you answered your own question - the samples. + most producers on this list try to keep this shit underground. and this also is a subgenre of house music, just like club house.

This is just house music. You could use the comparison between Jungle and Drum & Bass considering those use totally different drum samples and patterns yet Jungle spawned Drum & Bass but people don't consider either one sub genres

@@ugandahater so by your logic, every underground producer here makes generic hiphop beats and mainstream house music? you ever listened to a mixtape from any one of them(triplebeatscale, yung smartrider, hpshawty, e.t.c.)? shit is pretty far away from what you would normally consider "just house" or "just drum and bass". and lets not even talk about the dirt beats themselves - the entire style and the way it sounds, sample usage(like i mentioned above) is entirely different from today's beats people use to rap over. just look at what happened to phonk - shit got labeled the wrong way, got taken over by TikTok and now you see that music on fucking gaming clips and workout videos. this is why this scene has its own entire niche category and it should definetely stay in it, without being generalized under one word.
Its called memphishouse for a reason if you would know both/either styles you would know the difference....
