beard that need shaving. The doll head in this demo has markings on the beard ONLY for demonstration purposes and for the students who watch the video to understand what zones are zone 1, zone 2, etc… Procedure: First, set up the station and drape the doll head. The doll head might be placed in a shoebox, not on tripod, depending on the state where you take your exam: check the state board of barbering website for more details of your state’s requirements for the shaving exam. Next: sanitize hands, apply shaving cream to soften the pretend hair on the face, remove it with towel, and reapply the shaving ream; sanitize the hands and start shaving. Use a towel to remove excess shaving cream. Tone the face to close the skin pores. Place the razor in the Implements to be Sanitized container. Undrape, clean up, and sanitize hands. I think working with doll heads is fine, but barbering requires a light touch IMO, and students learn that by practicing on people or on themselves. Kind of hard to learn to be gentle and have a light touch when working with a doll head.
And ignore the “haters.” Keyboard warriors. They just need lives. If they already know... why are they watching? Lol. I have better things to do in life than watch how others do what I know how to do so I can criticize them. 🤷♂️
Were not haters? We are just making watchers aware of alterations that need to be made in order not to lose points, and were watching to refresh on the strokes, not the test rules
as for the state board test do whatever the book says for your state. once you’re licensed and working on clients you can do what’s most comfortable to you

Good question! There is a procedure for left handed barbers: you stand on the opposite side then what's shown in the video and the pictorial instructions would be in Milady's barbering book.
It's a regular cheep shaving cream; all shaving creams are whipped shampoo. You can take some shampoo, put couple of drops of water, take a mixer, and whip it up: you will have a shaving cream.
